Today is the death anniversary of a freedom fighter many Indians have forgotten — Ullaskar Dutta

Today, 17th May, marks the 61st death anniversary of Ullaskar Dutta a revolutionary freedom fighter who sacrificed his youth and endured unimaginable torture during India’s freedom struggle. He was associated with the Alipore Bomb Case and was sent to the Cellular Jail in the Andaman Islands by the British. The brutal treatment and torture he faced there affected him for the rest of his life, yet his contribution to India’s freedom struggle remains unforgettable. It honestly feels sad that many such revolutionaries slowly fade away from public memory with time. We often remember only a few names, while countless others who gave everything for the country remain forgotten.

Today, I just wanted to take a moment to remember Ullaskar Dutta and remind people that our freedom came because of sacrifices made by brave souls like him. Also, if anyone wants to know more about his life and what he went through during imprisonment, I’d really recommend reading Twelve Years of Prison Life. Respect and remembrance. 🇮🇳

M22 India Just getting bored af

Hey, I’m a pretty quiet and introverted person who usually keeps to himself, but lately I’ve been wanting to meet some new people with similar vibes. I’m from India and I’m into wildlife, cinema, music, and history. Most of my time goes into watching films, listening to music, reading random stuff online, or just disappearing into my own thoughts for hours 😭 Looking for chill people mainly from India/Asia because of similar time zones. No pressure to be super energetic or carry conversations perfectly. We can talk casually, share random thoughts, music, movies, or just exist together honestly. You can just drop a simple “hi” in my DM, no need for long intros or anything :)

22M From India, Looking For Chill Conversations & New Friends

Hey, introvert guy from India here. Don’t really socialize much irl, so thought I’d give this a shot 😭 I’m into wildlife, cinema, music, history, and random late-night conversations about literally anything. I can talk about animal facts, old stories, good films, weird internet rabbit holes, or just daily life in general. Mostly looking for people around my age who are easygoing and don’t mind slow replies sometimes. Preferably from India or nearby time zones because it makes chatting easier.

Ngl I’m genuinely overwhelmed by what Swiggy did 😭

Ordered a big nachos pack and they forgot to send the free dip.I contacted customer care thinking they would maybe replace the product or send the missing dip… Instead they refunded the entire order amount 😭

22M From India Looking For Genuine Online Friends

Hey, I’m a 22-year-old introvert from India trying to step out of my comfort zone a little and meet some new people online :) I’m into wildlife, cinema, music, history, late-night conversations, random facts, and sometimes just sharing memes or talking about life. I can spend hours discussing a great movie scene, strange animal behaviour, old historical events, or even how weird life feels in your 20s. Not really looking for forced conversations or dry “hey wyd” chats. Just genuine people who are kind, easygoing, and open to random conversations that naturally turn into friendships. Would prefer people around my age (20-26), especially from India or nearby time zones because it’s easier to chat regularly.

Just finished this book and I’m honestly amazed. The way Jim Corbett builds tension especially those silent, terrifying nights in the jungle while waiting for the man-eater felt so real. At the same time, I could feel the fear and helplessness of the people back then, especially pilgrims traveling to Kedarnath and Rudraprayag, living under constant terror.

It’s not just a hunting story, it’s a glimpse into a very real and haunting time. I didn’t expect to feel this immersed. Absolutely loved it.

So I was casually listening to Fareed Ayaz and Abu Muhammad Qawwal the other day, just enjoying the Qawwali like usual. Then I randomly started reading about them and that’s when it got interesting. Turns out they belong to the Qawwal Bachchon ka Gharana (also known as the Dilli Gharana), one of the oldest Qawwal traditions, going back almost 800 years. What surprised me even more was the lineage itself. This tradition is linked to Amir Khusro, and one of his earliest and most prominent disciples, Miyan Samat bin Ibrahim, is considered a foundational figure of this gharana. The entire tradition has been passed down from that point, generation after generation. And today, Fareed Ayaz is a direct descendant and one of the leading exponents of this lineage, representing around the 26th generation. That’s when it really hit me we’re actually able to listen to something that has been alive for centuries, in almost its original essence. Feels kind of surreal when you think about it. Honestly, if you really want to understand what real music feels like not just something you hear, but something you experience you should listen to them at least once
