Quite sad to think of a future without used videogames

Going to hard off, book off etc... to look for videogames is like a cultural habitat. Going with the kids then they want that weird Switch shark game and it's 1500yen so why not, or finding that game you wanted to try out ages ago and not being able to resist to the supercool cover :) ( looking at you Dynasty Warriors).

I usually buy new, and then once finished I resell for 50%+ of its price in these stores or on mercari, to finance the next game purchase... That's exactly the flow and market that Sony and other companies want to kill.

Do they think people will keep paying full price for a few hours long single player game ?

Not sure how Japanese players are reacting as I'm not active on social media. How's the situation?

How to practice non-arming the ball

Hi, I'm a beginner to intermediate taking group lessons; there is almost no chance for focused individual feedbacks, and I cannot afford individual coaches. I got better at hitting and directing the ball where I want, along with making less mistakes.

The problem is that I'm arming the ball a lot. I understand the concept of loading legs, turning body, racket lag... It's all easy when I'm on the spot and doing shadow swings, but during practice I barely do any of that.

That said, the very few times that I try to practice non-arming the ball, I feel absolute lack of control and the ball just flies away. When I try to get that "whip" feeling, I just have no control at all on where the racket is facing.

I want to practice non-arming more but I can't do it during the group lesson as I would disrupt the flow of the lesson, so I tend to stick with arming the ball for the sake of continuing the exercise.

I have access to a tennis wall, but it's no court and I can't really see where the ball is going.

How can I practice non-arming the ball either at home or with a tennis wall? I want to get better so I can start using the non-arming hit also during the group lessons.

Anyone working in a bakery?

I live in a residential area in Yokohama, and I like those chill local cafes/bakeries and was toying with the idea of opening one. I'm from EU so I'm not really into sweet/fluffy Japanese breads, and I mostly bake pizza so I was thinking to focus on that.

Just wondering if anyone actually operates or work in a bakery and what's your experience! or if you've been thinking to open one too :)

Runescape 3 comeback... or not?

I don't really get how you can confuse a title called Runescape with a title called Real Racing...

Contrasting feedbacks between coaches

I attend group classes.

I'm considered a "pre-intermediate" level in my country (one level after beginner).

There are many different coaches depending on class timings.

One coach said that the grip for volley should be a bit more on the left (starting from continental grip) I then went to the coach to confirm my grip, and I actually found it useful for volley.

Another coach said the grip for volley should be a bit more on the right, I then went to the coach to confirm, and it was definitely a different grip than the previous coach suggestion, and I didn't find it comfortable as it made me twist my arm more.

The more uncomfortable advice came recently.

As I start to hit clearer forehands, I found myself looping my arm above my head after the forehand (Sinner-like). I don't do it on purpose but it helps smooth out the stroke energy, and I've suffered from elbow issues so I feel like this looping puts less strain on my arm.

The coach asked me to avoid the looping and forcefully stop my stroke motion on my back.

What is the benefit of doing this? The hit has already happened and the ball left the racket, what is the benefit of forcing my arm to stop ?

Thanks!

Why is dragon quest builders 2 still full price ?

really wanted to try out Dragon Quest Builders 2 on my switch, it's literally $50 on digital.

It's also close to full price in my country both Steam and Ps5.

DQXI is cheaper and goes on offer often.

What's keeping this ~7 years old game so expensive?

[PS5]Brainless game advice

I need single player brainless game for evenings when I have 0 mental power and just want to look and do cool stuff.

Bought Crismon Desert recently, It was so beautiful and with so many things to do, but I really got overwhelmed, so I want to avoid open world games with many things to do.

I liked FFXVI and I would play it again but it's too story-heavy.

Good soundtrack would be a great plus, I loved the Nier games because of it.

I don't like FPS.

Somehow I keep thinking of something like Zone of the Enders would be nice, so maybe a remake of some old games would be great too.

European style built-in oven?

Hi bakers!

I'll be moving in a new property without oven. I have already an Enro oven for pizzas which I use also for bread but it's pretty small.

I'm thinking to get a proper built-in oven with a tall cabinet, but I'm not sure about the process.

Regarding the oven, it seems the most popular in Japan for good quality European style ovens is Miele. I've read Bosh is also available but the quality can vary heavily depending on models. Honestly I don't need anything super modern or with many fancy functions.

Also I've noticed you can find built-in ovens sold by resellers on websites at a much cheaper price than the official website. Anyone have experience just buying all the items separately? ( oven, cabinet...).

Thank you!

Watermelon is the new Melon

430¥ for a slice (Yokohama). It's like 100¥ per bite 笑

Wondering how many people can afford it nowadays and how many unsold they throw away.

9a lasted 1 year

New record with Pixel phones... last few years have been terrible between overheating, bad reception and other issues. I'm not even a heavy user.

This time, the charging port decided to die, luckily I can still charge it wirelessly.

It was just a week after 1 year so the warranty was out, but thank God I had purchases the preferred care so I can replace it .

I miss my invincible Nexus 4.

Tennis players are really starved for tennis machines!

I was checking Kickstarter for any cheap "just throw a ball" tennis machine, and literally the last 5 tennis machines have been funded 1000%-10000% + from their required funding.

Most of them integrate "complex" technologies, behaviours, AI, app... and they are all still $500-$1000+

In my country the cheapest models on amazon with bad reviews starts around 600$ and they are all copy of each other from unknown brands from China.

I'm just surprised in this day and age it's still supposedly so expensive and complicated to build a tennis machine.

"Is your racket setup for women?"

I went to restring my racket as I've been struggling with some elbow pain and haven't restrung in a year.

Got the Babolat Xcel "comfort power" at 1.25 thickness and asked for 46 lbs tension.

The old man asked me if this is a setup for a woman... I told him no and I wanted something easy on my elbow.

Is it such a "weak" setup?

Can weak people still hit strong balls with proper technique?

I'm a beginner and still working on my technique to improve.

I have probably below-average muscles on my arms as I've started tennis in my late 30s and always did an office job.

My racket is considered light (270g unstrung, 50 tension), Babolat evo drive.

My club coach (no private lesson) sometimes feedbacks me that I shouldn't drop the racket so much when hitting forehand, instead I should swing higher with extended arm.

I often use the weight of the racket to funnel momentum from top to down, so I don't need to use too much of arm muscles to hold the racket high, but by doing this I often seems to hit lower to the ground.

When I try to use much more my muscles and hold the racket higher, I definitely feel much more stress on my forearm and elbow, and I feel I'm hitting with less control using more energy, so I can't do it that often, but the teacher seems to prefer that.

Is it "just" a technique problem, or people with weak muscles could have this sort of disadvantage?

Persona event at theme park in Japan

Went to a small theme park in Japan and they had a Persona anniversary event, with the soundtrack playing throughout the whole park.

Walking around in such an environment with that music felt really like going somewhere in the game :)

Morgana was as annoying as in the game, constantly telling you what you cannot do :D (don't stand up until the machine is at full stop! ")

My tabs have no closing button, inventory, activity, spell... they are all open on my screen with no way to close them.

I've found another post where they suggest to press L or press a padlock, but L doesn't do anything and I have no padlock.

EDIT:

Ok I did it, the following Option is enabled by default: "Disable Shortcuts to close windows, Shortcut keys will highlight the window instead if open" , which doesn't allow to close tabs by clicking on the icon.
