Any current players of Clok?

Hi, R/MUD, Many years ago, back when I was younger and more sociable than I am now, I used to eat, sleep, live and breathe Clok. I didn't get too much into the lore, but I was big on role playing at the time and absolutely loved my various characters, especially my artisan and my elemancer. Some of my fondest memories, besides some of the role play messes I got myself into, involved spending hours alone in my artisan's rented workshop trying to forge nails until I got something that vaguely resembled nails. If I ran out of metal, no problem. Go to the mines for a few hours, mine up a bunch more metal, and go back to the workshop to do it all again. I eventually fell out of love with Clok, and then eventually it folded. Now that it's back, I've tried a couple of times to get back into it with little success. I currently find myself feeling lost and MUDless. Nothing seems to hold my attention for very long or provide that same dopamine rush as before. THis has only been a problem for about the past six weeks. So tonight, I was thinking and wondered what Clok is like now from the perspective of current players. I've not revisited it in at least a year, I don't think. Is anyone who is currently playing there able to tell me what the game's like these days? Has the artisan class been reinstated? Because when I last tried to play I don't think it had been. In your opinion, from a current player's perspective, what are some of the perks and drawbacks? Does it keep you coming back again and again, and if so why or why not? Sorry this was so long. I'm really wanting to find my MUD groove again. I just don't know where the hell I put it. LOL.

Prince - I would die 4 you

When I was about nine or so, I was absolutely obsessed with Prince. Everything about him. But I had some really crazy notions about some of the lyrics to the Purple Rain soundtrack. Here's what I mean.

"I never bit you I never lied And if you're evil, I'll forgive you by fire cuz you I would diaper you. Only if you want me to."

Yeah, I was a very strange kid.

Is there something wrong with me?...Or is Necro an acquired taste?

So, I'm relatively new to horrorcore. I mean, I've been listening to ICP since the late 90s, but other than that I didn't really discover what I guess is considered true horrorcore until just fairly recently. As such, I've been experimenting with listening to several artists I've read about to see what holds my interest. This morning, my experimentations led me down the Necro rabbit hole. I was really looking forward to this because I was already in a pretty dark mood and thought an album entitled "I Need Drugs" would suit me perfectly. However, I could only get through the first three and a half tracks before turning it off. It wasn't that I had any issue with the lyrical content. But to me, the guy sounded like he was rapping with slight speech issues. I'm not hating on people with disabilities as I am blind myself. But I just had a really difficult time getting into his flow. I liked the music pretty well but...I don't know. I just couldn't really get into Necro. Is there something inherently wrong with me or is he just not for everyone? BTW, I followed up the failed Necro experimentation by listening to King Gordy's Cobain's Diary, and I was so entranced that I sat and took in the entire album. Loved every second of that.

Can y'all help me work out a misheard lyric?

Hi,

New to r/juggalo, but not really new to ICP. I don't post here much because I tend to stay to myself. But I got a question maybe someone can help with.

I've been obsessing lately about the song "Hate her to death" off Mighty Death Pop! In the hook, I have always heard the following: "I want you off this planet You don't want me and I just can't stand it." However, went to look up the lyrics on Genius.com just to read up on the song and the lyrics. And the lyrics there said "You don't love me and I just can't stand it." I played the song a few more times and I still hear "You don't want me." Is my hearing fucked or are the genius.com lyrics wrong? Thanks fam.

Destiny's Child: Bootylicious

Had a friend once whose little girl thought the lyric was I don't think you're ready for fish jelly.

No, I can assure you I am certainly not ready for fish jelly and probably will never be.

Wondering if someone can help me place this song

Hi,

Have been really interested in the horrorcore genre for a number of years. I've listened to stuff like ICP since around 1998 or so but for a long while have wanted to dig a bit darker and deeper. One night a few years ago, really don't remember how long ago now, I was watching a video on youtube about the most disturbing horrorcore tracks. Honestly, my memory is very fuzzy because I've slept many times since then. But I distinctly remember a track being featured on this list, and I want to see if I just imagined it or if it really exists and if so what it is, like artist and/or title. I really don't remember tons about the song, but what I do remember will probably be enough to spark someone's memory. The part of the track that was played in this video contained a vocal that was meant to sound like a little girl, and the only lyric I remember was something to the effect of "Daddy fuck me like a five-year-old." I should add that I'm blind and was not able to see any text that may have shown on screen during the video, so tracking this song down with only those barely remembered words has proven difficult to say the least. That video seems to have long since disappeared, so I can't even find any proof that it ever existed. Does anyone here know what I might be remembering or did I just dream this? Does a song like this even exist? Thanks for any help.

