Pretty Happy With Highway MPG

Pretty Happy With Highway MPG

I know these vehicles aren’t known for efficiency but we’ve been pretty happy with MPG on the highway, which is mostly where we use our 2025 Black Edition.

This past weekend, we averaged 27.5 mpg on a full tank of gas and the Pilot was fully loaded for vacation. I always drive it in normal mode.

Weird question: Does anyone else not like tapping racquets?

I played at a doubles event at my club the other day and everyone kept holding out their racquet to tap. One guy really whacked racquets after every point. I’m always pretty particular about keeping equipment in really nice condition. I’m sure I’m a weirdo but it kind of drove me crazy. Does this bother anyone else or not really?

Do tennis racquet companies keep old molds?

Just curious if tennis racquet companies retain the molds from discontinued models? For example, does the mold for a Pro Staff 6.1 Classic exist in Wilson’s archive?

If so, has there ever been an example of a company reissuing using the exact same mold from years ago?

I want to say I heard of Wilson reissuing the 6.1 Classic at some point years ago but I may be mistaken.

After-market hood vs OEM?

I had a small tree limb fall on the hood of my 2016 Mazda CX-5. I want to pay out of pocket since my rates are already through the roof.

The garage recommended replacing the hood with an after-market hood. It looks like it saves around $200.

Are after-market hoods ok or should I spend the extra $200 and get an OEM replacement?

I think my eyesight is hurting my tennis. Glasses, contacts, or LASIK?

I’m having to face the fact that my eyesight is affecting my game. I’m just not setting up early enough because I’m not picking up the ball until it’s too late. I really noticed it the other night when I played under the lights.

I mostly wear prescription glasses when I’m driving or watching TV.

How many of you wear glasses, contacts, or have had LASIK? If you wear glasses, do they bother you while playing, or do you get used to them? Did correcting your vision make a noticeable difference in your game?

Anyone Else Raised on ‘80s/‘90s Strings Find Poly Lifeless?

I try to keep up with the modern game, but I’ve had the hardest time adjusting to poly strings.

Granted, I have a relatively flat game, so I’m probably not getting the most out of poly anyway. But whenever I try different polys, they all feel so lifeless and muted to me.

When I switch back to natural gut or even a multifilament, it’s always a relief. I feel like I get so much more feedback from the string bed.

I know I’m probably just a dinosaur, but I’m curious: do any other players who learned the game in the ‘80s or ‘90s feel the same way about poly?

How Do I Remove This Pipe to Replace Fitting?

I know this is probably one of the worst questions ever asked here but I could use some help.

I winterize my outdoor shower this winter but there must have been some water left in the pipe as one of my fittings broke. As far as I can tell no other pipe burst.

What’s the best way to remove this short pipe to slide on a new fitting? A non-marring strap/belt wrench?

Is This a Reasonable Estimate for Central A/C Replacement?

Our old central A/C system is on its last legs. We got an estimate for an A/C replacement system 16 seer efficiency, Armstrong Air 5-ton air handler for $17k. They included a Bosch 5-ton heat pump upgrade for an additional $2k.

Our house is 2,100 square feet, two floors, and has high ceilings and a lot of sun load.

Does this estimate sound reasonable for Westchester or is it on the high side?

String Recommendations for a Babolat Pure Drive 2025?

My Pure Drive is currently strung with a full bed of Mach 10, which hasn’t been bad but I’m thinking of trying a hybrid setup since I’m a flatter hitter and want to keep my arm healthy.

I don’t break strings very often and don’t use a lot of spin.

I’m considering going with Tecnifibre X-One Biphase 17 mains and Hyper-G Soft 17 crosses. Does this sound like a decent setup?

Which Size Tennis Bag?

I’m just a club level player so nothing too hardcore when it comes to competition.

I currently have a 6 racquet bag that has served me well but is showing its age. Sometimes I really max it out too and a little extra space would be nice.

I usually have 3-4 racquets with me—not because I break a lot of strings but because sometimes I just want to change it up. I also like to have a sweatshirt, tennis balls, a towel, and some other general items.

I’m wondering if I should go up a size, but a 9 racquet bag seems like overkill for a club level player, no?

What size bag are you all using? Does a 6 racquet bag feel like the sweet-spot or do you generally go larger?

I currently have my Pure Drive 2025 strung with a full bed of Mach 10 at 48 pounds. It’s not bad but poly always tends to feel a little dead to me.

I’m thinking of switching to a multifilament, such as NXT Power 17 gauge in hopes of getting a little more pop. Would this be a decent setup?

Are there better options in the multifilament category?
