36 Year-old man confused about his place in life.

I'm 36 years old, and I have held a pretty decent-paying job for the past decade, with a satisfactory amount of money in my savings and retirement accounts. Given where I started in life, I should be very proud of myself. However, I still don't feel like an adult. I'm unmarried, I'm childless, and I don't own a home or any property. On top of that, I feel incredible internal pressure to change that right now. I thought I was close to achieving that with my ex, but that went sideways. Now, I feel like I'm super laser-focused on marriage and children more than anything because I feel like I'm running out of time. I will not even consider a second date if I see a trace of a red flag in someone. Am I the only one feeling this way? Am I running out of time?

Class Suggestions

I need some suggestions. I am a high school English teacher with average students in my class, meaning they never read for leisure or fun. However, I have a wonderful collection of books in the classroom that I can give away for free or lend out. Do you have any suggestions for compelling my students to read at least one book a year? I can't include it in the core curriculum because we're preparing for the Regents and need to stay focused on that. Is there a way to do it as makeup work or extra credit? I appreciate any ideas or suggestions.

Regents Pay???

I did per-session grading for the ELA Regents during the pay period of 6/1-6/15. Does anyone know when that paycheck should be arriving?

Paycheck Deductions

To summarize, I had a complicated year outside the building, which required me to miss many days and leave work early multiple times. I didn't present notes because I wasn't accustomed to doing so. I will be more mindful about that in the future. I noticed that on my last check for June, I was deducted for two charges:

UNAUTH ABSENCE: 433

AWOP TIME: 380

I'm curious about the difference between these two charges. Can anyone expand on this?

UFT Chapter Leader Maybe?

I'm debating running for UFT Chapter leader next year.

  1. What is the difference between the Chapter Leader and Delegate?
  2. In your opinion, what makes a good chapter leader?
  3. What are the best and worst parts of the job?

DOE: Prose Program

My school is debating making a switch to become a PROSE School.

I've heard everything from conflicting views to outright negativity about adopting the PROSE program. I need to know what people's experiences are in PROSE programs: the good, the bad, and the ugly.
