Giant Centipede - Labyrinth Lord Bestiary Project

Giant Centipede - Labyrinth Lord Bestiary Project

Another entry from my ongoing stock-art project to draw every monster from the Labyrinth Lord Bestiary. It's going slower than I would like... but that's OK - still chugging through them. I'm nearly done with 'C' and this is my favourite of the bunch:

I tried to stick with the idea they are 1-2 foot long and not the massive man-sized ones seen in later versions of DnD.

Entries 14 and 15 of my draw the Labyrinth Lord bestiary project...

I'm currently drawing my way through the Labyrinth Lord bestiary for fun and to create a bank of stock-art. I'm having a blast doing my takes on a few classic monsters and my style is very much rooted in the OSR tradition, particularly British illustrators like Russ Nicholson (RIP).

Anyway, hope you dig them!

Labyrinth Lord - Draw the Bestiary Project - Part 2

I've been steadily working on my project to draw all the monsters from the original Labyrinth Lord core rules. I managed to complete A and B inbetween commision work and I'm having a blast with it, especially getting to design some cool giant beetles... All art traditionally Hand-Drawn using brushpens!

Featured in this post are my takes on Giant Carnivorous Beetle, Giant Fire Beetle, Giant Spitting Beetle, Black Pudding, Blink Dog, Giant Boar and a Bugbear!

I always planned to release these as stock art on drive-thru and have all the monsters done so far available: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/en/publisher/14625/nerdgore

Anyway, hope you guys like them.... Next is Camel onwards ☺️

Labyrinth Lord - Draw the Bestiary project!

I've set myself a pretty big task of drawing every monster in the original Labyrinth Lord books monster section.

I've drawn professionally for a bunch of different games (Lone Wolf gamebooks, Four Against Darkness, OSE, etc) but have a real love for bestiary illustrations and the kind of stuff Russ Nichollson used to draw back in the day.

This is what I have so far, 6 monsters in haha... These are all drawn by hand using brushpens in a Moleskine sketchbook. I'm really enjoying the simplicity of just trying to draw good monster illos.

I think eventually I will release them as stock art for peoples projects, but I need a fair few more under my belt before then!

Thanks for looking

Nasty Little Gobbo

I've done tons of traditional OSR black and white ink line art but recently started experimenting with charcoal and watercolour for something a bir different.

What do you reckon?

Kind of has an older Warhammer vibe to it...

A Frost Orc from my solo-supplement for Dragonbane

https://preview.redd.it/vv05eoeb0a9h1.jpg?width=2021&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1625ebe34c97a88104e16bb30d7022d906c393ff

I'm a keen Dragonbane solo-player and have started working on a solo-supplement that gives a small setting based around the Magna Woods. It primarily focuses on a small frontier community where the main trade is timber harvesting. The town, Woodstone, has recently been kept in an unnatural permanent winter and has faced ongoing raids from Frost Orcs (pictured) and Ice Goblins. The town also holds a number of secrets about the wooded area where most of the harvesting takes place. Your adventurer is called there to discover what is causing the magical ongoing Winter.

I'm in the process of writing the supplement but I'm an illustrator by trade and thought I would share one of the pieces from the book. This is a slight departure for me as I'm traditionally a black and white ink artist but wanted to try and 'emulate' the DB style a little more. Using charcoal pencils and Payne's Grey watercolour!

A Page From My Solo Journal...

Thought you guys might like to see another page from my solo RPG journal. This is a play test of a new game called Dwarf! where you play a dwarf (obvs) that is trying to get back home. It's an OSR hex crawl with dungeon elements and enjoying it so far.

My process has evolved a bit and I've dropped the side bars detailing dice rolls, etc and just gone with a flowing story/diary... There's plenty of rolling in the background though!

Instrumental Bands like Russian Circles

I'm on a huge Russian Circles kick at the moment. I love nothing more than drawing and solo-rpging in a notebook and listening to these dudes play. It's like a form of meditation.

Any other bands that play that combo of sort heavy and chill that takes you on a bit of journey (cheesy I know, but can't think how else to put it)...

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Sooooo many reccomendations here... I'm already deep into Pelican's back catalogue, thank you so much guys!

This is my first time screenprinting some shirts and it's been a trial by fire, lol. The photo is my shirts after a first wash... my guess is that because I'm 'flashing' with a heat gun, it's not bound to the shirt properly (see picture)...

I've only washed one shirt as a test... so my question is can I flash the others I printed yesterday some more and they will come good?

Or can you leave them to dry naturally?

Or they just stuffed lol...

any help, much appreciated!
