My derm just called to tell me Signatera approved me for testing. He was a bit surprised (but pleased) because I’m at pretty low risk for recurrence, I had a 1A excised with clear margins, only one other atypical mole also excised in the first year of follow up. A few other biopsies all negative.
To me, the more info I have, the better, so I am intrigued by knowing if I may have some microscopic cancer cells floating around in my bloodstream. But I also can understand not wanting to know.
Has anyone in this sub had the test? Thoughts on its usefulness?

Curious if anyone diagnosed with melanoma takes it. I understand that while it has no effect on melanoma, I’m reading that it can reduce incidences of squamous and basal cell cancer, especially if you have already had a history. I’ve had one basal many years ago but I’m thinking no downside to adding this to my daily supplements. Forgot to ask my derm this morning. Thoughts?

I’m posting here because I don’t think my question is covered in any of the wedding subreddits.
Husband and I are attending a wedding in a couple of weeks. Parents of the bride are among our closest friends. The father is extremely successful financially, a net worth well into 7 or maybe 8 figures. Both the bride and groom are in their late 20s and together earn mid 6 figures. The bride has inheritance money as well as a substantial trust fund. Before you ask, not many secrets in this group!
Question: we have attended other weddings where the families were similarly financially situated, and the invitation either said no gifts or provided for a charitable donation (if you wish) to an organization selected by the bride and groom. In one instance we gave a substantial donation, more than we would have given as a wedding gift.
The registry is fully purchased. I honestly feel ridiculous giving money as a gift, even the amount we would give, while generous, is insignificant in the overall financial situation here.
I’m disappointed that there is no philanthropic option offered. Would we be totally out of line if we took it upon ourselves to go the donation route? I know the bride and groom well and I’m sure I could select an organization they would support. Do I bring it up with my friends? I think father would be cool with it, mom probably not. And again, our donation would be more than what we would give as cash.
I’m torn here. I’m likely going the path of least resistance but my social conscience is gnawing away. Thoughts?
PS: two other children were married several years ago and we gave gift cards to an art gallery and to a local artisanal market. Was trying not to duplicate those.

Husband and I invited a very close friend to stay 3 nights, she arrived yesterday. Always an excellent guest. Unfortunately, on Sunday night I began to feel ill and I now have a virus of epic proportions: no fever but mucosal cough and congestion, sweaty, nausea, fatigue and weakness. I’m medicating, tested negative for Covid RSV etc.
She is out doing some errands with my husband and it’s a pleasure to have silence here. She’s been here many times, it’s about a three hour drive for her. I’m seriously considering asking her to leave, I really do feel that sick and don’t want company even though she’s fully capable of going to the beach and fending for herself. WIBTA if I asked her to leave and come back later this summer?

Elizabeth Cutlet is opening a fitness and wellness space in the defunct SC space in Montauk. Was looking at the schedule and it’s pretty interesting. Different types of classes for a few weeks at a time plus restorative offerings late in the day. Opens on July 1. AArmy is first in, that’s a pass for me. If any of the Montauk SC peeps hit it up, please post, love to hear more.

Had morning tickets for Nan Goldin and Matisse but there’s some sort of May ceremony. No notice , of course. Was told by another disappointed ticket holder that we could use them when it opened but did not want to wait two hours and have it be crazy. Anyone know if my tickets can be used tomorrow afternoon???
