Pack n Play with sleep safe bassinet recommendations [bc]

Hi all! Im hoping to get some recommendations on Pack and Plays that include a sleep safe bassinet (and preferably also a changing station). At first I was considering just a bassinet stand for downstairs sleeps (to use with our Uppababy bassinet) but now Im thinking a pack and play with its own bassinet may be better for living room, so baby will have a play yard later on too.
Do you have one that you liked and used a lot? Bonus points if it can be purchased easily in a local store or ordered on Amazon for a quick arrival.

ETA: I know Costco had a couple of Graco ones recently, has anyone in the lower mainland actually seen these sold in our stores? Cause I haven’t yet!

Your experience with induction/Cervidil [ca]

Hi all! My due date is tomorrow and baby doesn’t seem to be showing ANY signs of wanting to vacate the premises. OB said they won’t let me go past 41 weeks so I may be getting induced next week, and was wondering how your induction stories went? How many rounds of Cervidil did you have? How soon did you go back to the hospital after the rounds? When did they move to Oxytocin? What else went on?
I know everyone is different and will have a different experience but Im trying to prepare myself for all various possibilities, also trying to kill some time and boredom and need some reading material, so bring on your stories please!

Anyone seen this error code before?

2025 Q7 Technik (Canadian equivalent of Prestige) suddenly had the check engine light come on. Used a code reader and pulled code “U0447 - Invalid data received from gateway ‘A’ “.

Has anyone seen this before and maybe have a solution?

I’ll take the car for service as soon as I can but I’m wondering if maybe it’s something fixable at home or if its serious. I just took it in for its first service a month ago so this is just annoying to see so soon after on such a new car.

Emergency Dentist

Hi Langley friends,
Does anyone know of any dentist that may be able to see me tonight? I had a tooth break and I’ve called around 20 places and no one is able to see me tonight. Are there any 24 hour emergency dental offices in Langley, Surrey or anywhere nearby? Or far, I can drive out.

Thanks!

Doctors accepting new patients (Willowbrook or Brookswood areas)

Hi Langley people!
My first baby is due mid-August, and I have signed up with post-partum care with a midwifery clinic who will take care of baby and me for the first 6 weeks. However, after that I will need a family doctor for my baby. I know that generally my own family doc should take on my baby too, however my family doctor is in Burnaby where I used to live, and I’d rather have someone closer for my little one.
Does anyone know of any doctors/clinics currently accepting new patients in the Willowbrook mall area or Brookswood (or anywhere between/near those areas)?
Thank you in advance!!

What do we do when we can no longer reach our toes? [ca] [bc]

Hello fellow pregnant or previously pregnant ladies! What did you do in terms of pedicures when you could no longer reach your toes? I’m currently 35 weeks and I don’t think i can tend to my toesies anymore as I would like to. I’m also not much of a nail girly, having gotten a professional pedi maybe a handful of times in my life. I’m ok with going for a professional pedi to take care of this, but I don’t think I’d be ok sitting in a nail salon with all the fumes, etc. Anyone have any suggestions? I was thinking of those mall hallway nail places but I don’t think any of those really exist anymore…

Not your typical hospital bag question [bc]

So Im starting to prepare my hospital bag, I have a list going, etc, but that’s not what this is about…
I’m seeing all these instagram influencers packing their stuff in carry-on suitcases, which seems pretty convenient for sure, but I’m wondering: do people really do this in real life, in Canada, in BC?
I was at Surrey Memorial the other day for a non stress test (there was a bit of a scare, all good) and women were being admitted without even a single bag or anything. Maybe their husbands went back to the car later to get it? Maybe they suck at being prepared?
So anyway, my question is what did you use? Did you use a carry-on size suitcase? Not that I’ll care what I look like at that point but I don’t wanna be the girl who just brought way too much and looks like she’s there for a week long vacation flight if I roll up with my carry-on luggage.

Labour and postpartum apps [ca]

Hi all, Im looking for advice on an app (or two separate apps) to use. I’d like to have one to track contractions and such when the time comes. I’d also like one to track baby pee/poop times and if possible also feeding times.
If it’s all in one app..even better.
So, what did you all use that you liked? Or is it more common to use good old pen and paper?

Black stains on white clothes and black flakes in drum

Hi all! First time poster here, and I’m desperate for a solution! We have a front-loading Samsung HE washer and for a while now my white clothes have been coming out of the wash with black circle stains on them (see image). These cannot be washed off no matter what I try so I’ve had a few brand new items of clothing go into garbage right away. Yesterday I decided to try and do whatever I can to find the issue and fix it, but no success.

