Hidalgo pushed back on what she characterized as a rushed process that didn’t include community input.
“If we are really open to accountability, then we would not be trying to ram this through,” she said, and again referenced commissioners’ failure to pass her initiative last year to place a measure on the ballot allowing voters to approve funding for early childhood education.
The contract ultimately passed with four votes. Hidalgo abstained.

Northern parts of Harris County would see biggest impact of new flood maps, Rice researchers say

Harris County Precinct 3, which includes both northeast and northwest parts of the county, would see the largest increase in homes added to the floodplains out of any county precinct. The precinct would see a 103% increase in single-family homes in the floodplains and a 113% increase in multifamily homes in flood risk zones.

I think we are going to see a mass exodus from Houston when all those people have to start paying flood insurance.
