List of peripherals/accessories, must haves, etc? Looking for recommendations.

Hello there. (pics attached)

Ive been using MAME for a very long time, but never really seriously tried to run anything that didnt work out of the box or only needed minor configuration. I started before there were very many guides or much information, and now in the age of everything being accessible, well, theres tons of stuff out there about it.

Its great.

So im trying to setup MAME/Arcade and was looking at some peripherals.

Sticks/buttons
I was thinking about building my own, since i found one with decent reviews at a reasonable price. I can even make 2.

Flight stick/HOTAS
I havent had a stick in forever, and dont really care except i realize if i want to play games like podracer or star wars trilogy/blazing angels etc.. i might need at least one.
Not sure if i need 2, or if i need an actual HOTAS for some games i might not realize etc...

Trackball
Not too expensive, probably easy enough to configure (though i have no idea). Would be fun for golden tee, tempest, marble, and probably other games i cant remember or dont know about.

Light gun
I have wiimotes and sensor bars, ive never even considered setting them up in MAME.
Read on for my issue with the pointer aspect:

Thought this bluetooth/sensor bar combo might somehow do the trick since it says its designed for "real wiimotes". Though using technology for work etc... I know that sounds/feels like a marketing gimmick. How can it be any better unless it has special firmware or something?
Otherwise it sounds like a glorified bluetooth sensor bar combo. It has great reviews, but forums say its trash. *shrug*
I have experience with wimmotes in dolphin and some other random stuff i used to mess with.
I generally dont use the "real wiimote pointer" feature though, or rarely (since most/many games dont utilize the pointing as much as the motion).
Recently i tried again and i feel like many, if not all games ive tried have some weird stutter when i use the pointer. I have a USB plug and play sensor bar that reads it, but after a certain distance it gets even worse (im 6 feetish from the bar, 8 at most.
I seem to remember back in the day on wii you could get decently far back with a solid connection and few issues)

I dont plan on using these items extremely heavily, but they will get pulled out from time to time for friends or gatherings. This will all be on a beefy PC and not a standalone or cabinet. Even if it feels just slightly cheap or off, thats fine. Unless the difference is very little, but im not looking to spend hundreds and hundreds if i can help it.
What i posted isnt even a benchmark, if it all sucks i dont care, if its all good cool. I want any and all opinions on the matter because i know there are elitists out there, but there are also people like me. Im happy to hear from both.
However, if itd be stupid to get anything less, i can probably stomach paying a bit more.

TLDR:
I would like the "essentials" for playing casual-ish mame/arcade/neo geo etc. I dont need hardcore fighting sticks or flight sticks, but i want something that wont break.
Im looking for the casual "not a guy building a cabinet or seriously sinking massive arcade-like hours into these devices" experience at a (hopefully) reasonable price.

Thanks!

What do? (pink princess philo adoption)

https://preview.redd.it/4r1qbe2gijgh1.png?width=1176&format=png&auto=webp&s=23934ef7b232fa9747939f9623d47441ea28d846

Picked up some new plants from a very generous and kind local. A bit of a story, but ill spare my usual ramblings.
Short of it is she gave me this Pink Princess Philo as an extra. I told her that i was hesitant since i have yet to dive into philodendrons yet, but she insisted if she could take care of them, anyone could.

She didnt say if this was outside or got burned and had to be cut, or if its just a prop. I have no idea and any help to get it kicking would be great. It might just be fine, the main leaf looks like it had some issues, but the lower ones look good.
soil under the top layer looks fine, but i havent REALLY investigated.

Tips? or is this just "good soil, good light, water when almost dry" like most (reasonable) indoor plants?

(both pics are the same plant, different lighting/angle)

Thank you in advance good folks of houseplants.

Can someone give me some tips? Or help? Aloe.

Hello there.

I recently picked up an aloe with a bunch of little ones in a big pot from a sorta neighbor. The pic doesnt do it justice, its gotta be like a 12 inch pot. Super heavy, but nice of her to give it to me me with the purchase.

Anyways, I have a small single aloe that is much more... dense? and deep green. (not pictured)
The one she gave me is less "dense" and less deep green. (pic attached) I imagine it has water in it and thats why, as my little one is still rooting after some rot issues.

TLDR:
Is this aloe normal/healthy looking? I know it sounds crazy to ask about succulents, but of everything ive had ive always killed them the fastest heh.

Dying Salt and pepper vibrant colors. There HAS to be a way

TLDR at the end if you dont care about the background. I just want help either way :)

Hello there.
Slightly under middle aged man here.

