Sunscreen while using protopic

Hello, can anyone please suggest a good sunscreen as I'm about to start using protopic on my face. I have darker/asian skin tone so want to avoid heavy creams that leave a white cast.

I have read about La Roche-Posay Anthelios UVMune 400 Invisible Fluid SPF50. Is this any good?

Thank you!

My adult daughter is the only person in my life who has ever made me feel cared for.

I'm 56. I've been feeling depressed about a health condition and been trying to cover up how I feel and act normal as is my lifelong habit because there's no point in telling anyone as nobody really cares.

But she noticed despite me trying to cover it up and asked me if there was something wrong and I told her and she's been so thoughtful and caring since then. Obviously thinking about me and sending lovely messages.

She's always been a thoughtful person but it's a new feeling for me to have someone see through my acting and care enough to ask if I'm really ok.

Northwest Corfu weather

Hi, I've been reading that northwest Corfu is cooler than the south? Is this true and how much cooler? I can't find the forecast specifically for where we're going (Agios Stefanos) next week.

Thank you!

I feel like I belong to this sub more than my family

Like many people I always felt on the outside of my family. Like I didn't belong, was the odd one out, the black sheep.

My siblings and parents were like one group and I was the sole member of another group and there was no crossover or common ground. The other group had connections with each other but nobody had a connection with me.

I was outside the other group looking in but never a part of it.

Having found this sub recently I finally feel I belong somewhere.

Why is my therapist obsessed with asking where in my body I feel my anger?

Today I told her I was angry at my mother for her emotional neglect. But I wasn't feeling it during the therapy session, I just feel angry on and off when I think about how she let me down.

I almost felt forced to say something so I said I think I feel tightness in my chest when I feel angry.

Then we moved on to talk about something else. So what's the point of her asking what do I feel when I feel anger? At first I just said I feel anger when I feel anger and then she said she meant what do I feel in my body.

I just don't see the point of the question. How does it help?

She's a somatic therapist but maybe she's not the right fit for me.

This probably sounds weird but I'd love to have a CT scan of my brain to see how the normal development was affected by the trauma.

Has anyone else thought about this or even done it? It's well known that trauma at a young age (in my case age 10) affects normal brain development and I'm just kinda curious to see how my brain actually developed.

I know my immune system was affected as I have a long term chronic condition which is genetic but was activated/triggered by the abuse/trauma from age 10. Doctors say that genetics load the gun and life events pull the trigger.

And my nervous system was definitely affected as I'm hyper vigilant and constantly triggered.

Bullied by my younger sister

I'm 56 and when we were younger I was bullied by my younger sister who is 5 years younger than me.

She was our mother's favourite/golden child and I was the scapegoat.

The bullying and bossing around has continued to this day.

Tomorrow we have a phone call arranged where I plan to tell her some of the things she's said and done which were really unacceptable.

I'm feeling quite scared which seems pathetic as I'm 56.

She can be very vicious and nasty, often completely out of the blue, but is also sometimes really nice and thoughtful which makes our relationship very confusing.

So far I've never been able to say anything to her in the moment because usually I'm caught off guard and completely bewildered by what she's said/her reaction, or we're in a group situation and I don't want to cause a scene in front of other people.

If anyone has any words of wisdom I would gladly take them on board.

EMDR Does it actually work?

I have been reading about EMDR and think it might be what I need but after already spending ££££££ on therapy that was useless I am very reluctant to spend more money on something that won't help.

The reason I think it might be the right thing for me is because I read that "Unlike traditional talking therapies, the focus is not on detailed verbal description of the event, but rather the internal processing of the memory"

I experienced a severley traumatic event when I was 10 involving my parents during which I was absolutley and utterly terrified and completely paralysed and frozen in place unable to do anything.

I have had lots of therapy over the years about my toxic family but have never been able to speak about this one particular event and I still can't 46 years later. I had buried it for years and wouldn't have been able to recall it but then I started having flashbacks and images came into my mind where I could see the event as if I was observing it from the outside. But there were no feelings attached to the flashback it was purely visual. I can't remember what was said either, it's purely like a still image.

Then more recently I have had emotional flashbacks without any images attached which I believe are from after the event. Feelings of worthlessness and not wanting to be here.

I think I have had other emotional flashbacks in the past which I am only now connecting to this event but tbh they could relate to other things or not even just one thing but my childhood in general.

What I would like to do is remember what happened after the event and what I did as it's all a blank. Also what was said during the event by my dad who was the abuser/perpetrator while my mum watched silently doing nothing to help me.

I just want to be able to get past it and process it without having to actually talk about it which I just cannot do.

Sorry this has turned into such a long post. I was only meant to ask a quick question.

I would really appreciate it if anyone could help and give their opinion on whether it's worth me spending the money.

Thank you.

*Edit post: Thank you everyone for responding. It's a very mixed bag and seems ultimately very dependent on the individual therapist when I was kind of thinking the therapist doesn't matter as much as it's the EMDR that's doing the "therapy".

There's one locally near me who I was thinking of contacting. The problem with working out if a therapist is any good is it takes a while and by that time you've already spent money which might have turned out to be a waste.

I think they all know how to say the right things and use key words which lead you to believe they will be good but then turn out not to be.

Michael Jackson movie triggered me

I went to see the MJ movie and stupidly despite knowing he was abused by his father didn't expect to actually see this in the movie.

The scene where his father beat him with a belt while his mum sat there and watched and did nothing is basically a replay of my life at the same age.

I loved the movie but was traumatized for days afterwards.

My eczema has flared up badly on my face and I want to see a dermatologist. I've had flares in the past and saw a brilliant consultant who has sadly now passed away. He really understood the condition and was really kind and empathetic. He prescribed prednisolone and I was on it for several weeks and it really cleared up and I was fine for over 10 years.

I find many consultants don't take it seriously because it's not life threatening and not severe as such but it's severe to me because it's so visible.

If anyone has a recommendation for someone who is sensitive and sympathetic I would really appreciate it.
