My Setup

My Setup

I’m still working out how I want to draw the dungeons (I’m no artist), but my setup seems to suit me so far. I want to tweak a few things. I’ve played 4ad for a while now but I run that completely on my laptop. I wanted to try an analog dungeon crawler experience. I already pnp board games and was surprised at how much crafting this all took. It takes a lot longer to play than 4ad but I’m enjoying the break from little screens.

Booklet Advice?

I downloaded 2d6 Dungeon. I play 4AD but I run that completely digitally. I wanted to try this one mostly analog, aside from some tables I’ll use on a tablet. I was not prepared for all the crafting involved! Lots of cards and charts. I made a functional rulebook but I can’t help but wonder if there’s an easy way to add a more durable cover to it without needing to purchase any additional equipment? Anyone have any suggestions?

Mushroom Monk

I scrolled right past the Mushroom Monk because I thought it was too goofy. But, I needed to replace some dead PCs and rolled a random choice from EE and stuck with what I rolled. I had no idea my new PC Kiniko Shitake was such a badass. And the tier bonuses are super good. I’ll be leveling this guy, assuming he survives.

eBay Find (Under Falling Skies)

I’d been scanning around for a good used copy of Under Falling Skies for a while now. I spotted one on eBay at a price I liked and I couldn’t pass it up after reading the item description.

Another Leveling Post

I've dug through the sub and couldn't find what I was looking for.

I like the slow and sure leveling because I don't want to leave it to chance but I also don't want to level too quickly. I would like to go just a bit quicker, though.

I intend to level a character every 3rd clue found.

I was thinking of leveling a character every 3rd or 5th Major Foe defeated, as well.

Or maybe rolling in one of the scenarios and automatically awarding a level in the other.

I'd love to hear the community's thoughts on this.

Part Must Haves

I haven’t played in months after being really into the game for a minute. I gave away the device I was playing on and essentially lost all my saved info about my guild mistakenly thinking I had backed it up to Google Drive. So, I’m starting from scratch with 4ADEE.

I always want a basic fighter type as the lynchpin of my party. Someone flexible and not too specialized. That’s my biggest must have in a party.

What’s yours? Do you have a preferred party composition?

What makes a game replayable for you?

I’m still relatively new to soloboardgaming. I’m still splashing around a bit, seeing what I like and don’t like, playing with pnp, etc.

There are some games I have really enjoyed but may only play sporadically after a few wins, if at all.

Ive been getting good mileage from Puzzle Dungeon for its sheer variety and challenge and Set A Watch series (and Pocket Watch) because i love the tension, and Kinfire Delve for similar reasons. Heat has my attention after a few plays but the jury is still out.

What makes a game replayable to you and keeps you coming back for more?

Edit: thanks for all the replies. Some of you have sent me looking at games and/or confirmed that some of them need to make it to my shelf sooner or later.

Good Ending to a Rough Week

After a difficult week I didn’t have the brain to really play something so I figured I’d print a few that have been on my list. Now that they’re printed, though, I can’t not take at least one of them for a spin. Gamma Guild looks fun.

Over Before It Started (Set A Watch)

I only have a handful of plays in Set A Watch but this felt like a kick in the old beans after having a decent run on normal difficulty (2 summons in the deck). I’m sure there are worse ways to lose, but I haven’t experienced them yet.

Is there a selection of box patterns in some conveniently located place somewhere on the internet?

I sleeve purchased games but the boxes rarely accommodate sleeves. I have a 3d printer and have printed boxes for some games but I’d like to be able to make them from card stock with the game logo on them.
