Need feedback on our final Sri Lanka bachelorette itinerary (29 Aug – 6 Sept) — especially nightlife on the south coast!

Hi everyone! We’re a group of people from India planning a 9-day bachelorette trip to Sri Lanka and would love a sanity check before we book hotels and transport. Our main goal is good nightlife + beach vibes, with a bit of mountains, safari, and sightseeing mixed in.

Aug 29 – Colombo
Galle Face Green
One Galle Face Mall
Rooftop dinner / drinks
Aug 30 – Colombo → Nuwara Eliya
Private transfer (~4.5–5 hrs)
Relax and explore the “Little England” vibe
Aug 31 – Nuwara Eliya → Ella (Scenic Train)
Drive to Nanu Oya station (20–30 mins)
Scenic train to Ella (~2.5 hrs)
Sunset from a café in Ella
Sept 1 – Ella
Nine Arches Bridge
Little Adam’s Peak
Ravana Falls
Optional Flying Ravana Zipline
Sept 2 – Ella → Udawalawe Safari → Mirissa
Early morning safari
Continue to Mirissa and check in
Sept 3 – Mirissa
Whale watching
Coconut Tree Hill
Beach clubs / nightlife
Sept 4 – Weligama & Ahangama (day trip from Mirissa)
Café hopping
Boutique shopping
Surfing / jet ski
Sept 5 – Mirissa → Hiriketiya
Short drive (~1 hr)
Surf, beach, relax
Farewell dinner in Hiriketiya
Sept 6 – Hiriketiya → Colombo Airport
Early morning drive via Southern Expressway (~3.5–4 hrs)
Questions
Is this route practical, or are we underestimating any travel days?
Is Udawalawe the right choice for a first safari, or should we switch to Yala?
Most importantly: how is the nightlife in Mirissa, Weligama, Ahangama, and Hiriketiya in late Aug / early Sept? Are the beach parties, DJs, and bars still active during this time, or is the south coast noticeably quieter?
Is one night in Hiriketiya worth it, or should we stay all 4 nights in Mirissa and do Hiriketiya as a day trip?
Any must-visit beach clubs, bars, or cafés for a bachelorette group?
We’re specifically choosing the south coast for the party scene, so honest feedback on whether the nightlife will actually be good during our dates would be super helpful. Thanks in advance! 🍹🌊🇱🇰

Ella scenic train

Hi everyone!
I’m planning a trip to Sri Lanka and want to take the scenic train from Nanu Oya to Ella. I’m a bit confused about the booking process and would really appreciate some advice from people who’ve done it recently.
From what I’ve read, reserved tickets open 30 days in advance and sell out within minutes. I found the Sri Lanka Railways seat reservation website (the official gov.lk one, I think), but I’ve also come across several posts saying there are fake railway websites charging extra, so now I’m second-guessing everything.
A few questions:
Is the official seatreservation.railway.gov.lk website the correct one to book through?
Is it worth trying to book reserved seats the moment bookings open, or is it almost impossible?
If I don’t get reserved tickets, how difficult is it to buy unreserved tickets at Nanu Oya on the day of travel? Is getting a seat realistic, or should I expect to stand the whole way?
Are there any trusted alternatives (agents/websites) that are legitimate and not just overpriced resellers?
Any tips for making this journey as smooth as possible would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Looking for Instagram stores/websites for DIY artistic kits for a bachelorette 🌴🎨

Hey everyone!
I’m planning a beach/tropical bachelorette and want to set up a fun DIY art station instead of the usual games.
I’m looking for Instagram stores, small businesses, or websites in India, that sell aesthetic DIY kits like:
🎨 Paint-your-own hand fans
🍸 Decorate your own vodka/shot/wine glasses
🌺 Beach bracelet or shell anklet kits
🥥 Coconut tumbler decorating kits
🦩 Tote bag painting kits
🐚 Shell photo frame decorating
💄 Lip gloss charm decorating
🍹 Drink charm making kits
Anything else that’s creative, artsy, and fun for a girls’ trip!
I’m mainly looking for stores that sell ready-to-use kits or supplies that don’t require me to source everything separately.
Would love your recommendations for Instagram pages, websites, or even local businesses you’ve personally tried. Thanks! 💕

Bridesmaid Hamper Ideas Needed — Looking for Unique, Memorable & Quirky (Not the Usual Robes/Mugs!)

