Idiot proof stain for common board

I built this sort of media stand table thing for the man cave. The room has got an overall kind of dark vibe to it so I want to stain it dark because the light pine or whatever this is really sticks out like a sore thumb.

I tried to do a stain on a coffee table recently and it was OK but kind of streaky and inconsistent. i used Minwax PolyShades Wood Stain + Polyurethane Finish for that.

I’m pretty happy with this one so I don’t wanna fuck it up with a bad finish. Any suggestions of products, brushes, etc for the most idiot proof way to do this for somebody who’s only done one staining project before.

Here’s what I got

I dove in head first about a month ago but I’m trying to be considerate with my purchases and not just buy junk. I don’t want a library, I want a collection for me. So this is a combination of movies I’ve seen and really love and then others that I hear are excellent and never had a chance to see. (Never seen the Nolan Batman movies before. I watched the first one last night. I’m really looking forward to the second with Heath ledger’s Joker.)

Parkland

I don’t see a lot of people talking about this one, but I picked it up at a secondhand store and I liked it a lot. It’s all about the story of the people involved after the Kennedy assassination like the Parkland Hospital doctors, Abraham Zapruder, the FBI, Secret Service, even the Oswald family. It’s not conspiratorial at all - just very grounded. A stacked cast too. And the video quality is excellent. Highly recommend.

Old Craftsman Circular Saw Found at Goodwill

Got this for $9 today. Im just getting started in wood working. Is this worth cleaning up and using? Or is it a dangerous piece of crap?
