3 years of bilateral SI/hip pain and 1 of left sided leg/knee pain

40 yo female
2023 had bilateral severe hip pain which doctor told me was in SI joints. CT scan noted mild degeneration.
Since June 2025 left sided hip pain radiating down thigh to knee and below knee cap
Pain worse at night. I can usually get through the day at work without it slowing me down. But it keeps me awake all night, tossing & turning. Can’t get comfortable at all. I track my sleep and move every hour on minimum
Kneck pain
Have had a snapping feeling in my right Achilles tendon, even today shopping with family I can be walking and suddenly scream in pain and have to stop walking
Recently had a retinopexy as hold in my retina, floaters and fluid behind my left eye ball, despite no other eye issues
Life long IBS. Need to know where toilet is at all times, can’t make it 15 mins if the urge to have a bowel motion hits me
Have been told I have costochondritis, always have muscular pain and flare in ribs/chest
This last week had severe heavy bilateral thighs for 3 days. Then massive flare across the hips again, to the point I could not walk, was shuffling in pain. Had to ask work to put me on light duties
After 3 days of severe pain in my hips it has mostly subsided, it’s now maybe 2/10 feels like a stabbing or grinding in my hips

Tests I’ve done:
Pelvic Ct shows I have adenomyosis
Pelvic X-ray shows inflammation of pubic symphasis region
2023 lower back Ct shows mild degeneration of SI joints, small disc bulge l4-l5 (Nil change to disc bulge this year on ct) and I have a haemangioma in this area too
Crp, esr, Ana and all bloods negative
Waiting on HLA b27 results one week now

What’s everyone’s opinion? My doctor is honestly the biggest road block. Tells me bloods are normal. Scans are fairly normal and shouldn’t be the cause of my 10/10 pain. I want to ask for a pelvic/ hip MRI but have a feeling he’ll tell me there’s no need for a specialist referral.

I’m already seeing a gynae for my adenomyosis, should I try get help from him about all this. My GP is useless

Floaters and sparkles

Hello!
So for the last 2-3 weeks I’ve notice on a handful of occasions some sparkles in my left eye peripheral vision along with an increase in floaters I get in both eyes (floaters since 2018).

Today I went to the optometrist who used drops to dilate my pupils and did an exam. Looked at my right eye and then I noticed he spent an awful lot of time looking at my left eye (I didn’t tell him specifically this was the eye with sparkles) and then tells me the left retina has some noticeable pigmentation and possibly a small tear in the pigmentation?

Due to being “symptomatic” he is referring me urgently to see an ophthalmologist who should contact me in the next week…

How worried should I be? He told me if I was asymptomatic he would take the wait and recheck in 6 months approach. Is it reasonable to wait for the specialist to contact me in a week or two or should I be proactive and head on over to my local eye and ear Emergency hospital? I have health anxiety and I don’t want to spiral. My brain is telling me my retina could detach and I might end up with vision loss any minute.

Update on non matching internal doors situation

I’ve gone to Bunnings & found some colour swatches that better match the old door (first pic right door furtherest in photo) and I was thinking to suggest to the painter but with some added gloss? To make it match better.
Quick rundown: The door on the left of the first photo is apparently the same colour as the original door on the right, the original door is oil based therefore looks more yellow. But the painter is against using oil based enamel paints for whatever reason.

Should I just try colour match door better and add a gloss, or should I insist oil based enamel paint to match the original door?

(Original post is a few posts down but I couldn’t add new photos)

Internal doors next to each other don’t match

Painter advised he painted left door correct colour (as per our initial build paperwork from 10 years ago) but says oil based paint is not longer used due to toxicity and smell, so door shade does not match the one on right as apparently oil based has more yellow undertone and also the one he used does not have that gloss.

What should I do? What can I do?

I understand where he is coming from he’s told me all about the cost involved, toxicity of oil based paint, saying we’d wake up with a raging headache until it dries, so I don’t want my request to be unreasonable, but I can’t leave my door like this. It’s been one day and the look of it is driving me mad.

I’ve told him I’m not happy with how it looks and he’s having a think about what he can do to fix it best without using oil based paint.

Abdominal hernia mesh removal after 12 years?

40yo F. I’m fed up with the constant pain, it started almost immediately post op in 2014. Initially if I was slouched while sitting it felt like an adhesion pulling, sometimes it would take a few second to settle the pain, sometimes it would wind me so hard I had to hold my breath. I constantly have a “popping” sensation on the edge of where I believe the mesh is.
Now recently this adhesion type pain is become more aggressive, I was at work sitting up right, wasn’t even hunched forward and it happened. Lasted probably 5 hours of my shift, I was so uncomfortable and had to try breathe through it. Stomach felt tender afterwards.
Last few nights if I even lay awkwardly in bed the pain happens again. If I lay flat it also happens.

I had the pain looked into initially (a few weeks post op in 2014) but my surgeon couldn’t see anything on the CT scan as I’m laying flat, told me my only option was another surgery to investigate.

I’m at the point now 12 years later where I’ve had enough. I feel like my body is constantly rejecting this mesh, I have a million other gastrointestinal problems and I wonder if they are linked. I constantly worry the mesh will migrate or cause a bowel obstruction.

Does anyone have experience with successful abdo hernia mesh removal? I’ve held off because all I’ve heard are horror stories (the mesh is a part of you know and removal can cause more damage etc)

Do we need to purchase this for all Diploma course?

“The current classification used in Australia is ICD-10-AM/ACHI/ACS 13th Edition from 1 July 2025.  This licensed product is available through Eurofield Information Solutions (EIS).
Students can purchase their personal licence with a two-year subscription at the discounted rate of $520 plus GST via this link Eurofield Information Systems.”

Or is this only if done through HIMMA? What about VIC Uni?

Thanks!

Nursing to clinical coding?

Thinking of a future career pivot…
Has anyone done the Masters of health information management through La Trobe?
I met some nurses turned clinical coders during an inservice at work and what they were telling us about their role in the hospital was interesting.
Would appreciate any information anyone has on studying the course, about the workload and whether it’s doable working 3 days a week and especially with the placement aspect of the degree!

Throat tightness?

So I’ve been having this weird tight throat/restrictive/hoarseness since September last year. Went to public ENT hospital who told me it was GERD from too much coffee drinking and prescribed 40mg pantoprazole (a ppi). Went and paid for 2nd opinion from private ENT in Dec who just told me it was globus sensation. I took the ppi for about a week max at a time and it didn’t really change the throat tightness so I didn’t believe the doctor and stopped taking them consistently.

Fast forward 7 months later the throat tightness still here… experiencing food regurgitation after spicy and acidic foods for 2 days (I bent over and my mouth filled with liquid from I’m assuming my stomach?). Fizzy bubbles in my throat when I lay down almost like a fizzy drink in a cup when you see the bubbles escaping. Scratchy pain down my chest/oesophagus area multiple times a day. Sticky throat all the time. Sore throat in the morning. And have noticed the throat tightness worse over night.

Sounds like reflux right? I’m annoyed I didn’t give the PPIs a proper shot. Saw my gp today who explained the initial throat tightness from 7 months ago cold have been “silent” reflux. Does this sound right? Can I switch or get worse like mine seems to have. I’m having a gas and colon in a month… I was convinced my throat tightness was allergy related.