Hi everyone!

I'm putting together bridesmaid hampers for my girls and I'm trying really hard to avoid all the usual stuff that seems to be in every hamper—robes, mugs, tumblers, candles with generic labels, etc.

I'm looking for ideas that are:

  • Cute and memorable
  • Quirky/funny
  • Thoughtful and personal
  • Things they'll actually keep or talk about years later
  • Not necessarily expensive

For context, we're all in our late 20s and have been friends for years, so I'd love to include things that celebrate our friendship rather than just "bridesmaid" merchandise.

Some ideas I've already considered:

  • Personalized letters
  • Polaroids/memory photos
  • Spotify playlist QR codes
  • Friendship coupons

Would love suggestions for:

  1. Unique items you've received in a bridesmaid box and genuinely loved.
  2. Things you've added to your bridesmaid hampers that were a huge hit.
  3. Small businesses/Instagram stores (especially in India) that do quirky custom gifts.
  4. Any creative DIY ideas that feel special and not Pinterest-copy-paste.

Hit me with your most unusual ideas! 😊

Thanks in advance! ❤️💍✨

Outfit from Scratch

Alright fashion people, let's do something fun 👗✨

Drop your best outfit that you put together completely from scratch — no Pinterest copy, no influencer recreation, just your own styling.

Post:

  • A picture of the outfit
  • Where you wore it
  • The thought process behind it (colors, accessories, vibe, etc.)

Whether it's streetwear, ethnic, formal, maximalist, minimalist, or an absolute fashion risk that somehow worked — I want to see it.

Let's see the fits you're most proud of. 🔥👇

Sabyasachi belt

Looking to buy a Sabyasachi belt (especially the Bengal Tiger one). Has anyone purchased one recently? What was the retail price, and did you buy it from a Sabyasachi store or another retailer? Thanks!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Birthday High Tea at Taj Mahal Palace

Celebrated my birthday here and it was truly a memorable experience. The high tea is priced at ₹4,500 per person (excluding taxes) and includes unlimited champagne.
The food spread was enormous—from Indian sweets like halwa and kaju katli to a wide variety of Western desserts, pastries, and cakes. The savoury section was equally impressive, with plenty of options including seafood dishes.
A standout feature was the Charlie service at the table. We chose the Indian Charlie, and the selection itself was extensive and thoughtfully curated. What made it even more special was that the chef personally came to our table to explain each item, adding a lovely touch to the experience.
The view was impeccable and elevated the entire afternoon. Combined with the stunning ambience, excellent food, and unlimited champagne, it felt like the perfect birthday celebration.
The service deserves a special mention—attentive, warm, and flawless throughout. Overall, a truly luxurious experience that lived up to the reputation of the Taj. Highly recommended for special occasions.

Has anyone been to the Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai for high tea? Worth it?

Hey everyone!
I’m planning to celebrate my birthday tomorrow at the Taj Mahal Palace, Mumbai and was considering their high tea experience.
Would love to hear from anyone who’s been there recently:
How was the overall experience and ambiance?
What was the food variety like (savories, desserts, tea selection, etc.)?
Was it worth the price?
Any particular restaurant/lounge within the hotel you’d recommend for high tea?
Anything I should know before booking?
Looking for honest reviews—good, bad, or average. Thanks in advance! 😊🎂☕️

Welcomhotel by ITC hotels, The Savoy, Mussoorie

Stayed at the iconic The Savoy, Mussoorie and absolutely loved the old-world British-era charm it carries. The property feels royal, elegant, and full of history. The weather in Mussoorie adds so much more beauty to the overall experience, making the stay feel even more magical. The activities included by the hotel were also thoughtfully planned and genuinely fun.

The only area that could use some improvement is the breakfast spread — it was decent, but didn’t quite match the overall luxury experience of the property. Overall, still a beautiful and memorable stay.
