MBA after software engineering: placement data for PM, Analytics & tech roles

I'm an SDE and a graduate from IIM Lucknow.

I've received quite a few questions from developers considering an MBA to move into Product, Analytics, Strategy, Founder's Office, or other tech-management roles.

The common questions are: What roles do MBAs actually get? What are the salaries? And does an MBA make sense if you're already earning well as an SDE?

So I'm sharing placement data from Tier-1 B-schools for Product, Analytics, General Management and technology roles, covering roughly the top 50 percentile of the batch.

My intention is to showcase the realistic earning potential from an MBA For someone already doing well as an SDE, the opportunity cost of 2 years can be significant.

So, I put some actual placement numbers in one place for people who are currently deciding whether an MBA is worth it for their particular career path.

Which path would you choose for good pay + better WLB?

Hello ServiceNow community,

I have ~4 YOE in ServiceNow. Started at a Big 4 firm and currently work at a global IT services firm.

Main experience: Integrations, 3rd party scripted REST APIs, ITOM Discovery, HRSD and SecOps.

I now have similar offers from:

  1. A Global IT Service firm( Think Accenture, IBM etc) = Work will be on client projects

  2. A Mid-sized Investment Bank ( Think Julius Baer, Investec, Ziegler) = Work will be with internal ServiceNow team

  3. Big 4 ( Think Deloitte, Pwc) = client projects

At this stage what should be my priority is it good compensation + WLB + predictable hours or maximizing career growth?

For people who have worked in these setups:

- Which would you choose?

- How much better is WLB in an banking organization?

- Any major downsides to going in-house?

- Is it worth sacrificing some career growth for a more relaxed role?

Would be interested to hear about experiences, and insights from this wonderful community.

Much love 🙏🏻

Cheers!

IIM bLacKi- Placements Data - With Offer Screenshots (Part 2)

Here are a few offer letters from the current batch of Tier 1 B schools

Sharing this data here so people get an idea of the packages offered and can imagine their life after an MBA from a Tier 1 and some of the best business schools of the country.

A little context on the profiles:

- Top 50% of the batch: roughly the top brass of the class

- Consistent top performers in their respective domains

- A mix of offers across Tech, Consulting, Product Management, and General Management

- Sales & Marketing roles are not represented in this data

The profiles and offers are intended to give a broad sense of what opportunities can look like, rather than being a guarantee of outcomes

For a better representation this data includes placement offers from multiple b-schools of the coveted "BLACK", XLRI J, SPJIMR and ISB group of colleges. These are consistently ranked among the best bschools in the country

Enjoy!

Part 1: Here (only one IIM data)

Its an entire rabbit hole lol

This one just works you just have to know when and where its the best and where its not

This is the simplicity I want in my routine too 😭

Which network to select in scapia?

Hello All

those who hold scapia pls help me out!

I was applying for the scapia cc mainly for the 0% forex markup.

In the app it is giving me the option of a rupay variant as well.

Just wanted to understand if I should take it also or just stick to visa.

Like will it affect the visa card approval or delivery timelines?

I dont have much use for rupay but if its ltf and has no impact I might get that too.

Thanks!
