Prep for Uni
I'll probably be joining FAST Lahore starting this fall semester for BS CS. Question to seniors, are the courses for the semesters the same as listed on their website or do they get changed sometimes? Also, if they are the same, what books did you need for each course in the first semester, if any? I heard that you get the books from the bookshop on the uni grounds but I'm not too fond of getting physical copies of the textbooks. So if you could tell me the names of the books, I'll try to find the digital copies for now. Thank you.
How Do I Ace Uni?
So, I'm about to start university in a few months. To be specific, I'll hopefully be doing BS CS. Now, the bright side of this is that I love CS. I've been learning to code and tinkering with game development and smaller projects since I was three. So I essentially have small (maybe insignificant but still something) projects from five years ago and so. I've also learnt a lot of miscellaneous stuff on the side, like a good bit of networking.
Anyways, my later high school life didn't go so well but I want to have a great academic university life. I already have a plan in motion—a senior one year above me already attends the university and I'll ask her for the first semester's resources, topics, course outlines, assignments, etc and try to cover them within these few months. What I need help in is studying techniques. I really like creating rough schedules before sitting down to study but I have a hard time sticking to them. I don't like pomodoro because once I get into the zone, I can't turn my brain off until I'm done with the task but once I'm out of the zone, it's hard for me to shift back to it. I don't like using flashcards either, to be fair. I feel like they're sometimes too tedious for what they help achieve. And I do like having notes written out in my own wording.
So here's my questions for any university students:
How do you schedule your studying around university hours and personal time?
Do you prefer studying on campus or back at home/hostel?
What study techniques have you found most efficient for theoretical subjects?
What study techniques have you found most efficient for theoretical subjects?
How do you train yourself to maintain focus even through bad days?
How did you deal with bad teachers or disruptive classmates?
How did you make studying more fun or imaginative (I don't know if that's applicable) and did it help with maintaining the routine?
If you were in my position, how would you best utilize these few months to make sure I always stay ahead during my time at university?
How often did you get burnt out at uni and how did you recover?
I don't have another question to ask but leaving it at an odd number was a little annoying.
Thank you for reading my long rant. Feel free to share any of your uni experiences that may or may not answer my questions.
Applying Using SAT (Will I Get In?)
So I'm applying using the SAT. Didn't score as well as I wanted but my total aggregate comes out to be 89% with 50% O-Level equivalence and 50% SAT. I'm scared I won't get in, since FAST is my first preference.
Help Needed (Creating Second Character)
So I've been watching D&D for a while but only recently started playing it. The first ever character I made is a simple sorcerer with a heavier focus on the narrative grounding than the actual mechanics since that's the part of D&D that actually drew me in as a writer. After playing for about a month or so, I have a better understanding of how the characters themselves work within the campaign. And I don't think I created a character much suited to the campaign I'm currently part of. The campaign is very combat-heavy and my character, more often than not, fails to deliver. Which is perfectly fine, for now. It just allows me to keep in mind the prospect of my character dying soon. This is where the second character comes in, as a backup when and if my original characters dies.
I'd like some advice or recommendations in creating a still-beginner-friendly but slightly more combat-efficient character. I do still want to play a magic-type class, but something different from sorcerer. Our group already has a fighter, a ranger, a rogue and a cleric so I don't want the character to be any of those. And my character is going to be an elf (I don't know if I'm going to go into subclasses here). I haven't thought her out much but as far as anything else goes, I want her to have an affinity with the elements (especially water) if that's applicable. Also, I need her to be level 5.
I'm still very much a beginner so if I'm missing anything or not starting the character building from the right points, please do let me know.
TLDR; Need some magic-type class recommendations and character building advice for my backup elf.
There's No End In Sight

Istg, there's no end to the disaster of this May-June session. As if the schedule couldn't suck as much as it already does, there's the entire k e a l situation. From what I know, around ten papers have been k e a l e d from all of igcse and a-levels combined. And Cambridge has addressed only one until now. Out of the four papers I've given, three were leaked for sure.
When will this end? I've stopped caring about my grades and am just trying to go through each paper without panicking too much. Here's to desperately wishing these times come to an end, even though the end seems too far away for much hope right now.
Scambridge Does It Again
Congratulations, folks. It's a record how fast and frequently the leaks are happening this year. I sat 9618/12 today and felt absolutely ecstatic at how wonderful the paper was. No communication bs, no hardware details except embedded systems. I leave the exam hall happily. And then my friend shows me how she had the ENTIRE PAPER'S PDF a couple hours ago. No, I don't want this to increase the threshold and no, I don't want to waste my June on this again. But I know it's the students who'll have to compromise anyways. As we always do. Three years in a row, mate, and somehow it's getting worse. A strainer has less holes.
Our teacher sucked, I was constantly sick for the past year and I got sick again last month preventing me from studying. A-level has taken much of my sanity of mind. I haven't been able to touch P4 with a stick, let alone revise and study it properly. I need to get at least 50+ marks in P4 to pass. Can someone please recommend some resources, study methods, anything that will help me understand most of the content and score a 50 in P4 in two days? Any help will be much appreciated.
