What do you think of the dejesterfication of the TV show?

In the books jesters seem to be everywhere in the courts of the lords and kings of westeros, but in the TV show they hardly ever appear

They keep ser dontos but none of the others, even significant characters like patch face are gone. And the singing jester whos present while Olena grills Sansa about Joffrey doesn’t exist

Were all the jesters too silly for the show? Were they even a good move in the book? Or did their exclusion take away from the feel of the world?

Personally i think they were abit much in the booms and it would be hard to adapt their scenes for a tv show that was meant to be gritty and bloody. But i am sad they didn’t appear at all even in a lessened role

Raegar didn’t start the Rebellion

I don’t think you can legitimately blame Rhaegar for the fall of the Targs. His father is pretty much entirely to blame and Rhaegar tried to replace his father, he was pretty much the only one in his family who built up the kind of popularity with the lords and people which would have let his rule be stable.

And him running away with Lyanna didn’t trigger a rebellion it triggered a complaint. Burning to death the Stark lords caused the rebellion. If the king wasn’t so fire obsessed he could have probably had Lyanna married to Rhaegar and Elia divorced. He was king after all

My friends are going on holiday with someone else

This year I’ve been trying to go on holiday more and so I’ve been asking my friends if they want to go. Two of my friends, who i considered my best friends, kept saying they would love too but couldn’t afford it (even when i offered to pay) or didn’t have the time but last night I found out they were going on a big group holiday with a bunch of people they know from their hometown.

Should I confront them about this? I have been feeling kinda lonely most of the year and I feel I’m putting way more effort into hanging out than they are. I care about them alot but i feel like they are just coasting by and not really showing that they care for me.

Should i tell some Im not interested

A women about my age (25m) has moved into my shared house and i want to make friends with her since there is nobody else close to my age here. Everyone else is in their 50s or older. We went on a day trip to the aquarium and looked around an old national trust house together afew weeks ago and it was fun but we haven’t done anything since.

Both of us are busy people but i do want someone i can go on daytrips with who lives locally. But i feel like she has been kinda distant since our first outing and I’m worried that I’m coming across as interested or creepy.

My friends at work immediately interpreted our daytrip as a date when i told them what i did over the weekend and so I’m worried thats how it came across to her too. Do you think i should straight up tell her I’m not interested and just want a friend or should i just leave it and see if she wants to go on another trip some time. Ive been kinda starved for friends my own age since leaving my hometown for work and she is fun to hang out with. Anyone have any tips on what i should do?

Did anyone else find Obsession hilarious?

This seems to be where people have gathered to talk about Obsession lol,

Did anyone else find the movie kinda hilarious, obviously its a horror movie so lots of it was horrific, but scenes like the party at Ians place and the billion dollar wish just had me chuckling in the cinema, and honestly the scene with the customer support call too. Also the second scene in the shop were the guy just tells him to kill himself. Idk I thought it was a pretty funny movie but i felt abit like a psychopath chuckling in the cinema when nobody else was. Did anyone else see the humour?

Its pretty much the first horror movie ive watched (unless get out counts) so i wasn’t sure how id react but i had a great time, maybe i should watch some more

Coins plan to hold a capitol hunger games was dumb

One of the reasons the hunger games was effective was because it stoked fear and division in the outlying districts while ensuring the capitol residents were entertained and desensitised to violence towards the districts.

But crucially Snow was in the capitol and surrounded by the beneficiaries of the hunger games system while the districts were far away and unable to do anything to him.

Coin, however, would still need to run Panem from the Capitol but now, thanks to her new games, all the residents of the capitol would be united against her. This would put alot of strain on the civil service, which would likely be in near rebellion alot of the time, and would mean constant assassination attempts and attacks on her government buildings.

Aside from the moral considerations I think coin was blind to how her plan for revenge would implode her government within afew years and lead to another civil war. You do need the capitol civil service and security apparatus to keep Panem together

How much does hunger impact the hunger games?

From what i can tell the hunger games usually lasts one or two weeks. You can definitely live that long on little or no food so how much would hunger effect you, even if you weren’t killed by it you could be weakened i guess. But even then you have had a couple of weeks to eat up and gain some bodyweight in the capitol before the games begin

I know thirst could easily incapacitate or kill you but how much would hunger matter?

but i think thirst would be a much more

Is Tyrion smart or just rich?

Tyrion is often praised for being smart and getting himself out of trouble with his wits

Tyrion gets put in a sky cell and bribes the jailer to get him an audience with Lysa Arryn

Then Tyron implicitly offers loads of gold to anyone who will fight for him in a trial by combat

Then Tyrion is accosted by tribesmen and bribes them with gold and weapons

As soon as Tyrion gets separated from his gold he has to be bailed out by a vengeful Obryn and then his loving Brother then he goes to advise Dany and makes a mess of it, was Tyrion only ever perceived as smart because he had so much gold he could bribe people with? The same way Tywin is only seen as a great commander because he can buy a massive and well equipped army with all his gold?

The mountain is an overrated fighter

The mountains great feats:

  1. Kills some peasants
  2. Bests two babies in a fight to the death
  3. Bullies a child
  4. Loses a joust
  5. Kills some more peasants
  6. Loses to Edmure
  7. Has one proper fight, barely wins and dies immediately after from his injuries

Everyone treats him like some amazing fighter who anyone would struggle against but he doesn’t do anything particularly impressive, all he is is tall
Also he cant cope well with bright lights and loud noises Nd is constantly drowsy from milk of the poppy which is quite a big problem for a knight to have, theres probably a reason Tywin keeps him away from the proper battles
