Age of Trainers - Pokémon FireRed / LeafGreen Challenge

Age of Trainers - Pokémon FireRed / LeafGreen Challenge

Hey everyone,

I’d like to introduce a Pokémon FireRed / LeafGreen challenge.

Core Idea: Every Trainer has 3 Pokemon. As long as a trainer lives (hearts remaining), you can use its Pokemon.

Before starting the game, eliminate one Trainer from each row except the first by asking your mother or friend. These are the trainers, with unfortunate fate by getting eliminated at the beginning of their journey. You can not use their Poekmon anymore (Rule 3).

The goal is simple: make it through the entire game and beat the Elite Four by maintaining following rules:

Rule 1: Pokémon faints = Associated Trainer loses 1 heart (Put a coin or something to the trainer with that Pokemon)
Whenever a Pokémon faints, the Trainer associated with that Pokémon loses one heart.

Rule 2: 0 hearts = eliminated
If a Trainer reaches 0 hearts, they are eliminated for the rest of the playthrough.

Rule 3: Eliminated Trainer’s Pokémon are forbidden
Pokémon belonging to a Trainer who has been eliminated can no longer be used (Evolutions included).

Rule 4: Lose of morality
The entire challenge is lost if 5 or more Trainers lose at least one heart (The eliminated Trainers at the beginning do not count).

What do you thing about the challenge?

Pokémon FireRed / LeafGreen Challenge

Hey everyone,

I’d like to introduce a Pokémon FireRed / LeafGreen challenge with a little twist. The goal is simple: make it through the entire game and beat the Elite Four — but every Trainer’s survival matters.

Every Trainer has 3 Pokemon as you can see in the attached document.

The Rules

Rule 1: Pokémon faints = Associated Trainer loses 1 heart (Put a coin or something to the trainer with that Pokemon)
Whenever a Pokémon faints, the Trainer associated with that Pokémon loses one heart.

Rule 2: 0 hearts = eliminated
If a Trainer reaches 0 hearts, they are eliminated for the rest of the playthrough.

Rule 3: Eliminated Trainer’s Pokémon are forbidden
Pokémon belonging to a Trainer who has been eliminated can no longer be caught or used.

Rule 4: Beat the Elite Four
The ultimate goal is to defeat the Elite Four.

When do we lose?

The entire challenge is lost if 5 or more Trainers lose at least one heart.

So every single faint matters. One unlucky battle could start a chain reaction and completely ruin the run.

What do you think?

Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen – Role Challenge

Is Pokémon FireRed or LeafGreen too easy for you?

You can always play through the game normally—but many players enjoy adding self-imposed challenges to make the adventure more difficult. The most famous example is the Nuzlocke Challenge, where special rules increase the difficulty.

The Role Challenge takes a different approach. Instead of restricting how you play, it restricts which Pokémon you can use.

I created 6 different role-based challenges for Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen.

Each role has its own:

  • Exclusive Pokémon pool (you may only use Pokémon assigned to your role)
  • Starter Pokémon
  • Legendary Pokemon

Every role offers a completely different experience.

Special Rules

For example:

  • Professor Oak: May choose any starter Pokémon and can obtain Aerodactyl.
  • Butler: May catch all three Legendary Birds.
  • Team Rocket: Cannot keep a normal starter. Catch a Rattata as soon as possible, then permanently box your starter. Mewtwo is your ultimate reward.

Challenge

Standard: Defeat the Elite Four.

Master: Defeat the Elite Four a second time using different Pokemon from your first try.

Roles

Butler – Collects rare and prestigious Pokémon.

Professor Oak – Studies and catches many different Pokémon species.

Ash – Becomes Champion using Pokémon from the Red version path.

Gary – Becomes Champion using Pokémon from the Blue version path.

Team Rocket – Uses any available means to capture Mewtwo.

Ace Trainer – Wins through trust, teamwork, and the Feminine Path.

Important Note: I did this work compeltely by my own without usage of AI

Pick a Role and beat Elite Four - Pokemon FireRed / LeafGreen Challenge

I created 5 different role-based challenges for Pokémon FireRed & LeafGreen. Each role has its own exclusive Pokémon pool — you can only use the Pokémon listed for your chosen role.

Your goal is to defeat the Elite Four while following your role's restrictions and rules.

Every role has its own starter Pokémon (first partner Pokémon).

Ash, for example, has no restrictions on his starter Pokémon.

Team Rocket does not have access to any of the usual starter Pokémon. Instead, they have to catch a Rattata as soon as possible and put their chosen starter into the PC.

Short description of the roles:

Butler:

He wants the rarest Pokémon. For him, Pokémon are a symbol of prestige and status.

Professor Oak:

He catches Pokémon of many different types to collect, study, and learn from them. He has the largest Pokémon pool.

Ash:

He wants to become a Champion. To achieve this, he focuses on strong Pokémon. His path is the red path.

Gary:

He also wants to become a Champion. To achieve this, he focuses on strong Pokémon. His path is the blue path.

Team Rocket:

They want to steal the strongest Pokémon. To achieve this, they use many different kinds of Pokémon and rely on whatever Pokémon they can obtain.

I Let My Mom Decide Which Pokémon I Could Catch

I came up with a Pokémon Game challenge and wanted to hear your thoughts.

"Ash's Mom Challenge"

Before starting your playthrough, choose one person (for example, your mom, dad, sibling, or a friend). They must not know they're part of a Pokémon challenge.

Whenever you want to catch a new Pokémon species, show it to them and ask something simple like:

"Should I get this?"

"Is it worth it?"

"Should I take this one?"

Don't mention the challenge.

If they say yes, you're allowed to catch that species.

If they say no, you're permanently banned from catching that Pokémon species or their evolution line for the rest of the run.

Alternative version: "Ash's Mom Draft"

Before starting the game, print out a list with images of every Pokémon available in that game. Only the final evolutions are needed.

Have your mom (or another person) go through the list and mark which Pokémon you're allowed to use. You can simply tell them it’s for a fun little survey or a game you’re planning, where they help decide your team by picking which Pokémon they think are cool or which ones you should be allowed to use. They don't need to know it's for a Pokémon challenge.

During your playthrough, you may only catch Pokémon that evolve into one of the approved final evolutions.

Which version sounds more fun to you: the original Ash's Mom Challenge, where every catch is decided during the run, or this draft version?
