Darken Rhino? Help with WB Colors

Not quite done with either. Been going through some Legionnaires and a Rhino as part of my attempts to put together some WB.

For the Legionnaires I did a slapchop method. I know that’s looked down upon, but it makes painting them easier for me and frankly I have to take time into consideration.

For the Rhino i based vallejo grey and then did some of the flatter surfaces with white scar.

The red is all Flesh Tearers Red.

I’m noticing that the red on the Rhino though is brighter than the Legionnaire. Is there anyway to tone down the red on the Rhino? Even if not for this one, maybe a way to get the darker red on vehicles for future projects?

Also any tips you might have would be helpful.

Greetings from the Infinite Empire meatbags, your brothers needs your help.

Alright you lessers, long story short my greatest rival(friend) is playing Dark Angels…and it’s not been going well.

Over the last 5 games(almost all have been 10th, we are in the process of switching to 11th now) we’ve played, 1 was an extremely Pyrrhic victory for him, 4 were losses, 3 of those losses were utter wipes. He typically runs a combo of a Repex, gladiator and land raider with a squad of DWK, Azrael with Hellblasters or blade guard, and then a judiciar with ICC.

I usually run 2 DDAs and a ctan shard of nightbringer with the rest of my list usually being infantry. Couple bricks of 20 warriors supported by Orikan and a Technomancer. Sometimes Lychguard, usually some immortals, and recently I’ve been getting Canoptek Wraiths.

This is usually what happens. He gets blown off the board. That’s it.

His RepEx moves up, takes a shot at one of my DDAs, fails, and the DDAs proceed to evaporate it. He brings up his bladeguard to kill my warriors, they kill a few, on my turn the warriors fall back, and my DDAs or one of my other units annihilate them. Sometimes he can kill one of my DDA, but by the time he does this, my Ctan Shard or other DDA, have already wiped a large chunk of his army. And his bladeguard/inner circle companions usually charge at my big monster or warriors and proceed to get bogged down and blended.

He’s tried to bring infernus marines to take out my warrior brick, they can. Not guaranteed but possible. But then they get evaporated next turn. And I usually have an overlord with Rez orb with em.

Last game he tried to run Orbital Strike, and it was his first game with the Lion. Lion charged my Ctan Shard of Nightbringer, did like 8 wounds to it and then died to the Nightbringer next turn. His plan was to deep strike in infernus Marines in a drop pod. The profile of the drop pod was simply too big though, he got screened out by my warriors. The rest was the same. His big tanks left cover to shoot at my DDAs, missed or i passed my 4++ invul, and then i removed them from the board on my turn. Game was over turn 1, he was basically tabled turn 2.

The only time he has won, was because he both went first allowing him to kill one of my DDAs, and I made some tragically bad tactical errors. Mostly due to me running on a lack of sleep(you’d think 65 million years would be enough but…tsk)

All of this is just to say that it’s not fun for either of us. It’s like kicking a puppy at this point. And I’m coming to the conclusion that maybe he doesn’t know how to play Dark Angels against Necrons? The Necrons are new, but we’ve been playing since the beginning of 10th, I also have an Eldar army. First army I got.

So DA successors, could you please give some advice on what could be done? If I need to cut my list back I can. I already plan on running 1 DDA next game. Or is there tactically some errors made? I have noticed he seems to really focus on primaries and secondaries are more, if he gets them cool but he doesn’t focus on them. How do you guys play? And is there specific additions to the list? We normally run tournament terrain btw with 40k terrain from our LGS.

TL:DR: Dark Angels player is getting absolutely stomped every single game vs Necrons. What is some advice that other Dark Angels players can offer when fighting Necrons? Specifically Necrons with DDAs and hordes of infantry

Edit: Just to clarify as well. I’m not an expert here. I’m learning my army, and he’s been playing DA longer than I’ve been playing Necrons. I’ve come to the conclusion I’ve overtuned my list and need to drop a DDA, and he needs to be a bit less aggressive.

Please share your color schemes

Title. My Grey Pile of Shame for Drukhari is quite vast. Nearly 2500 points sitting in boxes I’ve collected over the past year or so. I’ve been focusing on my mainline Eldar and Necrons but I’d really like to start putting together my Drukhari soon.

But I am indecisive on a color scheme and struggling to make a commitment. So pls post your own color and schemes and most importantly, your process of doing it.

Are there any colors that just work well with Drukhari? My normal Eldar are blue, my Necrons are green-blue and my Word Bearers are red(shocker). So I was thinking something that isn’t blue, red or green?

Also if you wanna share lore too that would be great. Love reading about custom homebrew factions

P.S. slight lore question. Would a wych cult wear the same colors as the Kabal they are working under while raiding?

