Confused with #2

How does (d/dx)^2 equal second derivative? I can’t see the logic behind this. I know it says operator but I think it as the square of first derivative, not the second derivative.

Source: ChatGPT but explanation is confusing

When do you think we will discover some form of intelligent life outside Earth?

Meeting human like aliens is probably not possible in the near future. Our best chance is finding a microorganisms that are not native to Earth.

Edited: Can be any form of life, not just intelligent.

Thought Mental Health Awareness Statement ?

“You matter” — This has to be one of the most overused and useless things I’ve ever heard. I know that I matter, but how is the statement “you matter” going to make the situation better? It feels like a pathetic way for mental health awareness campaigns to boost their own reputation.

“Call 988” — This also feels very useless and ridiculously annoying. I have heard negative experiences from people who called 988, including situations where the person they spoke with was rude.

“Just breathe” — This is pretty insulting to people with mental health problems. It is usually something you would tell a child who is throwing a tantrum

“Just think positively” — You cannot solve mental health problems by simply changing your attitude.

“You are not alone” — This is not true in every situation, and society usually does not care about people’s problems.

What’s your view on hypothetical AGI (Artificial General Intelligence)

Especially its impact on human skills, job market, creativity, and the environment.

AGI is an upgraded version of AI but has human level intelligence. I believe it will replace AI by around 2040. If this is true, how will this affects 2020+ baby as they enter the real world?

Grew up speaking English but I don’t have native accent?

I didn’t know I had a non-American accent until some people commented on it. I took an AI accent test, and it said that I didn’t sound American most of the time. For example, I didn’t know that “matter” and “madder” are supposed to sound the same.

How bad is this? I seem to have an accent influenced by my heritage background , even though I’m not fluent in that languag.

Opinion on different generations (Silent to Gen Z)

In terms of customer service, real world, (or in general), how do you view each of the following generation?

Silent Generation
Baby Boomers
Gen X
Gen Y
Older Gen Z

Is it a trend that older people are rude, or is it mostly baby Boomers who are seen as entitled? How did older people act when Baby Boomers were around our age?

“Escape the rat race” content on social media?

What are your thoughts on the “escape the rat race,” “escape the Matrix,” “buy my course,” “quit your 9 to 5 job” and “Bitcoin over the USD” content that’s all over Instagram? Is it mostly exaggerated, or do they make some valid points?

I think they have good point, but a lot of the people promoting this content are probably just sitting on their couch, which seems worse than the “rat race.”

More importantly, what’s the most realistic way to achieve financial freedom as early as possible?

Is it just me or mental health awareness campaign is a joke?

If you ask me, many of these so called mental health awareness resources are worse than the stigma they claim to fight. They put up signs saying things like “You Matter,” “Call 988,” or “Just Breathe,” as if those slogans create any meaningful change. It feels less like genuine support and more like a way for schools and corporations to signal that they care while protecting their reputation.

Do you guys agree with this perspective on the real world? Can 2005> confirm?

Note: It’s not my post. I found it in another subreddit. To be honest , it sounds just like real life. Any alternative perspective is welcome.

Does the 2020 effects still exist?

One of my friends said “yesterday it was 2020. Now it’s 2026”. It’s been 6 years. You cannot be seriously thinking about 2020.

To me, 2020-2021 feels like a million years ago. Only 2023+ feels recent.

  1. -> Mid 2023+ feel recent
    2025 -> Mid 2023+ feel recent
  2. -> Early 2022+ feel recent
  3. -> Late 2020+ feel recent
    2022 -> Late 2019+ feel recent