Dartmud: My Initial Kneejerk Reactions

Hello, Recently, another user in this sub posted a glowing review of Dartmud. I had been on the fence of trying this mud for quite a while, but yesterday evening I decided to finally jump off the fence and see what all the fuss was about. I really, really hoped I'd like this mud, but I will be brutally honest and admit that I didn't even make it through the tutorial before a couple of red flags went up in my head. The main red flag was that there seems to be absolutely no screen reader support whatsoever. When I noticed that traveling outside the main city was going to require viewing a map, and that the map in question, according to what I saw when I tried the survey command as per the tutorial was completely inaccessible, I kind of thought well surely they've made some kind of accommodation for blind players, right? It's 2026, so surely they must have. Sadly, no, they have not, and if they have, I was not able to find it by the usual help channels, such as help accessibility or help screen reader. What I did find was that multiple other requests had been submitted for the same help files. So, clearly this has been in demand for some time but for whatever reason has not been implemented. Since there are absolutely no global channels in the mud, it's impossible for me to ask whether screen reader settings exist but maybe under a different help category. This is extremely off putting to me as a blind gamer. Still, I soldiered on through the tutorial hoping that maybe I would find a reason to overlook the lack of screen reader support and play the game anyway. However, when I got to the part of the tutorial addressing combat, and read some of the help files addressing combat, my brain turned to a pile of mush and I promptly quit the game then and there. No screen reader support and an impossible to understand combat system does not make for a fun time in my opinion. I could possibly overlook one or the other, but having both stacked against me is a pretty instantaneous no. As I said, these are just my knee jerk reactions. THe game is probably awesome. Lots of people sing its praises and probably for very good reason. These are probably all people who don't need any kind of screen reader support and are smart enough to understand an overly complicated combat system. I really, really wanted to like this game because I'm sure I would have enjoyed the crafting system if nothing else. And maybe I didn't give it enough time. I would accept that as a fair criticism. It's just hard to put in time playing a game in which the devs haven't put in the time to make the surveying system accessible to everyone. In this day and age, and as popular as mudding is for blind players, that should sort of be a no brainer.

Looking for soloable or multiplayable sandbox experience

Hi all, Let me start by saying that I've been playing MUDs since around 1996. So I've been around a long, long time. I'm not a spring chicken anymore, and to be honest, the older I get the more picky and introverted I get. So, here's a bit about what I'm looking for. I'm also going to include the MUDs I've played before and why they worked or currently may not be working. I'll try to be as thorough as I can. I know this might be long, so if you make it all the way to the end, you get brownie points for reading so far. :) What I want: I'm looking for a true sandbox experience. Log in. Spend all day gathering resources and crafting if you want to, and when you get tired of that, go fishing or slash the hell out of a bunch of mobs just for kicks. The world is your playground, do what you feel like doing. However, I'm also looking for strictly PVE. If PVP does exist, I would prefer it be something I can opt out of and avoid as it's not my thing. I don't care what others are doing, just as long as they leave me alone. Also, I don't care about whether there is a ton of RP going on. I'm not much of a roleplayer anymore, so it would be nice if that's also optional because there might be a day when I may actually enjoy it. It definitely needs to be screen reader friendly as I am blind and can't do ascii. Finally, it needs to be either completely soloable or at the very least allow me to group up with my own characters if possible. I'm not saying I want to be the only person connected. I just don't want content that's only achievable if I group up with a ton of others. Oh and please no P2W. I'm not financially able to do any of those type things. Customizable player housing is also a huge plus.

