SOS - Egg Eating Chicken(s)

For a while, I thought one of my girls had a calcium issue and her eggs were cracking when she laid, but now I’m fairly certain that, at least one, of my girls is intentionally eating the eggs. It used to be one, but now I’ll find 2-3 spots where the eggs were broken and consumed.

How do I stop this?????

Is this insane behavior?!

Around this time last year, a company reached out to my husband trying to recruit him to their start up company. He went through multiple rounds of interviews and had him fly out of state for more in-person interviews (we had a 4 month old at that point, and a 3 year old). Compensation was discussed with the assumption an offer was coming, only to be told that they were going in a different direction, basically making an offer to a less senior candidate.

Fast forward to maybe a month and a half ago, the company (both the CEO and recruiting partner) reached back out to my husband wanting to revisit the opportunity. It sounded like hiring someone less senior didn’t work out and were wanting to talk with him about leading a department. More rounds of interviews and after delay and my husband reaching back out for an update, the told him that they wanted him to do a “test”, that there were multiple roles he could be considered for.

He was kind of like WTF, why are yall making me do all these interviews if you aren’t sure where I fit, but agreed to do their PAGES test. Literal PAGES. It took him days to complete this. And then had a final interview with someone he would report to. It once again, sounded like an offer was coming.

Over a week went by and nothing, so my husband followed up today, only to be told that they can’t afford him.

What is wrong with these people? His comp never changed. She talked about what they budgeted for the role but never shared what that budget was. And the best part was making him do this days long test knowing his comp didn’t align with what they were looking for. She then accused him of changing his comp expectations.

Osteosarcoma Question

Backstory: we have a 9 year old (10 in November) English Bulldog and about 2 months ago, he was playing with our other dog in the yard when he let out a yelp. He started limping a bit, so we were worried he tore something, but he didn’t seem in pain so we waited to see if it would improve. Maybe a month after that, he was just laying on the carpet, didn’t appear like he was trying to get up, but started yelling really loudly. I managed to get him up but after seeming in pain, my husband took him to the emergency vet.

The did a physical exam, thought it was IVDD and sent him home with paid meds and anti-inflammatories. After a few days, I got him off the pain meds but kept him on the other. The limping improved slightly but I didn’t agree with the IVDD diagnose (our other dog has it so I’m very familiar) so we made an appointment with our vet. There, they did x-rays and said they are pretty sure it’s bone cancer, and referred us to an oncologist.

I’m really struggling with this diagnosis. For 2 months the limping wasn’t bad and is only bad now because they were poking and prodding the area. He’s on meds every 12 hours, but doesn’t appear to be in pain, extremely food motivated, going potty fine, wanting to play and was even trying to chase the lawnmower today.

Is this normal? Or is this because it’s most likely early? I’ve just read it progresses quickly, but for 2 months we didn’t really see any changes. And like I said, the limp seems worse now only because the area was manipulated. I guess I’m trying to talk myself out of the inevitable

Quickly impending goodbye

My husband and I have a 9 year old English Bulldog (10 in November) who started limping about a month and a half ago after rough housing with his brother in the yard. We gave him a couple weeks to see if he improved (didn’t get worse but didn’t really get better) but took him to the emergency vet after he was screaming in pain while just laying on his side. They did a physical exam, said it could be IVDD and recommended rest with pain meds and anti-inflammatories. I was able to get him off the pain meds after a few days and his kept with the anti-inflammatory. However, since the limping was not improving, we took him to our regular vet this past Wednesday for an x-ray.

It was there that he said that the issue looks to be bone cancer and referred us to an oncologist, who we see Tuesday.

It’s not good, from what I’m reading. And I’m having a really hard time processing it. He’s still limping but seemed to be getting around ok, but now he’s limping a little worse. Still eating, peeing, pooping, but mostly lays around.

How do you know it’s time? For myself, I’m having a hard time making it through each day without it consuming my thoughts and crying. I don’t want to be home but I don’t want to be away. I struggle with making a decision too early but what are you supposed to do, push them to the max?

I’ve never done this before so I’m just having a really hard time with it
