im a person who listens to a lot of genres, if I have to say which then it'll be Rock and metal (mostly prog, doom, traditional heavy), ambient and slow core, then game ost's and classical music. as a person who has listened to many types of music pop is the most consumerism, Pop music isn't even really a genre. If you were to msucially classify it, you'd classify it because of how it's made to sound. It's made to sound catchy, rhythmic, simple (in a bad sloppy unintentional way) and features popular themes like love and stuff. also modern "musicians" aren't musicians they are celebs w mics. they don't respect music, they don't know an ounce of theory or classical which created the blueprint for modern music. there are some lines in music which are objective, music isn't just vibes its architecture, linguistics, math etc etc. ofc I respect some modern musicians but do they get praise? I personally think the industry, capitalism and peoples laziness killed music. they don't care about music they care about how can it be consumed its like a microwaved grilled cheese vs biryani, one is harder to make but biryani ofc is superior leagues ahead. Music should never be catchy. It shouldn't infect you when you listen to it, it should enlighten you. ppl like pop for vibes but every other genre vibes harder. Pop music, because it's made for a general population, inherently CANNOT EVER BE GOOD
sadly this is the standard, and a lil more personal take, pop is just annoying and sloppy to me like if I try to listen to its genres or subgenres it get hurts to listen to and to even start on Indian pop/hiphop like omg
for some reason nowadays I've been more obsessed with dark fantasy, liminal spaces, Frutiger aero, weird/dreamcore cybercore, other fantasies like high fantasy and stuff like that. brings me comfort but for some reason my brain wants to indulge more, but can't handle it like I wanna watch it but I want to also apply it, show it to the world, store it like idk it's messing me up cuz I keep engaging and saving all of it and its taking over my mind.
