Idea
What if there’s a subspecies of these creatures and they spawn in bushes or flora in the tiles and as a greater curse or a progression event at around the collapse they start spawning and start migrating in massive swarms
mechanics
usually the migrate out of bounds in the start game but after around 15 level they can go into the map tiles often in a straight line but still a little spread out if these are touched they do tiny amounts of damage around 1 but if not careful they can murder you if your deep in the swarm there can be larger variants often 2 per 5 levels that deal 10 damage
Avoidance
There could be an upgrade to counter them like bug spray that once in contact the bugs die however you still get 1 damage every now and then
Gimmicks
Bells can actually kill these bugs if a swarm hits one a little ring but doesn’t shake the screen happens and kills the bugs
Mart if collides with the swarm causes them the some of the swarm to die
Husk if collided by the swarm causes them to do the same as the player
Scrapmaw instantly kills them
Baby once hits the swarm starts screaming uncontrollably however doesn’t target the player after 3 seconds it wears off (This doesn’t happen to voidbound)
Razorbloom actually dies if you get to 10 HP
Oblivion Forces the swarm to go to the top tiles and they wait
Cadence once enraged causes the swarm to leave out of bounds
Charging into them causes them to die
Bouncepads kill them by making them fall
Grappler also kills some
Spirit causes them to not attack