What I've played before and why they worked and didn't: Coffee Mud: This remains a favorite and I've stuck with it for about five months, which is honestly a record for me. For the most part, it ticks a ton of my boxes. However, so many things can go wrong with no explanation as to why. For example, say you're working on building an area in your clan property. You want to construct something that requires 250 wood or stone or whatever. You've gathered up what you need, and you set about building your project. You get 97 percent completed with the project and then all of a sudden, without warning, you get a message that says you failed at building your project. And just like that. All 250 of your resources, gone. And it gets worse. If you happen to be building something like a ship or a caravan, you're looking at upwards of thousands of wood or stone that could be lost if the project goes awry. I started out being mostly okay with this, but as time has worn on, this just gets more and more disheartening. So much wasted time and potentially wasted resources. Otherwise, the game is great, the community is cool, I get to group up and cast buffs on my own characters, and fun times are had.

Procedural Realms: This might really be what I'm looking for. I've not given it a fair enough shot since the huge update in December, but it could be the answer to my quest. So, it's still a strong contender.

Erion: I love this game, but you can't cast buffs on your other characters. Otherwise there's lots to do and it gives me the sandbox feel I like. Craft if you want to, gather resources if you want to, kill everything in sight if you want to. It's all good. So strong contender other than the rules against multiplaying.

Usurper Reborn: I like this one but haven't spent enough time with it to know if it will scratch the sandbox itch. I don't think so because I don't think there's crafting. Also, I'm not sure where to find a single player version of it. I thought I'd include it here for posterity.

Honorable Mentions: Awakened Worlds SE: I've been thinking about this one a lot lately. I don't know if there is any crafting and resource gathering. I also never quite got the hang of training skills. However, the idea of doing tons of missions and climbing up the ladder to better housing accomodations kind of appeals to me for some reason.

Nukefire: I spent a bit of time on this one just this morning and had a good time with it. However, I kept seeing people reaching remort level in like 2 hours or something, so it felt like everyone was just rushing to get as powerful as they could get. Also, I couldn't find anything about player housing or crafting. Still, this one looks fun. I'm just not really into the gaining levels as fast as humanly possible. It can be fun to do every so often, but I don't want to be a constant thing every time I play. I like to take my time and enjoy getting there. Haelrahv: I'm not sure what happened with this one. I spent a few months there like a year ago and thought I was really enjoying myself. And then I just kind of got burnt out on it. I think it might check a lot of my boxes. I just can't seem to get back into it though I've tried.

So there you have it. Is there anything out there that exists that I haven't tried yet, or can I find what I'm looking for in a place I've already been? Thanks for reading this far if you did.

VIP Mud having issues?

Hello,

I recognize the fact that VIP mud is not always the best client for some, but for me it has ticked all my boxes for many years, so I'm kind of attached to it. However, for reasons unknown to me, it seems to want me to input my registration information which it then does not accept. I've had this client registered for at least a decade now and have never encountered this problem before. What's more, audiogames.net also seems to be having problems because it also doesn't seem to want to accept my account credentials, and I haven't changed those in forever. Does anyone know what might be going on with either of these entities? I can easily use vip in demo mode but shouldn't have to as I know my registration is completely valid.

Hello! I believe I've actually found my home MUD in Coffeemud. It has pretty much everything I want and then some: Robust crafting and artisan classes, multiplaying is completely legal, fun combat and even ways to build and create your own area that every character on your account can contribute to in their own way. However, today I've been seeing a few mentions of a place called Medievia. Curious, I visited the website, which makes some extremely big claims. I'm looking for experiences from actual players because I'd like to know if I should put any stock in those claims. The game is supposed to be more rich in features than any mud I've ever played...or something to that effect. Well, does it in fact offer as robust of a crafting system as my current favorite? Can I eek out a living for myself by gathering resources, crafting equipment to sell or give to my clan mates, skinning and butchering mobs for meat and pelts to cook or sell? How's the combat? I read I can have up to nine people connected from my account, but can they all belong to the same clan, bloodline, family, or property? To me, these are the things that make my current MUD something I can't do without. I'm just wondering if Medievia might also offer something similar and may be worth a look, or is the website just making huge empty promises?