I searched through this and other reddits to see if i could find something about this, but i guess my hair is a bit different than how grays happen for some.
Seems people get streaks or spots that turn gray and then slowly it spreads(?).

Setup:
For me, ive had a few grays since my late 20s. almost 10 years later and i have a bit more and id say they are more silver/white than gray these days. Probably like, 20ish percent, maybe a bit less.
I have medium to dark brown hair, very straight and fine. Dry when dry, way oily after a few days of any real activity.
Ive had it way long, buzzed and many styles in between. currently i let a salon student just experiment on me, and i came away with one of the better haircuts ive ever had. Shows what a little patience and care can do. Its not crazy, but its not lazy. She was also fantastic to chat with.
The haircut is quite short, 2-3 inches tops. Shorter on the sides, a little longer on the top.

The point:
I have let it be natural cause i dont really mind the grays, and a certain person whose opinion i once held in high regard always enjoyed them.
I have dyed it semi permanent colors that look cool in the light but fade in less than a week.
i have dyed it permanent colors medium brown/dark brown just to do some coverage here and there when im not being lazy (its not a secret i have them).
I have dyed it permanent colors of the vibrant variety-blue as well as green.

The issue i have is that the permanent dye works well, but i cant get the colors to really show, they just dye my hair like normal almost.
Granted i havent tried it in a while, but i recall it was an issue looking sort of "meh, might as well have not dyed it at all/might as well have dyed it brown again".

So i ask you friends-
How can i color the silver/white/grays to look interesting? Mine are sort of speckled and only the sides really have any sort of uniformity I posted some images that are similar. Mine is probably a little more stark in the speckled way, but these were as close as i could get.
( i dont want to post myself here)

TLDR:
(Permanent, not semi or demi is what i seek)
-Looking for blue or purple. or a mix.
-Have silver/white/gray speckled salt and pepper hair
-15-20 percent white shades, the rest dark/medium brown
-How can i achieve making these lighter strands colorful?
(my hair is a little less "gray/white/silver" than the pics, not in pigment, but in percentage of how much)

---Bleach up a few shades overall just to make it stick?
---Use the developer first to open up the hair, then use the color?
---Color it then keep it up with color in my conditioner?

"no, nothing will work unless you bleach your hair completely"
(if this is really true, ill take it and walk i guess lol)

I currently have Ion Azure, and it sorta works (i use the ion brown and its fantastic), but there has to be a way, even if i need to do maintenance or something. Like i asked, maybe bleach up a little first? I dont care if the dark hair gets a bit colored in the process.

Sorry for the long post, just want to get all the details. Thank you!

Help with this bromeliad? Dying but no pups.

Hello there,

I bought a random bromiliad and it said once the flower/middle growth dies it produces pups you can propagate.

No pups on mine still? I've seen videos and pics where there are little ones next to it but not on mine? It did well and was thriving until it's inevitable end..

Will this work? Propagating "wet sticks" -put in water.

I posted earlier about a cut down pothos that was way leggy from a friend. Hard to see in the thumbnail, but if you zoom in (sorry-growlight) you can see spots for roots to pop out.
I tied them together so they wouldnt sink in the water, and added a ziptie so they could be perfectly elevated with the tops out, but the rest submerged.

Will this work? or is there nothing left here?

Thanks for all the help, youve been great all

What to do with a gifted pothos that had to be cut way back?

https://preview.redd.it/qd5djw35768h1.png?width=848&format=png&auto=webp&s=b5d211afd4a42299f5dc7991d4cab6d61f5e1c93

(pic in post)
Hello there.

This was gifted to me earlier today. I cut off the 4-5 foot vines and propagated them a bunch because they were super thick and dense, but very leggy.
So 2 questions.
I put the "wet sticks" node-down in about 1 inch of arid moist soil in a plastic bag and hit it with water.
I took the mother and cut her down to the picture above, and put new soil (with a bit of compost) in. Gave it a filtered watering until it ran out the holes in the bottom.

Can i leave both of these things under a grow light for a day or 2 constantly (like i do with my basil) while they grow/propagate/heal etc...?

Or should i just put it on a regular cycle right away?

I figure after 2-3 days i can just leave them to the north and west facing windows and they will eventually come back (most pothos props do this way) but ive never done the wet sticks or had to cut a pothos all the way back.

Will the light trick work to give it energy for a period, then back to regular to be able to rest and re-energize?

Tips? Tricks for faster/better growth?
