Looks like a ton of the scumbags that were dunking on "Dan the Journalist" could be in a pickle.

A) He's being held without bond so the situation might be severe

*Update/Edit: In Florida this typically happens until the accused goes before a judge- which is supposed to happen within 24 hrs of the arrest

B) This dude's Russini-esque professional "friend" circle is a who's who of assholes from Whitlock to Travis to Outkick as a whole to anyone who wants to keep politics out of sports....unless it's their own MAGA politics.

C) It'll be interesting to see how Max Kellerman addresses this. I largely exempt him from the previous category but all that means is he has way more credibility to potentially light on fire if this ends up being bad and he ignores it.

The problem with Dan and the show by association being "compromised"

Is that the absolute worst human beings in the sports/political ecosphere (that I wish we wouldn't even give oxygen to) get to rarely not be entirely wrong when they call out Dan (and the show) for anything remotely close to journalism and journalism critiques.

You simply can't credibly attack anything like Strahan (an ultimate media lightweight) for doing a shallow interview in relation to journalistic standards when you've openly burned whatever remained of your own bona fides on this front. Freely saying you basically won't even cover Russini and Joy Taylor prior because they're "friends" and you're not in the business of "adding to their pain" comes with a cost whether you like it or not.

You're a conflicted compromised podcaster now, Dan....and that's profitable and easy but that's it. It was one thing Stu was 1000% right about. And we as show fans can't really credibly defend you or the show on this front when the biggest scumbags in your world make this point about your brazen hypocrisies- despite having a million of their own.

But hey...whatevs!...we're ALL Pulitizer winners, right?!

What Dan was paying attention to when everyone essentially knew what the Heat's offer would be for like the last 6 months.

WeakEnd Observations

Ariel is a bigger prisoner of the (white trash/national disgrace) moment and certainly a cheaper date than Dan could ever be. I'm almost* glad Sampson ruined baseball in Montreal right now. Grow up or fuck off, dude.

Amin: What did those kids die in service of?

This exchange was precisely why Dan isn't capable of directing the ship on "political" topics. He can only function at the very superficial surface level so this exact face and subsequent stammering is what results when there's ANY pushback and/or deeper dive.

And look, I largely believe Dan's heart is in the right place or at least he approaches a lot of these subjects from the correct point of origin. He simply does not have the knowledge and intellectual curiosity to properly lead the discussion. Let Mike or Amin or even Jeremy do it. Hell, Shek initiating these topics and then letting others also lead is even more productive.

The "American" sport equivalent of the Inter Miami crybaby fans

Grow up and stop being attention whores like this clown. At least the godforsaken scumbag Jets have never had a player in the same stratosphere as Messi.

....he shouldn't lean too hard into the battles with athletes or the "You wanna play THIS game?!" type of threats.

And I preface this by saying that I'm sure Austin Rivers is a giant douche. I mean the Dook part alone, amirite? But these little wars and threats are sooooo Steven A.-esque and lame and at the end of the day (right or wrong) basically nobody is going to give props to the non-former athlete media member.

Just sayin' it's a weak sauce look imo and Amin as a Pulitzer Prize recipient is smart enough to wage these wars (if he must) in a non overt manner.

I think we (along with JVL & Sarah) are selling this mindset short when assuming it has ZERO political value.

Shortly after he began to sell his entire soul, I had the "pleasure" of having a brief exchange with Marco Rubio. In this moment, he freely espoused that the key to current elections is motivating your base and suppressing/demoralizing the opposition vote and absolutely not about prioritizing "winning new voters".

Now back to JVL, let's assume things continue to go south for Trump. Now let's assume there's a significant amount of Trump voters that are disenchanted or even regretful about their Trump support....but also will simply never vote for whatever Dem wins the '28 nomination. Does it not behoove there to be at least some JVL shaming and ridiculing to be happening? Does that not at minimum nudge a lot of these individuals along to becoming cynical about politics in general and lead them to be non-participatory in voting and as citizens- something we'd ALL benefit from.

Starts at the 1:15:45 mark if the link doesn't take you directly there. He does a little assessment of his growth/mindset changes professionally earlier in this pod but this part was also fairly interesting if you're a Mike fan. I personally appreciate how he wears this stuff on his sleeve and doesn't segregate it from his iob or at least his on-air performance.
