Okami-like games with other mythologies ideas

I think an Okami-style game set in a different mythological context would be really cool.

A falcon or scarab representing Horus or Ra fighting Apophis in a style reminiscent of hieroglyphs, perhaps the ravens Huginn and Muninn in a dual-character gameplay setup, holding back Ragnarok with a Viking art style a deer for Cernunnos, using the animation style of Cartoon Saloon films like Song of the Sea or Wolfwalkers battling Balor and his Fomorians, a serpent for Quetzalcoatl fighting a jaguar representing Tezcatlipoca, featuring a Mesoamerican art style and alebrijes instead of the Brush Gods, an owl representing Athena tasked with protecting a flawed hero, much like Amaterasu does with Susanoo in Okami; Sun Wukong. already a monkey, rendered in an ink-wash painting style and fighting the Bull Demon King, Ganesha as an elephant battling Ravana in the style of Indian tapestries....

Share your own concepts ! ( this is not a question about game recommandation )

Size of Mushroom Kingdom

If you look at the map in Super Mario Odyssey, you can see that the Mushroom Kingdom is a relatively small island. I find it surprising that it can contain so many different areas, especially compared to other kingdoms where we only see a small section in Super Mario Odyssey, yet which turn out to be quite small overall. Do you think the Beanbean Kingdom and the Flower Kingdom are part of that same landmass, or are they separate islands nearby that simply aren't shown on the map? It would seem odd for three kingdoms to share that one island when other kingdoms cover so much territory. Also, I wonder where the Koopa Kingdom is. Do Bowser and the Koopas come from the Bowser's Kingdom seen in Super Mario Odyssey ? Or is Bowser the king of just a tiny part of the island? That would be a bit ridiculous. I suppose the answer is mostly that they’ve never been consistent with the geography, but I’d like to know what you think. (Sorry for the language; I'm French.)

A blog about the reception of myths in pop-culture

Hello, I’m French. I apologize for the fact that my first post is self-promotion, but I’m currently writing a blog where each article explores how a mythological creature or character is reinterpreted in pop culture.

It’s written for a general audience, but since I don’t have many readers yet, I’d love to know what you think of it.Hello, I’m French. Are god of rain and god of sea the same ?

( sorry for the language, I'm french )

I find this to be an interesting question; on one hand, Shandora presents us with four gods: the god of the earth, the god of the sea, the god of the sun, and the god of the forest.

However, while the Elbaf mural retains the other three gods, it replaces the god of rain with the god of the sea.

On the surface, one might easily imagine these are the same gods viewed through two different lenses: for a sky-dwelling people with Aztec-inspired culture (where the rain god Tlaloc represented natural disasters), water is embodied by rain rather than the sea, whereas for a Viking-inspired people, water is primarily embodied by the sea.

I get the impression that the other two Ancient Weapons don't really overlap with these gods (Pluton bears the name of the Roman god of the underworld, representing what lies beneath the earth, while Uranus is the god of the sky, representing what lies above). Therefore, it would make more sense for the "god of the sea" to represent water in general (encompassing both the sea and rain), while Poseidon remains entirely distinct from that concept.

Furthermore, Poseidon's sole power is commanding the Sea Kings; while they certainly live in the water, they are not literally water itself. The mural implies that the sea god unleashed his wrath; however, knowing that sea levels are rising and seeing rain depicted in the mural, I wonder if this refers to a deluge, which is typically caused by rain. (This reminds me of the rain that fell in Alabasta to end the war, especially since the sea seems to reject Devil Fruits, not necessarily because it rejects freedom, but because it dreads the chaos of human warfare and the impact of the Ancient Kingdom's technology on nature. The rain might thus be attempting to restore balance between two warring factions, given that nature itself is neither good nor evil.)

We also see that Zaza, the rain goddess, frightens the Celestial Dragons, precisely because she supposedly nearly destroyed the world in an act of vengeance against humanity?

On the other hand, perhaps there are simply minor gods; yet, why would Zaza be introduced before the other major gods? Rain and the sea are distinct concepts, though they remain linked to the same element, whereas the other three gods belong to entirely separate domains

[SS] Who are these people in the Skyward Sword prequel manga ?

I was reading the *Skyward Sword* prequel manga, and I know it isn't canon, but I was wondering if those creatures were supposed to represent a specific race?

Obviously, the ones on the right are Gorons; I actually think it's pretty cool that they're depicted as earth elementals or golems.

But the ones on the left...I'm not sure. Their bodies don't resemble a Parella, a robot, or a Kikwi, and their faces don't look like a Mogma's.

