I mean, someone has to address the double standards here

It's very weird when people hold Maggie's reaction to Meredith dating Nathan against her, accusing her of being 'immature' or 'delusional'. All Maggie did was have a crush on Riggs, which is pretty common. She doesn't act on it, she doesn't stalk him or anything crazy like that. She has a crush on him and that's that. Meredith was aware of this. Meredith then proceeded to start dating Riggs. Maggie then told Meredith and Alex that she had asked Riggs out, Meredith had the opportunity to tell Maggie that he was in a relationship with her but instead of that she told her sister “Forget him. It’s really time to move on".

Meredith not only proceed to repeatedly lie to Maggie about the whole thing, but then tells Nathan things that Maggie told her in confidence and encourages him to play mind games with Maggie (e.g. have him ask Maggie on a date and let her down easy, then it's behave horribly on the date etc). Then Maggie finds out in a very public way that the two were dating. This happened days after her mother (who also spent months lying to her) died.

Watching it for the first time, I thought it was very clear that Maggie was never angry about the two being together, but rather she was angry that her sister lied to her for months. Its even more engrevious when you consider that Meredith already knew about Maggie's issues with people not being honest with her with her own parents lying to her for basically her entire life. Maggie asked Meredith to just be honest with her, but instead Meredith and Riggs just repeat the pattern of lying to Maggie and then wonder why Maggie gets so upset.

So its rather bizarre when the discourse on this moment keeps being switched around from Meredith lying to Maggie to Maggie being upset about Meredith's lying. Almost every comment or post talking about it downplays Meredith's actions and instead complain about Maggie 'acting like a toddler' or being 'butthurt'. And what no one mentions is that Maggie was angry for about a day, afterwards she was entirely supportive of Meredith and Nathan's relationship, so why do people act like she tried to sabotage their relationship?

The hate for Maggie in this situation feels so manufactured it makes me wonder if people actually watched this storyline, if their blinders for Meredith are that strong or are people just deliberately lying about Maggie to make her look worse.

Day 65 of saying something positive about a character-

Just a reminder that these positive posts are about each individual character so this is not a repost, a low effort post or a lightly reworded versions of previous post.

So enjoy!

Day 64 of saying something positive about a character- Kai Bartley

Oh, mods, if you will allow me, I might point out that the positive posts are about each individual character so this is not a repost, a low effort post or a lightly reworded versions of previous post. I should also point out that this is a positive post on the only non-binary recurring character on the show's history, thus I consider it to be a rather important one in this series and I would hope you would be respectful to the LGBTQ community on this sub and allow their voices to be heard with this post.

Just something that you might want to consider.

For the rest of you, please enjoy this post!

Edit: I just want to say thank you to those of you for putting in effort and commenting in good faith. And to the mods, thank you as well for helping keeping the coversation civil against those who want to argue in bad faith. I know there are plenty of people here who appreciate the work that you do.

What is the current historian consensus of Dr Gustave Gilbert's Nuremberg Diary?

The Nuremberg trials has always been a special historical interest for me. I've read almost every book on the trials but unfortunately, I have not been able to find Dr Gilbert's book, I've only been able to find extracts of it. So for those of you who have been fortunate enough to read it, I do wonder, given its significance in the years after the Second World War, what is the current consensus among historians on Dr Gilbert's account of the Nuremberg trials and his interactions with the Nuremberg defendants? Does the accuracy of his account still hold firm to this day?

Rewatching the 2008 episodes on ITV3. What did Liam say...

Before he got hit by that car? I just heard him say 'And if you see Maria, tell her to get..." and then the rest of it was lost amid the noise when the car came out of nowhere to hit him. Does anyone know what he said? And if not, what do you all think he said?

As an aside, I don't like to speak ill of the dead (even fictional ones) but I couldn't believe how pathetic Liam was acting in the last meeting with Carla. Ignoring all of Carla telling him that the affair was over, being completely dismissive towards Maria and what she needs, and pouting about the fact that he had to actually be faithful to his wife. Rewatching the early episodes just reminded me how much I disliked him (though he still didn't deserve what Tony did to him.).
