Can somebody please help me understand ICD Codes in a lab order by your doctor
I just started looking into the meanings of the ICD Codes on a lab order and some of these "diagnoses" are things which have not only never mentioned by me or my doctor, but are things which would be obvious if if were an issue for you, and you would definately know it, but they are not. I mean some, I get, but some seem just not at all apliccable So I don't get it.
Am I correct in my understanding that ICD Codes are diagnoses?
And as far as a situation you would definitely know, I'll give a hypothetical example, which is probably not even a real ICD code, but what if, for example, a code, once looked up, turned out to mean "freququent falls", like that, is something you would definitely know if you were affected by.
But there's things on there, that I just don't know where they come from.
How & why does this happen?
And as for other things not so clear is it fair to assume that the inclusion of an ICD Code means the doctor wants to check to see if these are things possibly affecting me?
Or are the ICD Codes supposed to be things that have been noticed or observed by him or somehow indicated some relation from other tests, etc? And they are considered to already be issues ...?
Or both?
I need some clarification
