How are you comparing the plethora of new AI tools?

I think it's pretty obvious we're in a boom of AI tools, which to me is a pretty interesting technological window to be in. On the one hand, you have all of the new tools and apps out there showing exactly what AI can do. (Honestly, a lot of them are things I didn't even think about AI doing, it's kind of wild what people are doing with the tech right now.) On the other hand, you've got a lot of apps out there that serve the same general purpose and are vying for the same audience (LLMs - ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini / AI meeting assistants- firefliers, otter / AI video editors - pretty much everything from Adobe to Canva), and then even more niche stuff (fashion AI - A closet, Alta /coding interview apps - Parakeet AI, Locked In). Presumably, these can't all make it, there are just too many of them and some of them are going to. have to fizzle. So, when you go searching for an AI app that does X and you inevitably find a dozen or more apps doing that thing, how are you personally comparing them? I feel like, on many of them, the features are too similar to just do a side-by-side comparison, so it has to come down to things like design, reviews, maybe even interesting quirks. As fellow AI enthusiasts, how are you choosing your tools?

Cheapest way to accept cards for a small business?

I was looking on here to see what people recommend but the most recent post I found was a crazy 11 years ago. I figure there has to be something more up to date but can't find it in Reddit search. Seems like are are a million credit card processors and they all charge different amount for different things. tbh it;s kinda overwhelming me right now. So I know a lot of local places here are using Toast but tbh I low key hate that one as a consumer. I don't need no hate from people thinking I'm trying to get a 30% tip outta them like the coffee shop down the street. I have really simple needs - I want to be able to take credit card in my shop and not loose too much in the fees. I gathered from other forums that Helcim and Kurv are worth looking into for taking credit cards but what else do i need to know/? And what hidden fees or whatever should I bee looking for?

What did you do with your designer bridal shoes when you were done with the wedding?

I know a lot of people choose a shoe just for their wedding day with no expectation of wearing them again, but what about those of us who like the idea of our shoes becoming an everyday shoe? What would you lean into bridal shoe-wise if you wanted your shoe to last beyond the wedding? A color other than white feels almost like a given, but what color would you choose? Would you be more likely to rewear a shoe that's made by a brand known more as a general designer (Jimmy Choos, Louboutin) than a brand known more as a wedding shoe designer (Bella Belle, Charlotte Mills)? Would the style make a difference (stilettos vs low block heel vs flats)? Be honest, have most of your wedding shoes just been sitting in the closet ever since your wedding day?

When AI video and images first came out I feel like it was sooooo easy to tell if something is AI or not, but these days it's getting more and more difficult. And whenever I see video or images on social media I notice that now I'm more skeptical and less likely to believe something is real. That makes me wonder how we're going to be able to know whats real or not in the near future? Do you think a time like this will come? And will anyone (govt, or anything else) find a way to prevent this from happening? idk it's just a weird future to think about. Interested in hearing what you think. (I originally asked this in r/casualconversation but they said to post here cause it is too serious of a question).

edit: u/slothriot in the comments shared promising news that a company called OpenOrigins is working with organizations in UK and Ireland to combat these AI videos in news media

I have a friend looking to move from Toronto. Obviously, a long-distance, cross-province move is always a chore. They've been looking into moving companies that go the distance to alleviate some of the strain, but I worry about him choosing the right company. I was wondering if anyone who has done this specific move (Toronto to Saskatchewan) has any tips. Specifically, have. you used Centennial Moving? I've also heard Miracle Movers is good. Any advice or long-distance tips? TIA!
