Pocket Operator Hard Techno V3

Pocket Operator Hard Techno V3

This sampler only holds 40 seconds of audio, and allows for 16 different patterns.

I designed/pre-mixed every sample before loading it in, drums, synths, etc,

Planned out a huge pattern sequence where I had to recycle patterns at certain times for alternate fills/melody variation.

The vocal is my raw pitch, just heavily compressed.

As the track plays, I'm punching in live FX, along with muting/changing drums/synths, allowing me to stack many different flows within the same 16 patterns.

The audio is raw/unmastered, straight from the sampler because I really wanted to showcase how much you can do with the sampler alone.

Hope you enjoy:)

Just something I'm working on [PO-33]

I started out very early with the chords and drums, now I have the rest of the month to add melody, improve the mix, and some more ear candy 🫠

Any good modern dubstep that has that OG flow?

I remember seeing vids here and there of DJs playing some newer dubstep that does the wobbles instead of sounding pulse-y/riddim influenced, and the wubs were just diabolically heavy! I'm not that good with finding new artists in the genre, so any cool recommendations would be appreciated!

edit: THANKS FOR THE TRACKS! I'm hyped to check them all out

KO users, what's the wildest/coolest thing you've sampled?

Some of mine include:

Turning windshield wipers into tom drums

Firetruck siren into a hoover lead

Sampling real acoustic drums

Microsampling people's voicenotes and turning vowels into "synth" basses

Scissors

My demonic-ass voice

My favorite thing to sample are just deep inhales, only to turn them into risers and claps!

I'd love to know the kind of crazy stuff you guys have flipped :)

One of my heaviest tracks vv

ABOUT ME:

I make electronic music, and I do everything all within a tiny cheap sampler called a Pocket Operator (PO-33 KO!)

This sampler only gives me 30 seconds of recorded sound to work with, along with 4-voice polyphony(only 4 different sounds can play at the same time) and I can chain up to 128 patterns for a sequence.

With these limitations in mind, it forces me to get really creative with sampling/sequencing, on top of that, I make all of my synth presets, and design my own drum kits from stock ableton sounds, I don't use AI 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 and I rarely polish my tracks after recording, as I want to showcase how good a KO can sound entirely on it's own.

My main genres are Techno/House/Midtempo/Dubstep, and I am pioneering a genre blend of Trap and Techno that makes 808s obsolete.

The artists that inspire me most are Daft Punk, Gesaffelstein, and mainly electronic artists that make music to express their vision instead of for mass-appeal.

Demonic Calculator Music. [PO-33]

My best midtempo track made entirely on the KO! The production process went like this:

I started off with the bassline, I went to the absolute base of my keyboard and kept cycling through presets until I found the right sound that made the deepest yet most present tone.

After that, I sampled some fm melodies I made, and chopped/re-pitched certain notes, giving me different ways to phrase the melodic line.

The upper melody was a square wave drowned out in reverb, playing simple yet highly dissonant lines that were anchored by the bass.

The drums have my signature kicks, 808/606 hats, and I spent the most time designing the clap to be icy and punchy asf, levelling it with the mix so it doesn't overtake everything else.

The sequencing was key to keeping the whole thing from going stale, I kept the upper melody in mind and chained patterns to make it the least repetitive part of the track, certain patterns were repeated at different parts of the beat to have more efficient transitions since there's only so many patterns I can switch to.

I'd say my favorite moment is when you hear just the bass, followed by a crazy pitch-bent chord that throws your brain allover the fkn place 😂

I have made a couple spooky/midtempo tracks before, but this is easily my cleanest one that I think best represents my inspirations, and my own efforts to contribute to this genre.

Hope you enjoy!

When you have a literal Acid-Rave in your pocket [PO-33]

The acid synth is actually tweakable!

I'm also editing the drums live, hope you enjoy :)

PO-33 Custom Drum-Kit Tutorial!

My favorite tutorial got deleted off youtube, so I figured I would make a vid myself to help teach newer KO users. Hope you enjoy!