- I drained the hose at the bottom of the washer and cleaned the filter there.
- Bought the mold cleaning gel and left that overnight on the rubber parts - it seems to have cleaned a lot of the black rubber stains.
- I cleaned the entire drum from the inside, the rubber around the door and the door itself.
- Ran TWO empty cycles with hot water and an Affresh tablet, followed by a rinse and spin cycle.

Still the flakes were showing up inside the drum. Today i cleaned out all the visible black flakes, ran another rinse and spin but again…the flakes are back (see image).

Does anyone have a solution for this? Best I could find by Googling is that there is buildup on the outside/behind the drum and the only way to clean it is to disassemble basically the whole washer and remove the drum entirely to clean it.

I’m at a point where I want to just junk this thing and buy a brand new washer.

Breast pump advice for FTM [bc] [ca]

Hi all. I’ve been doing down the rabbit hole trying to figure out and decide what is best to have ready for breast feeding. The thing is that neither my mom or sister had a milk supply at all with their pregnancies. I know that may not necessarily mean I won’t either, but I also don’t want to buy all these different pump options and then have my baby end up on formula from the start. I’m going to try my best to get breastmilk going so I want to have at least one option ready.
Right now Im thinking that renting the Medela pump from a pharmacy would be the best way to go, and just buy the parts required for it along with some colostrum and milk store bags, to have ready if needed.
From those of you who have been there, does this sound like a solid plan to start with? Would you recommend something different?
I’m thinking if I do get a supply going I can always order additional things required, such as hands free, travel friendly pumps and more accessories.
If it doesn’t happen I can always return the rented pump and I’ll be left with a small supply of accessories I won’t need.
Thoughts?

Bedside setup to survive first few weeks [ca]

Hi friends! FTM to be here, currently 30 weeks and trying to get as organized as possible to make those first few weeks as easy (lol, right?) as possible on hubby and I.
We have the nursery all set up (crib, dresser with changing pad, rocking chair) but realistically I know baby is going to be spending the first while pretty much 24/7 either in our bedroom or downstairs with us. So my question is: what do you all suggest having set up in our bedroom to make the nights easier to handle? So far we have a bassinet and I plan to have lots of diapers, muslin cloths, burp cloths, wipes ready bedside too. As far as nighttime feeds go, I have no idea what to prepare to possibly avoid having to go downstairs each time (in case we have to formula feed). So please let me know what you found useful and would do again in terms of bed-side setup. Any suggestions are welcome and will be added to online cart immediately!

Baby bath products [bc]

Hi mamas! FTM to be here and wondering what baby bath/shampoo/lotion products everyone swears by? Obviously I want something with no harsh chemicals and baby skin safe, no fragrance. I’m not necessarily looking for something 100% natural as I find that my own skin never seems to respond well to some of the herbs and natural components they tend to use in those, so it’s possible baby won’t react well to them either. So, what’s everyone using on their newborns that has worked well and is baby safe?

Hospital supplies/hospital bag [bc]

Hey all! I’m starting to think about and research what I may need to pack in my hospital bag (for me, baby, partner) and Im wondering if someone can let me know please which items hospitals in BC (specifically Langley or Surrey) provide for you, as well as what they don’t provide that you brought yourself and found to be useful.
I see all these postpartum kits available online, but do I really need to get all that or do these hospitals here provide some of that stuff (like peri bottles, disposable underwear, etc)?
Thanks in advance!

Private Pay Ultrasound [bc]

Hi all! I’m wondering if something like this exists, outside of boutique ultrasound places. Im 28 weeks and Im looking to get an ultrasound that is looked at by a professional or even a doctor. Im feeling some anxiety about the growth of my baby and I just want to get some measurements done and make sure she’s growing on time. I have my next doctor-ordered ultrasound at 32 weeks but I feel like my anxiety will not let me rest til then.
I did go to UC baby in Surrey very early on in pregnancy for a paid ultrasound but I didn’t find that it was a very professional one, just sort of a peek at the baby type of thing. Does BC have any private pay clinics where I could get this done?

Prenatal Classes [BC]

I’m wondering if anyone has taken (or currently taking) any prenatal classes in the lower mainland and can point me to some that you’ve found useful? We live in Langley but can travel out to surrounding cities to attend. (Currently almost 28 weeks, if that matters for this question at all.)
Thanks in advance!

Im wondering if anyone has any “hacks” on getting a discounts on carseats, specifically the Uppababy Mesa. I signed up with West Coast Kids and Snuggle Bugz and got a coupon code for 10% but it doesnt seem to want to let me apply it online, at least not to carseats. I’ve heard Uppababy only has sales once a year for black friday so that’s no help for my August baby.

Has anyone found a way, in stores or online, to get some kind of discount on these, even 10%?

PS. Any other discount hacks, freebies, etc are welcome too!
