Upgraded my desi eGPU setup to RX 7900XT & trying out 007 First Light

Upgraded from reference design RX 6800 16GB that I've been running for 2 years to reference 7900 XT 20 GB. Got a nice 80% boost in Steel Nomad benchmarks after a little bit of OC and UV.

RX 6800 Steel Nomad score - 3134

RX 7900 XT Steel Nomad score - 5635

So decided to throw 007 First Light at it. No RT, No upscaling and all settings at Ultra at 1440p gives me ~100 FPS, very good 1% lows & 11 GB VRAM consumption. Hoping to see FSR4 integration soon in the game.

Anyone using eSATAp to Sata 22 Pin cable to connect a SSD to router for mini NAS ?

I have a Linksys WRT1200AC running openwrt. It has a USB3.0 port where I have attached a 128 GB USB 3.0 flash drive. I also want to use the eSATAp port to connect a 2.5" SSD using this eSATAp to 22 pin Sata cable.

Got the monitor arm - Its too good for my cheap table

I will be upgrading the table and getting another monitor. Till then yeah the setup looks messy. The arm itself was easy to install and very smooth to move around.

Enhance ENP-7660L-OVT - 600W Flex PSU - Is it ok to connect GPU with two 8 pin PCI-E connectors ?

As can bee seen in the diagram, there are two PCI-E 8 pin connectors but they both connect to a single slot on the PSU side ? Does this mean they won't be able to deliver enough power to a card like RX 7900XT like regular ATX/SFX PSU that have two different slots on the PSU side as well ?

New RX 7900XT - I downgraded drivers to 26.5.2 to resolve issues

I am on Windows 10 and I was on drivers 26.7.1 and Type-C display out + SAM + Overlay tab in Adrenalin were not working.

Downgraded to 26.5.2 and now all the issues are gone.

For the reference design, it runs cool and quiet.

I cannot update python-dotenv package from v1.0.1 to v1.2.2

I am running ubuntu 2404 in my EC2 instance and AWS inspector is saying that I python-dotenv package has vulnerability & I should upgrade it from v1.0.1 to v1.2.2. I have done `sudo apt update and upgrade several times but python-dotenv package is not upgrading. This vulnerability is there since 3 months.

There were other Monitor arm boxes in Trackon Warehouse 😂

Paid on Friday and it came to BLR yesterday night. I picked it up in the Track on warehouse. There was a stack of 3-4 same Sunon Monitor arms in warehouse !! The manager asked are these your friends 😂 I said yeah kinda.

So is this the new model or the old one ? Some of the boxes were less in height and longer than mine.

Free trial VPN for testing Wireguard Client Setup in OpenWRT router

I'm looking for a free trial commercial VPN primarily to access live sports streaming sites that are blocked here.

My setup:

  • OpenWrt router (Linksys WRT1200AC)
  • Planning to create a separate VPN-only SSID on OpenWrt using WireGuard

I think this is called running wireguard as a client in a router. This is part of my learning Openwrt and networking.

Which providers have worked well for you, and which ones should I avoid?

Samba package too big for LinksysWRT1200AC

EDIT - ksmbd solved the problem. Thanks u/patrakov

I just want to share my USB drive on the network.

Linksys WRT1200AC has 128MB space but two partitions - one for stock firmware and one for openwrt. Its looks like I only have 17 MB available in overlay and samba seems to need 22 mb !

verify_pkg_installable: Only have 11708k available on filesystem /overlay,
pkg samba4-libs needs 26880k
Cannot install package samba4-server

ksmbd doesnt seem to be there in the software list and I dont want to do extroot if the problem can be solved another way.

what are my options ? Build the image myself with Samba included ?

LinksysWRT1200AC - How to download firmware

I bought a used WRT1200AC. It had the firmware version 1.0.5.182144 in it. I can see on the Linksys support page that version 2.0.6.191786 is available but the *tar.gz does not have the *.img file - it is 500 MB in size and has source code. How do I get the *.img file to update the firmware ?
