Will the manga really run long enough for us to see a teenage Anya?

Even though the manga doesn't show every single day of the year, quite a bit of time has already passed. But if things continue at this pace, we’ll never get a teenage Anya. Then again, I don't think there will be a time skip, either.

So, will the mission conclude while Anya is still a child, with a time skip at the very end showing her as a teenager, assuming there is a time skip at all? Or will we actually see Anya become a teenager within the manga itself? After all, we’ll likely get to see her graduate from school.

Besides, if the manga hints at a romance between Anya and Damian, they wouldn't just get together during a time skip. But it would also be strange for them to get together while they're still children.

Why is a female Sougo in the Shinsengumi a problem, but not Nobume?

Sorachi had originally planned for Sougo to be a woman. However, he discarded the idea because the Shinsengumi consists solely of men. The umbrella went to Kagura, the appearance went to Otsuu, and the concept of the female samurai went to Nobume. In the Genderbend Arc, we see what Sougo would have looked like as a woman.

Yet with Nobume, Sorachi ended up creating a female samurai in an all-male unit (the Mimawarigumi) after all—since the real Mimawarigumi didn't have any women either.

So why is it not an issue for Nobume to be there as a woman, whereas it was a problem in Sougo's case?

Baseball (the sport) related question

I’m hoping someone in a baseball anime community can answer a baseball question for me.

A pitcher throws the ball to a catcher, and the batter has to hit it. Why does the batter sometimes not swing? He just watches the ball land in the glove instead of stopping it. Why? Isn't the goal to run after hitting the ball? So why don't they hit it?

[What happens to the original soul when the Isekai protagonist is reincarnated as a baby?]

In the Isekai genre, there are three ways to end up in another world: you are teleported there in your entirety (like Subaru from Re:Zero), you are reincarnated as something else (like Rimuru from Tensura), or you are reincarnated as a baby (like Rudeus from Mushoku Tensei).

But really, the MC isn't supposed to end up in a baby's body. The baby was meant to grow up normally, without the MC's soul. Yet, the MC takes over the body. So, what happens to the soul that was originally in the baby? Does it simply vanish? Or does it merge with the MC's soul? Or is the MC reborn into a body that wouldn't have had a soul anyway—like a stillborn case?

Did Victorian-era fashion really look like that?

Are these outfits actually from that era, or are they just inspired by it? They look cool either way.

Ships for Qiao Ling

Who is Qiao Ling being shipped with? I haven't come across any ships involving her so far—perhaps because the male characters dominate everything (which is understandable). But who would be a good match for her? I could sort of picture her with Li Tianxi, though he looks like he's 12 to me (I was actually so shocked to learn that Li Tianxi and Li Tianchen are 19; I always thought they were 12 or something).

I know it’s not just about ships, but she shouldn't be left alone.

Kagura got her hair ornament from Kouka. But Kouka only has one of them, while Kagura has two. Where did Kagura get the second one?

Differences between romantic and sibling relationships in anime

The title might be confusing, but what I’m getting at is how the fandom views the relationship between two characters in one anime differently compared to another. Essentially, two characters might share a certain dynamic; in one anime, they are seen as a potential "ship," while in another, two characters with that same dynamic are viewed as siblings (even if not blood-related).

Take, for instance, two characters who constantly argue and fight: in one anime, this is interpreted as an "enemies-to-lovers" scenario, whereas in another, it’s seen as a typical sibling squabble.

Why do fans perceive the exact same dynamic differently depending on the anime?

The Time Machine in the Vending Machine

When Gintoki runs over Kagura during their first meeting, he tries to flee and searches for a time machine inside a vending machine.

Does a time machine inside a vending machine appear in any anime or is this a reference to an anime?

Will Kagura and Shinpachi stay with Yorozuya forever?

After all, Kagura and Shinpachi will eventually grow up and lead their own lives; they will want to earn a decent living and perhaps start families of their own. Of course, they will always belong to the Yorozuya family at heart, but there may come a time when they want to go their separate ways. Shinpachi is rebuilding his dojo, and Kagura can't sleep in Gintoki's closet forever. Even though they will always be together in spirit, will the two of them continue working for Yorozuya forever?

Kamui with the Yorozuya or Kagura with the Harusame

Which would be worse or funnier?

Kamui with the Yorozuya, sleeping in Gintoki’s closet and going on adventures with them?

Or Kagura with the Harusame, leading a unit and fighting battles?

But both retain their usual personalities—so Kamui is a grinning psychopath, and Kagura is a cute girl who loves pickled kelp. Sadaharu is with Kamui.

Shonen-Anime-Light-Novels

HOT TAKE: Kamui would make a good househusband.

Househusband, husband—something along those lines. After all, Kamui actually has experience running a household. His father was rarely around, his mother was bedridden, and his sister was too young. So, Kamui would have been the one doing the housework; he knows how to cook, clean, and do the laundry. He probably doesn't need those skills in the Harusame, but he has them nonetheless.

And he could look after children. He likely played a major role in raising Kagura, since Kouka couldn't leave her bed and Umibouzo wasn't around. Yes, the others helped raise Kagura too, but Kamui would have taken on a large share of the responsibility.

So, Kamui would actually make a good househusband and father, even if such a situation never comes to pass (though it would be cute).

A precise definition of what a "royal" and a "rebel" are

I’ve always understood it to mean that you’re a Royal if you follow your destiny, whereas Rebels want to determine their own destinies.

But apparently, all Royals are royalty—in the sense of being princes and princesses—while Rebels are the "commoners." That’s roughly the implication, since there isn't a single Rebel who comes from a noble family. Well, there is Ashlynn, but she wasn't a Rebel from the very beginning.

It would certainly fit the series better if the Royals followed their destinies while the Rebels were free to decide for themselves what they wanted.

I don't mean the fact that he is an >!inugami!<, but rather: which real-world dog breed might he be based on?

Does Miyuki have two hair colors?

It always looks as though Miyuki has two hair colors: a dark brown at the bottom and a light brown on top. It isn't a lighting effect, either, since the light brown shade remains constant and doesn't disappear even in the dark.

Surely Abuto and Kagura ought to know each other?

While watching the Yoshiwara in Flames movie, I was reminded that Kagura and Abuto treat each other like strangers. Kagura doesn't seem to know Abuto. And when she introduces herself as Kamui's sister, Abuto is surprised that Kamui has a sister at all. Yet, in the >!Rakuyou Arc!<, we see that the >!two of them had actually!< >!met!<; Abuto >!saved!< the siblings from >!shady Amanto!< and even >!told Kamui to look after his little sister!<. I can understand Kagura not remembering—she was just a child back then, and Abuto has changed—but surely Abuto ought to remember Kagura.
