AirPods Max (USB-C 2024) getting intermittent audio hiccups mostly in Apple Music?

Picked up a pair of USB-C AirPods Max (2024 version) since they came down in price with the new ones out and have been troubleshooting an odd issue.

They’re on current firmware, did a factory reset after I first noticed the issues, and wired listening works fine.

The issue is intermittent Bluetooth audio hiccups/stutters. Nothing major like disconnects, just brief glitches that immediately recover.

What’s interesting is that almost all of the glitches seem to occur while using Apple Music. I’ve logged multiple hours of YouTube, work calls, and other audio with little to no issues, but Apple Music is where nearly all of the hiccups have occurred so far.

Using an iPhone 16 Pro. My AirPods Pro 3 don’t have any of these issues and it’s use in the same environments.

Has anyone experienced something similar with AirPods Max, Apple Music, or recent firmware versions?

It’s not an emergency, but if this keeps happening I’ll have to go to the Apple Store next weekend to see if they can find figure it out.

Just noticed Sonos hired Frank Barbieri as COO. Thoughts?

https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/sonos-sono-appoints-frank-barbieri-080312003.html

I know this happened almost a month ago, but I’m just seeing it now.

From what I’m seeing, Barbieri’s background is Walmart, e-commerce, customer experience, retail operations, partnerships, and scaling consumer businesses.

I like what Tom Conrad’s done so far as CEO, and the fact that he’s known and worked with Barbieri for nearly 20 years makes me think this wasn’t a random hire.

Interesting (and good IMO) that they chose an operations executive with his background, especially given the rebuilding trust emphasis Sonos has had lately.

Anyone who knows more about the hire or the situation in general, feel free to chime in with your thoughts.

Another Sonos blowout sale, another battle with my addiction…

over 30 devices between two houses and yet I still see the deals on the sales (especially when the certified refurbs get discounted) and there I am sitting at my desk thinking…

“Well, the play 3 in the laundry room lags a bit when grouping or switching songs… and the volume slider sometimes disappears… a 100 would fix that. Hell, might as well do the same with the garage pair of play 3s…”

And now with refurb arc ultras on sale now for, i believe, the first time…

“Well if I sell one of my 2 arcs and swap the living room with an ultra it’ll probably sound a little better, have faster connectivity, and be more future proof…”

And don’t even get me started on the inevitable mental gymnastics I’ll be doing when the five successor comes out for why I need to upgrade them and/or repurpose my current five 🤦‍♂️

I guess it could be worse. I could be shaking because it’s lunchtime and I still haven’t injected a shot of something into me… but shaking because I haven’t bought a Sonos product on sale yet can’t be that much better… 😂🥲😭

Roam 3 improvement ideas

I know that the beam and the five get the most hype right now for an upgrade (Ace to an extent too because of their potential), but I think the roam needs a refresh as bad an anything. It’s the only product that has consistently documented, recurring major issues.

I actually think it could be a great product if they do it right. Start with a replaceable battery…that alone would be huge for longevity. Then clean up the charging quirks (unreliable wireless base, false indicators, etc), fix the connectivity bugs, excessive battery drain, and the other issues.

That alone would be great…then if you give it better battery life, more reliable wired + wireless charging with better power management, improved Bluetooth stability and faster handoff between Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, maybe better software power saving modes… it would be a great complimentary speaker before even getting to sound upgrades.

Which is the specific ninja creami machine coach Greg recommends?

I see a bunch of different ones so I want to get the right one. I have the old ninja I used for his old protein ice cream recipe but I’m ready to move on to bigger and better things!

This is what I was looking at and thought was it, but wanted to make sure: https://a.co/d/08zBqrkQ

How many exclusive videos for tier 3 members does Peter Pee have, and what are they like?

I know there are just a few regular “members only” videos for Peter Pee for tier 1 & 2 members, but on tier 3 it says there are exclusive members only videos, which from what I’ve read, aren’t even visible unless you are a member.

Considering the significant price jump it has, I’m curious how many there are and what they’re like/ if they’re especially good. Debating if it’s worth joining level 3 or not.

Arc vs Arc ultra specifically for music?

How much better is the Arc Ultra for music compared to the regular Arc?
I have two Arcs (living room and basement) and like to play music throughout the house from various sources. I usually use YouTube for music videos on my Apple TV since I like the higher video + audio quality for videos. Lmk your thoughts or if it’s more of an upgrade for vocal clarity and bass like I typically hear

Finally found someone to play Splinter Cell Blacklist co-op with… and Ubisoft servers immediately killed it

Ever since Ubisoft temporarily shut the Blacklist servers down a few years ago (then brought them back), it’s felt almost impossible to find random people in the co-op mission lobbies.

Back in the day on Xbox, I could usually find someone within a few minutes for Briggs, Charlie, or Grim missions. Now I can sit there for 20+ minutes and get nobody.

Weirdly enough though, tonight I actually matched with TWO random people. We got a few Charlie missions going and it honestly felt like old times again… until we suddenly got hit with:

“The Splinter Cell Blacklist service is not available at this time.”

Then it booted us out.

I went back in, matched with another player almost immediately, played 3 missions successfully, and then BOOM, same error again.

Is anybody else still experiencing this on Xbox Series X/S backward compatibility? Are the servers just unstable now?

Honestly it reminded me how good Blacklist co-op still is. Kind of depressing that no modern game has really replaced it.

To Sonos employees on Reddit: Is replying here part of your job, or just casual lurking?

I’ve noticed Sonos employees popping up in threads pretty consistently, and I’m genuinely curious how it works internally.
Is participating here officially part of certain roles, or is it mostly just employees who enjoy the product and community chiming in when they have time?
I’ve also noticed some threads get quick responses while other big discussions stay untouched, so I’m curious how structured (or unstructured) it actually is.

Either way I think it’s pretty cool having direct interactions with the company!

I think it’s worth making a post to inform people that are under the impression (slightly misled IMO) that the 100 SL is identical to the regular 100 except for mics.

The regular 100 is running a faster 1.9 GHz quad-core chip, while the SL drops that to 1.4 GHz. It also doubles the memory and storage (Whether that affects future features or update paths is unclear, and I wouldn’t expect a major divergence, but it’s worth noting.

2GB/8GB vs 1GB/4GB). Same speaker acoustically, but the full 100 has a lot more breathing room on the processing side.

Not to say the 100 SL isn’t a good product or that it’ll have a noticeably shorter lifespan. But a decade from now if you notice your 100 is a bit snappier than your 100 SL it could be due to the CPU/memory dispairty. Whether that would affect future upgrade paths I don’t know and I don’t expect them to have much if any different upgrade paths, but it’s worth noting.

If the price gap were bigger, the SL would make more sense. But when a refurb 100 is cheaper, and lots of times quite a bit, it’s hard to justify taking the cut down internals unless you specifically don’t want mics to even exist at all because of big brother listening (can’t totally knock that tbf).

I just picked up a 2026 RAV4 XLE Premium and the stupid torque based steering nag is already driving me nuts. I actually got rid of my old Jeep for the same reason, it feels even wis worse because TSS 4.0 genuinely is very good at lane centering most the time so I get yelled at by the system while being perfectly centered and paying paying attention.

I’m really wanting to jump into the Comma world and have been reading up on it a bit, but I’ve heard the 2026 RAV4s are locked down with that new encryption (SecOC/ Keys). Any word or expectations how soon this would get jailbroken?

Thanks!
