A new (former BRZ) EN owner! Got some questions! + first impressions.

So yeah it’s been quite a series over this one

Yesterday I finally picked up my car!

Right now doing break in so impressions are limited but even during normal mode and break in driving it feels sharp and sporty. I’m sure I’m going to have a blast with this one.

One thing that is super annoying: the clutch! It’s not my first manual car and on day one I already stalled it three times!!

How do you start a drive with this thing smoothly? It’s either not enough gas and stall or too much gas and feeling like I’m riding the clutch too much!

Octane learning: is it working better with 93 or can I stick to regular 91 or maybe I shouldn’t bother with it anyway.

Break in - I know I should stick to 4000 RMPS max but is it recommended to get to 4000 or I should just drive until 3000 RPMS at most? And did you all change oil after 600 miles?

Happy to be part of this community. Thank you!

Moving on with my purchase: Performance Blue or Cyber Gray?

Hi guys, continuation of this topic:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ElantraN/s/XHfqLHrWhU

After your suggestions and seeing the car with my own eyes, I reserved a CG EN.

Now I got a call from the dealer: apparently, a guy who ordered a PB Elantra would like to switch with me if I’m up for it.

Now, I think CG looks great and suits the car very well, while PB is a little played out by now. On the other hand, it is an exclusive color (no Elantra Hybrid got it) and I guess a more special one.

What do you guys think?

Test drive impressions as a former BRZ owner - is the car too easy to drive?

Hi guys a continuation of this thread:

https://www.reddit.com/r/ElantraN/s/rkI4MDehoF

I did the test drive today, the cars inputs other than the clutch (didn’t think it could get worse than the BRZ but it did) are great - steering (felt better than second gen BRZ)/ manual gearbox (why some people dislike it? I’d give the BRZ a slight edge there but it felt great overall)/engine/ exhaust (non existent on the BRZ). Top class.

The chassis felt good and pretty alive. Seats are awesome, interior is not bad at all for this price. Grip levels are phenomenal.

Thing is - as someone with a 6 years experience on the BRZ (both gens) I’m afraid this car is going to feel like a one trick pony eventually.

Like point and shoot or a cheat mode easy to drive fast kind of car. Now maybe it’s not related to this car specifically, more so to the FWD dynamics? But I think it’s important that the car will challenge you in a way to get better and to feel like you are growing as a driver and it felt like the limits are hard to reach and it’s difficult to unsettle it a little or get it out of its comfort zone of lots of grip.

How do you look at it? Is it just a car to enjoy corner carving and shut up or there is more to it to learn and experience?

I have a slot saved at the dealership for a Cyber Grey. Need to give them the final approval to go on with the purchase and I would love to receive some genuine feedback. Thanks in advanced.

Going on a test drive - canyons driving. What settings should I use?

Hi guys. Former second gen BRZ owner here, going to test drive this car in two days, the local Hyundai dealership were kind enough to organize a test drive in the canyons (alongside a dealership representative obviously)

As someone who is about to experience such car and a sporty FWD car in general for the first time, what are your tips, what should I expect from this platform after driving RWD cars for 6 years, settings - put it in N mode and that’s it or should I adjust steering or the individual settings?

Whatever on your mind guys. Thanks

Is this car worth PPF’ing?

How sensitive is the paint to damage? If it’s durable enough I might skip it but that front makes me nervous- like it gets damaged fast without one.

Which would you choose between the two?

These are the only available colors left at the dealership. No performance blue or any other option. What would you choose between those two?

From 2023 BRZ to a 26 Elantra N - worth it?

Unfortunately my 23 BRZ is totaled, I’ve been driving this platform for the last 6 years (gen 1 and 2) and I might want to try something new around this budget.

Practicality wise the BRZ was enough, the Miata isn’t (have a wife and a dog with no kids currently but it might change and even though the BRZ was our second car, the Miata can’t even be that unfortunately) so practically wise BRZ wasn’t an issue as a second car that once in a while used to haul stuff like groceries/dog/kids even though obviously it would be much easier with a full family sedan but it’s not a must since it doesn’t happen often.

I never had a very fast FWD sporty car, the BRZ is my first proper “sporty” car.

Anyway would you recommend such move? I want a communicative fun car with a manual. I love the sound those cars put out, I don’t know how fun they are next to my BRZ, and how enjoyable is the handling. FWD isn’t a big downgrade? Do you need to drive really fast in order for the car to be enjoyable or you can take a corner pretty slowly and still enjoy it?

Yeah obviously an Elantra N sub so it’s a little biased but I’m sure there are honest opinions around here. Thanks in advance!

Do you have any explanation for this? First gen of the BRZ/GT86 sold well. Second gen - especially BRZ but also the 86 is lagging far behind.

Meanwhile the ND Miata which is a far less practical and daily-able vehicle (though it is an incredible car no doubt) is doing pretty good even this late into its generation. And again, first gen of the twins also sold very well.

It started on a very high note with lots of hype and it fell off a cliff. What do you think is the reason? Could it be that the so called reliability issues got so out of hand that it killed the second gen platform?

At least it seems like some YouTubers who owned a second gen sold them because of it. I dunno trying to figure it out.
