I‘ve noticed that, whenever I play MKWii with the advent of a Riivolution mod (Retro Rewind, FKW, VP…), exiting into the vWii HOME menu is impossible without the entire system crashing HARD. Like, I have to pull the power plug of my Wii U every time this happens, it can’t be normal. Is there any fix you would recommend?

(!SOLVED!, 3 was the issue!)

Yesterday, I made a post talking about how my homebrewed Wii U refuses to go past the boot screen with the SD card inserted. This came after I tried installing NUSspli onto it. After inspecting the problem from the view of a novice in modding, this is what I believe happened:

For some reason, the act of placing the NUSspli file onto my SD card corrupted something on my SD card, which makes it refuse to boot into Aroma (or any environment really, but Aroma is on autoboot so…). Deleting the NUSspli file did not contribute to solving this problem, and now my Wii U simply refuses to boot into Aroma as long as the SD is inserted. I know it’s not the system itself due to the fact that it is able to load into the stock environment when the SD card is removed. There’s a few ways I could go about this:

1. Buy a new SD card and move all of the files from the old one onto it (suspected problem: broken SD card)
2. Dive into the files on the SD card and try to find the problem causer (suspected problem: corrupted files)
3. Decrypt any automatically encrypted files (less likely suspected problem: important files were automatically encrypted (thanks Microsoft))

If these solutions fail, I would love to hear possible explanations from you as for why my Wii U refuses to boot.

I saw the HB app receiving praise and wanted to see what it was all about, tried to install it the aroma way on the SD card with the .wuhb file and when I turned my Wii U back on, it didn't make it past the boot up screen. I replaced it with the channel download and replaced it on my SD card. Same result, Wii U doesn't start. Did NUSspli f**k my Wii U or what else could be at play here? (Note: I was using the Wii U literally right before installing NUSspli and it worked just fine)

I started playing this game on day one in September 2019. I was already a huge Mario Kart Fan back then, so the release of this game was something beyond special to me. I spent countless hours into it, grinding, spending, working my way through to get the most out of this game. I have been on a few hiatuses due to content fatigue. The returning tours often got boring for me and so I'd leave the game for a few months at a time. But now, seeing it being taken away from us, I kinda regret not always staying with it.

I never had any concrete goals, I just played the game for fun. But looking at what it gave me, I can't help but feel nostalgic. The profiles of my old friends from 2019 who haven't touched the game in 6 years, the forgotten "gifts" tab in the bottom left of the menu, the gold pass screen staring me in the face every time I open the shop, the pipes... all of it invokes a sense of longing and of dread.

I also still remember when YouTubers I watched played the game. I once got the chance to join one of Mankalor's online rooms, and I had so much fun trying to be 1st in the races. I also vividly remember watching TWD98s video of him playing the game for the first time. The most meaningful memory of this game, though, was playing it alongside my family members. My sister, my brother, my mother, all of them were playing it. While I'm pretty much the only person I know in my surrounding area that plays this game, it makes me sad to look back at how everything used to be, how everyone had time to play it during the pandemic, and now no one I know remembers it.

Even if Mario Kart Tour is only a spinoff that was destined to die at some point, it still had a more profound impact on the franchise than any other spinoff. Almost all of its tracks (we will miss Piranha Plant Pipeline) got ported over into MK8DX, a mainline Mario Kart game. No other spinoff had achieved this. For this, and for everything mentioned above, Mario Kart Tour will always have a special place in my heart.

While I'm guessing that a fan revival is going to be nearly impossible, it would still be amazing to see an unofficial offline version be made, as the magic of playing these tracks can't be replicated on console/handheld. I stayed up nights for this game, and I will continue until its demise.
