class schedule

Does anyone know where/how I can find the class schedule for dental school, to see when we get out and if there’s anything on the weekends or anything? Also, is there usually something mandatory/you have to go on the weekends?

Does the school provide this and when?

Pitt Dental

Hi, I was not sure where else to post this, but if anyone here is a student at pitt dental school, can you please talk about how your experience here has been? The didactic and clinical side as well as the schedule! Any advice or information is helpful. I have not seen much on tiktok, insta, or reddit in regards to this school specifically

could a dentist be unemployed?

So I see that new schools are opening up frequently, and bc gen dentists don’t have a residency, realistically, could over saturation get to a point where dentists could be unemployed and not find a job?

Before that point, is there anything that would be done to prevent that?

I wonder if maybe they’d require a one year general dentistry residency also

at crossroads with medicine

Hi, so my story is I was pre med for basically my whole life kind of as a default. I do really like the human body and physiology, but in college, I fell with the wrong people which made me not prioritize studying. Hence, I tried studying for the mcat during the school year but it just never worked out and I never had the discipline or maturity to do so. In order to avoid taking a gap year (family pressure), I ended up taking the mcat started studying right after finals ended in May with 20 days to study. Needless to say, I did not do well at all. My parents were super disappointed and mad bc they just thought I didn’t care and that it’s an easy exam i messed up on. They pushed me to apply to a diff healthcare field instead and I ended up getting into a pretty respected dental school for around 200-250k total. (also, it’s not easy for some to dissociate their parents thoughts, they’re immigrants and pay for everything)

Now, I am close to starting school soon, but idk if i’m idealizing medicine. I just can’t shake off the feeling of what if I tried and what if I actually worked hard, instead of being a dumbass in college. I could have possibly gotten in. I’m fine with dentistry it’s alright, like managable. I’ve shadowed it, and it’s fine just very repetitive. Medicine is my dream, but i’m not sure if it’s worth the gamble of losing all of this. I’m really at crossroads. What do yall think?

CBSE studying?

How does CBSE studying happen? I have tried finding guides on how to study for it, but have had basically no luck. I don’t even know where to start tbh.

Also, when should i start studying? I would not like to take any gap years and also have the max amount of time studying! If anyone has tips, it would be very appreciated. I am very free this semester, before starting dental school, so would like to possibly get a head start for the cbse if feasible

specializing in dental school

Hi i’m an incoming dental student at a school known for specializing. I am undecided on specializing but don’t even know what I would specialize in if i were to choose to. Anything from peds to omfs, i genuinly have no clue. How do I make sure I come into school and do it in a way that nothing would limit my options in the future?

I know the biggest thing is grades and class rank, but besides that. Bc i know research, shadowing, externships, clubs are also important but i don’t know what to specialize in as of now.

For example, if i choose to do endo its different then what I need if i wanna do omfs

On the adea application it asks for degree expected date. When final transcripts with conferred degrees are sent to the school ur going to, do they cross reference this to make sure they match.

Going along with that, is it an issue if they do not match. Assuming it’s not bc of failed classes, Gpa dropping, etc?

On my application, I listed my expected graduation as December 2025. However, on my actual university graduation form, I selected May 2026 just to be safe in case I needed extra classes for specific programs and would have to be enrolled in college.

I have already finished all prerequisites. I am not taking any classes this semester (Spring 2026), which is what i wrote on my original submissions

Since I already have my acceptance and my GPA/prereqs are finished, I emailed my dental school 1.5 weeks ago that my final transcript will be conferred in May instead of December even tho I finished my coursework then? I have not gotten any response yet, do yall think I’m in trouble and my acceptance is in trouble? My undergrad does not care

I may be overthinking this, idk i’m scared

Hi, so a little backstory, I was premed for the longest time till the time came to take the mcat in May of last year. I realized i don’t wanna do medicine. i had a premed background with the type of classes i had taken. So that worked out well. I decided to try to apply by the end of July, so I had around 1.5 months to get everything in order with the biggest hurdle being the dat.

I started studying seriously on June 20th and took the exam july 5.

For biology, I started off with like a 20/40. I tried watching the videos at 2x speed. It was really boring and i was distracted, so I just did the biobits. I’d say i finished a quarter. My main tip is to just review the review sheets every single night. Use active recall do not just read them over. I highlighted, annotated etc every single day multiple times a day bc the info is so dense. I also had not taken physiology at that time so it was a lot of self learning. I recommend using Anki too. But not the booster one it’s way too long. I found some consolidated version on reddit that supplemented the review sheets. And then I did the practice exams, each and every one. For this, do not look up the answers. Answer to the best of ur ability. Then, my review process i would go through all the questions i was unsure about or was wrong, take a picture of it and then annotate why I am wrong and what is right. I’d review these constantly.

For ochem and genchem I had the same process. I spent a ton of time of ochem esp bc I didn’t do the best in that class in undergrad. I went over every single rxn mechanism bank any chanceI got. I went through it multiple times. Genchem, I just looked over the formula sheets and practice exams. I tried doing the qbanks but i ran out of time.

For reading, I use search and destroy. Just read fast and act like ur super interested in wtv you read. It will help keep focus. I did three practice sections overall. For math, i memorized all the formulas and did three practice sections. On the real exam i ran outta time on this section. For PAT, I can’t offer much tips but just practice constantly. I never took a complete FL. just spammed sections

Overall, I got a 460 AA, 460 TS. good luck!

what do you think the future is?

I’m seeing a lot of people scared regarding the BBB and the new schools opening. What do yall think the actual future of dentistry is? Will it be saturation in major cities even out? Will schools shut down as a result of the BBB? Will there be less applicants? How will insurance, salaries, etc be impacted?

Just curious to here what you guys think the future is bc obv it’s changing a lot due to BBB for the most part along with rising inflation and costs

Hi so my skincare concerns are that I have congestion on my forehead, characterized by closed and "orange peel" texture. PIH on my cheeks and around the mouth. I have a medium skin color and tan easily.

I have treteinoin and use it kind of inconsistently, but do have a tolerance towards it and don’t purge or anything. I have a bunch of skincare products I have bought but am getting very overwhelmed with what I should be using. Ik I should use tretenoin and sunscreen fs, but not sure what the rest of these for my specific skin concerns

- Vitamin C

- TXA

- azelaic acid

- BHA