A little crazy nintendo universe theory

Even though it’s completely convoluted, I’ve always wanted to try my hand at a theory about the Nintendo universe, so why not? ( sorry for the language, I'm french )

First, there is an entity known as the Void, composed of everything that exists.
Why? We’ll see that later.
Then there are the three Golden Goddesses, tasked with creating the earth and life, while Null want to rebel against these Goddesses who encroach on his territory. There are two parallel dimensions: the Sacred Realm, where the gods (like Palutena) dwell, and the Dark World, home to demons (like Hades).

Pit defeats Hades, but Null absorbs his lingering malice to form a new Demon King: Demise.

Only Hylia, an angel on par with Pit, manages to defeat the Demon King and secure the Triforce.

With the help of antic technology of the Ancients ( we will see them later ), the Sheikah technology evolve, but regressed when Demise rise.

The three Zelda timelines unfold until they eventually merge in *Breath of the Wild*.

Meanwhile, civilizations on other planets evolve; while Hyrule sits at the center of the universe, Earth's inhabitants remain largely unconcerned with cosmic threats. This sets the stage for *EarthBound*, followed by *Animal Crossing*, where animals evolve eventually leading to the spacefaring eras of *Metroid*, *F-Zero*, and *Star Fox*. ( Honestly, I don't know if I prefer if the humans come from earth and colonise Hyrule, or if they come from Hyrule and colonise Earth )

However, while the planet of Hyrule remains trapped in an eternal cycle of creation and destruction, humans destroy their own home world, spreading out into space and abandoning the planet. This leads to *Pikmin* and then *Splatoon*, before Earth freezes over completely, as seen in *Kirby*.

Kirby himself battles endlessly against various incarnations of the Void while uncovering traces of the Ancients.

Among the Ancient are the Zonai, who found a new Hyrule in the hope that a new hero clad in green will one day rise. Indeed, after many centuries, and with new humans having settled on the planet (hints in *Super Mario Odyssey* suggest humans are space explorers who may not originate from this world, so I guess this is not the same as Hyrule but why not ? ), Mario and Luigi are born. However, with the Master Sword lost, the brothers are unable to defeat Bowser, the new incarnation of the Demon King, whose own power is also diminished (though he has mastered still dark magic, drawn from that same Dark World).

The same applies to Peach, a distant descendant of Hylia: in reality, it was Rosalina, Peach's ancestor, who received the Triforce of Wisdom, but since only her brother had childrens, Bowser can never be defeated.

With the disappearance of the Triforce, the Sacred Realm also gradually fades away, while Kirby struggles to cope with repeated invasions by the Void.

That is why the goddesses charged Rosalina, as a distant descendant of Hylia, with maintaining cosmic balance, acting as the guardian of the Lumas, she counters the forces of evil that seek to devour them.

Kirby battles Void Termina, but the truth is undeniable: the world is dying and the forces of evil are winning. Rosalina resets the universe and attempts to push it ever further, but it is too late; everything must come to an end.

However, as the entire world merges to become Void Termina once more, three Zonai named Din, Nayru and Farore traveled back to the dawn of time with the chronolithes to recreate the world. This would explain why so many ancient races ( Zonai, Sheikah, Ancients, Chozo ) are so technologically advanced. They realized that the universe operates in a cycle and are trying to delay the inevitable, some by playing gods, others by founding the Intergalactic Federation.

First, there is an entity known as the Void, composed of everything that exists.

Then there are the three Golden Goddesses, tasked with creating the earth and life, while a negative impulse gives rise to "null." There are two parallel dimensions: the Sacred Realm, where the gods (like Palutena) dwell, and the Dark World, home to demons (like Hades).

Pit defeats Hades, but Null absorbs his lingering malice to form a new Demon King: Demise.

Only Hylia, an angel on par with Pit, manages to defeat the Demon King and secure the Triforce.

Among them are the Zonai, who found a new Hyrule in the hope that a new hero clad in green will one day rise. Indeed, after many centuries—and with humans having settled on the planet of Hyrule (hints in *Super Mario Odyssey* suggest humans are space explorers who may not originate from this world)—Mario and Luigi are born. However, because they are twins, the Triforce splits in two; with the Master Sword lost, the brothers are unable to defeat Bowser, the new incarnation of the Demon King, whose own power is also diminished (though he has mastered still dark magic, drawn from that same Dark World)

The same applies to Peach, a distant descendant of Hylia: in reality, it was Rosalina, Peach's ancestor, who received the Triforce of Wisdom, but since only her brother had childrens, Bowser can never be defeated.

However, as the entire world merges to become Void Termina once more during one of these resets, the three Golden Goddesses manage to shape an egg, offering the universe a new beginning.

The Egg of Arceus.

So yes, one could theorize that the events on Earth took place before everything else, and that the Golden Goddesses were technologically advanced Zonai who once again attempted to seal away the Void, which was already beginning to rebel back then, but since the Pokémon universe already has its own cosmology, I didn't want to take it too far.
