Thought Id diversify the feed with this super rare Shunbun
I got my first real scratch on my Shunbun today.
I honestly thought I’d be disappointed. Instead… I caught myself smiling.
I was rushing because I wanted to surprise my girlfriend for her birthday with balloons, gifts, and a cake. Somewhere during all that, the bracelet got scratched.
At first I just stared at it. Then I realized something.
That scratch has a story behind it. It’s not just random wear. I remember exactly how it happened.
I bought this watch to wear every day, not to keep locked away. So instead of feeling upset, I actually felt kind of happy. It finally feels like my watch.
Funny how one little scratch completely changed the way I look at it.
I have a confession 😆 I absolutely love my Shunbun, but I can’t stop thinking about the Atera Valley lately.
Anyone else gone from a Shunbun to an Atera Valley?
When I first got the Shunbun, I thought the dial would be the star of the show. And while the dial is absolutely stunning, the more time I spend with it, the more I realize it’s everything else too.
The case design, the Zaratsu finishing, the sharp facets, the beautifully executed indices and hands, the way light dances across every surface, and of course the smooth Spring Drive sweep. Every detail feels thoughtfully crafted and works together to create something greater than the dial alone.
It’s one of those watches that keeps revealing new things the longer you own it. Truly a special watch.
Caught my Shunbun blushing and I had to take a pic
Guess which 2 photos were taken on an iphone
Finally took the Shunbun out with my camera instead of my iPhone. I absolutely love this watch. The detail of the indices and the dial texture are just amazing. The case shape is so unique, and the finishing is borderline unfair. The Zaratsu polishing blinding my eyes while I drive..marvelous. Everything about this watch is just gorgeous. The more time I spend with this watch, the more I appreciate the little details.
Enjoy these photos. Hopefully Reddit doesn’t butcher the quality.
Hope Reddit compression doesn’t butcher these too much 😅
Ref # — you already know 😆
Sometimes I check the watch for the time. Sometimes I check it because it’s pretty. The problem is I forget which one I was doing. I can’t be the only one who’s looked at their watch and had to consciously snap out of it to remember I was checking the time. Wearing a nice watch has genuinely made me worse at telling time 😆
Anyways, the Shunbun has been my favorite watch since I got it. Everyone talks about the dial, and for good reason, but I’ve found myself paying more attention to the case lately. The lines, finishing, and reflections are just ridiculously well done. Every time I think I’ve seen everything this watch has to offer, a different lighting condition proves me wrong.

Timeline of My Citizen AQ4100-57C Experience
• Purchased AQ4100-57C for approximately $3,411.
• Citizen performed complimentary sizing before shipping.
• Watch arrived with a scratch that was not expected on a new watch.
• I was told that a replacement watch had been secured for me.
• Citizen received the returned watch on May 14.
• After Citizen received the watch, I received no updates.
• I emailed Citizen on May 19 requesting an update.
• On May 26, Citizen contacted me and informed me that there would be no replacement after all, despite previously telling me one was available.
• During that same communication, I was told that my refund had been processed immediately and that I should expect it within 5–7 business days.
• After waiting, no refund appeared and I again had to reach out for an update.
• On June 5, I received an email stating that a manual refund had been processed on June 5 and that I should allow another 5–7 business days.
• The refund amount listed was lower than the amount I originally paid, creating additional concerns that remain unresolved.
My Concerns
I was told a replacement was available, then later told there was no replacement.
Citizen had possession of my watch on May 14, yet I received no meaningful updates until I followed up.
I was told on May 26 that my refund had been processed immediately, but on June 5 I was informed that a manual refund was processed on June 5.
The refund amount listed appears to be less than the amount I originally paid.
As a customer spending over $3,000 on a watch, I expected better communication, clearer updates, and a smoother resolution process.
