Fuel system service: tank cleaning, strainer and filter replacement

This should have been the first project when I got the car last year.

Your thoughts on installing an oil catch can?

Sending oil into the air intake doesn't seem ideal in any quantity. I am beginning to seriously consider installing an oil catch can. Your thoughts?

Are you running an oil catch can?

When I saw that the valve cover breather hose vents into the airbox and turns the foam insert into sticky debris, I figured there has to be a better way. Beyond destroying the foam, all that oil vapor and contamination ends up going downstream through the intake system.

If any engine seems like a good candidate for an oil catch can, it has to be the M102.

If you are running one, could you share photos of your setup and plumbing? I'm interested in seeing what catch cans you're using, where you've mounted them, and how you've routed the hoses.

AMG monoblocks still heavily contaminated after two rounds of cleaning

I've done two cleaning cycles back to back:

- Scrubbed with WD-40

- Washed with Dawn dish soap

- Used Meguiar's wheel cleaner

Then repeated it a second time.

There's still a lot of embedded grime and staining that doesn't seem to want to come off. The mounting pad where the wheel contacts the brake rotor also has a fair amount of rust transfer, but surprisingly the Meguiar's wheel cleaner didn't react to it at all. I was expecting at least some color change if it was iron contamination. The machined lip also does not seem to respond to my efforts.

Any recommendations?

CLK 16” Fuchs fitment check. Will 205/50R16 clear front fenders/bumper?

I’m about to order tires for my 16” CLK lightweight Fuchs rims. The wheels are ET37 instead of the original ET44, so I wanted to double check fitment before ordering tires.

Will 205/50R16 fully clear the fenders on a stock 190E, especially up front where the fender meets the bumper?

Would appreciate input from anyone running this setup or something close to it. Photos would help too.

After two years of regular use, the silicone temple end covers on my Maui Jim Lele Kawas basically melted. It feels like the original adhesive dissolved them to goo from the inside. The rest of the glasses show little wear. Close to zero visible damage on the lenses after two years of use.

I contacted Maui Jim. They mailed me a pair of new replacement covers. No questions asked and free of charge. Kudos to Maui Jim customer service for displaying a rare level of commitment to customer satisfaction in 2026.

I have a tube of Permatex Clear RTV Silicone Adhesive Sealant. Can I use it to attach the new ones?
