I’m wondering if TriBand is really needed in a residential home.

I have a Eero pro 6E (triband). I love it. But I need to add two more to extend my range -larger house. So now I’m thinking of buying the new Eero 7 (dual band) and getting the three pack. Now I know the Pro 6E uses the 6mhz band for to communicate with the other Eero Pro 6Es -if I choose to stay with what I have. But in a residential home, do I really need the triband? I have (maybe) 40 WiFi assets. Maybe the Pro triband series is only needed in a commercial environment?

The Social Security trust fund will run dry in 2032 – what that means for retirees and workers who hope to retire

So if the find runs out, does this mean people can sue the government because they paid into the fund? Like it’s fraud or something?

EV charging hacks

Tell me when, where, and how you charge to save $$. All comments are welcome and will be upvoted as long as they’re constructive.

L1 and L2 charger

This is the charger that my 26 I5 came with. I know that the #1 plug is for the wall outlet. Is the #2 plug a level 2 charging plug? What I’m asking is, do I just have an electrician install new breaker, an electrical wire, and an outlet that fits the #2 plug into the garage and I will have a level 2 charger?

Long distance road trip

So this is the second day owning my EV. I’m in love. But I’m curious… what’s the longest roadtrip you’ve been on with your EV and how was the trip? Hoping to hear some good stories.

Charging dead battery

Has anyone tried to charge a stranded EV using a V2L and a L1 charger? Like just to give a little juice for 5 miles to help someone when their drive battery is empty?

Curious how many..

How many REPEAT ICCU failures have there been? -what percentage of completed ICCU repairs have suffered a secondary failure? Also wondering if failures have declined from 22 -26.

Reliability

I have been wanting EV for quite a while and have been following the market. I really like the ionic5 as well as the model Y. The problem with the ionic5 is the ICCU system -even though Hyundai says the failures are at one percent. They have an exceptional warranty, but the flipside of that is they don’t seem to have control of the problem. For me this builds distrust. The model Y is more expensive. I will not be buying the base Y because it just seems so incredibly cheap. I’m now considering a used model Y because I don’t feel like paying over $40,000 for a vehicle. but I don’t know how reliable this vehicle is. I don’t know anyone who has one and I’ve heard that when things break on the Tesla vehicles it can get very expensive. So my first question here is 1) how many of you actually have a model Y and wouldn’t mind commenting on the reliability and quality of the vehicle.2) do you feel like the ionic5 issues occur in more than 1% of their views?

Charging modes and habits

I’m wondering what these best/cheapest charging method is. My friend only charges via level 1 over night in his garage and takes advantage of time-of-use discount via the electric company. A different guy at work says he charges using the level 2 in his garage. I havnt received my ioniq5 yet (being delivered next week) but I was just planning to charge every other week at a public outlet. The dealer tells me to charge at Procore stations because they’re cheaper. Now I’m looking at all the different ways to charge and pay (memberships, pay-as-you-go, credit card, per kWh, per minute, flat rate). It’s a lot to think about. And I upvote everyone cause I’m nice.

Trading platforms

I have two IRA accounts, both through Chase/JPM. My Roth IRA is basic with 40% VOO, 30% SCHG, 15% SCHD, and 15% AVUV. My traditional IRA is the one I trade with. In 2025 I earned 37% by trading. This was a LOT of work while still working full time and everything else. Now I’m thinking about using Zack’s (received an ad) for 30days @ $1, but I don’t quite understand it (please don’t be mean, I have autism and get confused sometimes). Do they just tell me when and what they trade or do they take my money and trade it for me? Also, are there any other options preferable to Zack’s? Ty

Dealer is telling me I need the extra warranty.

I ordered a Hyundai ionic 5 and salesperson is telling me that the brakes and tires will wear out quicker on an EV because the car is heavy.
He told me the cost of brake replacement is $5k. Ive heard rumors that the brakes in EVs generally last longer because most drivers don’t use them so much. Is the dealer just trying to trick me?

-UPDATE: I cancelled the entire deal and went to another dealership an hour away who has the same vehicle with a better deal and more incentives! Including a free level 2 home charger! THANK YOU TO EVERYONE HERE for your help.

Hyundai dealership advertised an ioniq5, but manager won’t sell it to me, says it’s a typo

I found a 2024 EV at a Hyundai dealer listed for $15k on their website. Also on carguru. I called the dealer and confirmed. Then I drove to the dealer and spoke with a salesperson who confirmed the price and then pulled the car around to the front of the building so I could test drive it. As I'm getting into the car the manager ran outside and said he couldn't sell the car to me for $15k. He said it was a typo, a mistake. I am so pissed. Now he says I can buy it for $30k. Could the manager be lying
And he just didn’t want to sell it to me? I don’t understand how someone can make a “typo” of this magnitude? Surely the manger will make sure it’s taken down immediately, right? But I just checked the site and it’s still there. So maybe he just didn’t like me. Idk.

I just picked up a 24 ioniq 5 SEL AWD with only 9,000 miles on it for $29k. I received $15k for my trade that was paid off so I only financed $16k for 48 months! The car was a loaner used by the Hyundai dealer. It still has bumper-to-bumper warranty and everything that comes with it. Was also certified. PLEASE tell me this was a good deal. This is my first ev and I’m in love.
