Roof rail, screw rust

How would you treat the rust on this 2014 Subaru outback roof rail? The roof rail hole isn’t plugged up and it filled with water and rusted through a little bit of the roof.
The current plan is to dry the area, spray one of these rust products on the inside and outside, then plug the hole for goods that no more water gets in

The pictures show (1) the underside of the roof behind the interior trim. (2) the roof rail hole that needs to be plugged up. (3) the location of the leak. (4) the materials I have for treating rust (Evapo-Rust gel rust remover, rust fix, rustoleum rust reformer, permatex rust treatment.

I’ve never done auto bodywork and it seems like half the posts here are results of too much or two little Bondo. Could you explain why so many people suck at using Bondo?

It’s mentioned so often you’d think people would be pros at using it but you can find “poor bondo job” in most comment sections

I included some pictures to show how the latch for my hatch door is slightly at an angle. Most of the time it closes normally but every once in a while, it will close but not latch completely and I have to close it carefully. The trim around the latch doesn’t really fit properly and kind of pops up out of the plugs so I don’t know if it’s because of that or if this angled latch would do a difference.

Edit: I’m betting more on the fact that the trim doesn’t fit securely, but I’m just curious if this angled latch is actually angled enough to make a difference

Removed my hatch interior trim panel to install a backup cam and can’t get it to seat properly. The clips aren’t broken, but the panel won’t stay in place, it only holds while I’m actively pressing on it and pops right back out when I let go. Some adjacent trim pieces are also slightly offset. My backup camera wiring doesn’t seem to be in the way at all.

This car has been in a crash before, but nothing crazy. Do you guys have any tips to make my trim fit better in the rear?

Edit: the biggest hatch trim piece seems like it’s not even clipping, but some of the side pieces in the rear just seem to be offset and clip right out of place when I let go of the pressure.

My backup camera RCA cable is 19.6 feet long and reaches just past my steering wheel. I need about a foot more for it to reach my screen.

I checked the following stores for single RCA extensions:
Best Buy, O’Reily, AutoZone, Walmart, Smiths, local electric shop