Battle of Kaiavess/Imperium v. Galactic Republic who would win

Hello everyone and welcome to this conflict. A small engagement if you will. And a bit of effortposting. This is a scenario I have put together in the spirit of Star Wars Legends vs Warhammer. A classic engagement. So for ground rules.

I do not need absurd levels of detail. But I would prefer higher effort than 'Lol Imperium roflstomps' or 'Lol Republic wipes low diff'. Even if thats what you believe, try to elaborate on it. At minimum a paragraph or two please. And thank you.

Now onto the scenario...

Prelude

A previously undiscovered wormhole was marked when one Dauntless Class Light Cruiser, the 'Sword of Karsandr' and the Sword Class 'Bountiful Blessings' escorting transports with the two regiments of 25k Soldiers each, from the 40th Cadian Combined Arms and the 100th Scintillian Fusiliers were swept up into the wormhole on the edge of a small star system. When the wormhole overtook them, a distress hymnal was sent out.

They found themselves within the Star Wars galaxy, far from home, and made their way to the nearby habitable planet of Kaiavess. A lightly populated Republic World in the mid-rim, Kaiavess had few defenses. 75% human and 25% Non-Human, the Imperials landed and immediately took stock after overrunning the meager defenses. Initially the Aliens were treated with disdain though few things were changed as the Astra Militarum took stock.

Responding to the distress call was the Black Templar Battle Barge the Faiths Light, which carried fifty Black Templars who also were swept into the wormhole and arrived at Kaiavess. The Faiths Light immediately took stock in the situation. A surgical strike took Port Kaivista, and the Faiths Light alongside the Bountiful Blessings departed to retrieve more reinforcements leaving a squad of Black Templars led by Castallen Konstantinos Melodus who placed the city under Marshal Law and had every alien executed. The city of Andiona had managed to raise a small militia and active the cities defensive shield before the Imperials could take it via air strike. AA batteries keep the skies somewhat clear as they wait for salvation.

Whilst this was going on, the 327th Star Corps under the Command of Aayla Secura arrived in system with 3 Venator Class Star Destroyers and 3 Acclimator Class Assault Ships transporting the Star Corps.

Planetary Population: 1.2 Million

Kaerina Population: 300k

Port Kaivista Population: 120k

Andiona Population: 100k

Remaining Population Dwells within farmsteads and small settlements throughout the planet.

Objectives

Imperium

  1. Repel the Republic Counterattack
  2. Capture Andiona
  3. Bring the planet and system entirely under Imperial Control

Galactic Republic

  1. Recapture the Planet
  2. Destroy the Imperial Starship
  3. Capture Imperials and uncover information regarding this new threat.

327th Star Corps

Commanding Officer - Clone Marshal Bly

x36,864 - Clone Troopers with full commando support, AT-TEs, AT-APs, AT-OTs, BARC Speeders and various infantry support platforms.

Additional Note

Venators carry tremendous amounts of air and space assets. This is intended to be offset at least partly by their losses taken by the Dauntless Class, the various Hydras and the AAA and shields of Kaervina and Port Kaivista

Keep in mind despite Imperial numbers they still must garrison the local cities.

And the republic would attempt to land even with the Imperial Cruiser in orbit.

And with that...

...who wins? (It can also be mixed with each side succeeding and failing at different objectives)

Do these read as Word Bearers?

Apologies for the lighting. I just use whatever I have access too.

Anyways, title. I normally play Eldar with a little Necron on the side, but my Best Friend likes playing the ‘good guys’ (not specifically calling the Imperium good, just made a more heroic custom space marine chapter) and I decided to actually dive in and make a CSM army. I chose word bearers because I liked Lorgar and the history they had and if I was gonna play Evil, might as well go all the way.

I suppose the biggest issue came when I pulled out my Chaos Lord and showed it to my friend and he went “Oh. You chose World Eaters?”

And I realized I had decided to paint the trim gold. It’s kinda upset me just a little bit. I figured since my red was so dark and I technically used gold not brass(minor distinction but mentally it was big) it wouldn’t be a problem but now I’m questioning my decision. I chose gold because it felt more regal to me than silver and the bits of Word Bearer art I had seen occasionally had them with gold. I don’t really wanna repaint the trim as the trim is…well…I have about 20 models done and repainting the trim sounds excruciating.

I want them to be unquestionably Word Bearers. And I’m also wondering if I made the right call using the pre-heresy badge. I semi-wanted a warband that tied itself more back to the pre-heresy goals of the legion, building planets and taking humanity into the future.(still evil but with a bit more depth than comic villainy)

Anyways. I apologize for the massive post. TL:DR do these read as word bearers and should I go back through and paint the trim silver? Also pre-heresy legion badge yay or nay?

Thanks and praise the Dark Gods(my Eldar army is eyeing me maliciously from across the room)
