What exactly does wealth/relationship manager do in bank like DBS OCBC UOB?

I was invited by one of the banks yesterday to attend a briefing session about this position. Out of curiosity, I did a quick search on LinkedIn and noticed that most people in this role are women, many of whom are current or former insurance agents, and they typically stay in the role for only about 1 to 2 years before moving on.

I have a few questions:

1.Is this like an insurance agent style role within the bank selling the bank's own products rather than ILP?

2.Why are most WM/RM female? (Just curious, not implying anything.)

3.Why is the turnover rate so high, with most people not staying long?

4.If I'm unable to stay in this type of role for more than a year, would that reflect poorly on my future prospects in banking?

How long does it take for HR at civil/public service to reply?

I've applied to several positions at the ministry and the stats board over the past two weeks and haven't heard back yet. Is this normal, or does the process usually take this long specifically for the interview stage? If it's already taking this long before interviews, I imagine the post interview background checks would add even more time.

In the meantime, I'm still holding onto a private sector offer. Should I accept it now, or keep waiting on the public sector applications?

How should I reply to recruiter or HR asking for last drawn salary?

I've been mass applying for jobs since last month and have received a few callbacks. Almost all of them have asked for my last drawn salary, then followed up by asking if I have an expected number in mind and whether it's negotiable.

Should I even disclose my current salary, given that I feel it might lead to lowball offers? What are some good strategies for handling salary discussions for a new role?

Has anyone used recruit express to find job?

I received multiple job offers from recruitexpress since applying on mycareersfuture. Those that have dealt with securing jobs from the recruitment agency, how was ur experience like?

Should I take up their offer now or wait for direct hire from the company? I applied on govcareer portal also but they mention I need to wait 4 weeks to get to know the result.

Why are so many people in Singapore still getting scammed into buying ILP?

There's been a noticeable increase in insurance agents approaching people at MRT stations and malls, often targeting the elderly and young NSFs to sell them ILPs.

It raises the question of financial literacy why are so many willing to invest based on a stranger's pitch, hoping for strong returns? These products are known to often underperform the broader market over time, and in some cases, investors may not even recover their initial capital.

Edit: Seems like there are a few FA lurking in the comment section offering zero rebuttal as to why ILP is better than broad index fund other than "Oh my client is lazy and has no discipline to put in money into brokerage account monthly so he pays me commission to do it for them"

Streaming giant Netflix fall more than 10% after revenue fell short of estimates

Netflix forecast third-quarter revenue of $12.86 billion and diluted EPS of 82 cents

EPS: $0.80 vs. $0.79 Expected

Revenue: $12.56B vs. $12.58B Expected

Earnings weren't great, numbers were pretty underwhelming ngl. IMO they really need to push harder into live events especially sports like NFL boxing mma and expand their offerings.

Also not a fan of them being so tight lipped on engagement metrics, only dropping that info once a year (from not showing subscriber count to hiding this metric is a shady way to avoid criticism)

One key point is Ad revenue is one of Netflix's real bright spots. 2025 came in at over $1.5B, up more than 2.5x year over year, and Netflix is guiding for roughly $3 billion in ads revenue in 2026 basically doubling again.

Feels like the moat is starting to erode, especially with so much competition out there. We've basically already gone through the whole cable to streaming transition at this point, so I'm not sure growth reaccelerates from here.

Job market for CS graduate is getting bad to worse...

I'm sure everyone's seen the news about GovTech laying off almost 9% of their workforce. It's rare for the government to make cuts this large the last comparable restructuring was IRAS back in 2005. I also noticed NUS Computer Science alone takes in about 900 students a year, and that's not counting graduates from other universities, which could add up to several thousand entrants annually.

With that many graduates and applicants each year, where are all the jobs supposed to come from? You're not just competing against your own cohort you're also up against students from previous years who still haven't found work.

And if you're not graduating with First Class Honours or on a scholarship, I'd imagine it's even tougher in a market this competitive.
