Bear brand fruit snacks using Gen AI for the included trading cards.

I had been buying bear products in bulk at our local Costco for my family and occasionally for food banks.

I'd also been collecting their first set of included super hero trading cards. When I went to their website to see if they had a card list, I noticed that their upcoming sports bear cards were clearly created with generative AI, as well as much of the promo art on the site. Notice the text on the billboard in pic 3, a dead giveaway.

I immediately questioned the more cartoony super heroes I had been collecting, and found out there is no artist associated with them... So now I'm very suspicious that even the first set was AI as well.

I'll never buy another bear product again. They had an opportunity to showcase some real art, and build a real brand identity around it, and instead I'm furious at ever haven given them any money to begin with.

I love Costco, and wish they'd stop supporting Bear at this point.

Bordertown pizza (Blaine Wa) using gen AI for their logo now.

I've been going to bordertown since they were pizza factory. On my last visit I noticed their new logos, and huge banner featuring this obviously AI generated logo.

Not only does it look like garbage, but it was made using tools that could only exist by stealing art en masse to feed into the machine. It's theft with extra steps.

Us blaine locals should all be concerned with AI slop being featured prominently around town. It cheapens the downtown and makes us look bad. A local artists was passed over for this.

I myself won't be going back to bordertown until this is corrected.

Thoughts?

Ballyhoo media billboard at Kingston ferry terminal.

I've been absolutely infuriated by the new "high impact" screen billboard at the Kingston ferry dock. It's huge, bright at night, and marring the view at the dock. I grew up in Kingston, and it absolutely sickens me to have these ads slapped on to our most iconic landmark.

It's the first of its kind in town and makes me sick to my stomach. I wouldn't be surprised if it impacts the property value of every home with a view of the docks.

I can't believe WSDOT sold out our towns pride for MORE ADS SHOVED DOWN OUR THROATS.

I encourage everyone who feels the same to let Ballyhoo media out of Miami know how you feel about them. On an entirely different coast, and yet they cheapen my hometown!

4th of july week events in the area? All ideas welcome.

Between Bellingham, Ferndale, lynden, blaine, birch bay, etc... What's worth checking out this week? Car shows? Parades? Fireworks?

Helps to know how the towns stagger events to not be on top of each other but it's a lot to research. Any links appreciate!

I know Blaine does a big fair on the 4th at least.
