Some ideas for Slaanesh Renegade Daemons changes.
Title pretty much.
Since the wait is killing me i thought it could be fun to sparkle a bit of discussion on what could be good changes for them.
Slaanesh used to revolve around the theme of “deadly allure,” especially throughout 6th–8th Edition Fantasy. That identity was often represented through mechanics like “Leadership test or suffer ,” with those effects ranging from damage through spells, inability to attack, striking allied units, forced movement/charges, or various debilitating effects. I’d really love to see that theme flourish again in the next update.
Here's few ideas:
- Historically, the Keeper of Secrets always had WS9 much like the Bloothirster always had WS10, so it would be nice to see that return. Multiple Wounds (2) on the claws could also fit well, especially since more recent lore often portrays Keepers as terrifying monster-slayers after the introduction of Shalaxi in 40k/AoS.
- Spells that target or exploit enemy Leadership could make a return, such as Phantasmagoria and Slicing Shards from 8th Edition.
- Bringing back the Aura of Slaanesh special rule for Keepers of Secrets and Daemonettes (possibly Seekers too) from 6th Edition would be fantastic.
- Daemonettes could perhaps have either WS5 (like in 7th–8th Edition) or S4 (like in 6th Edition). Drilled and "First to the Fray" (or possibly Swiftstride) as purchasable +1 pt/model upgrades would also fit their lightning-fast, hyper-agile identity very well.
- The Infernal Enrapturess’ Daemonic Gift could perhaps also buff the bearer herself.
- Seekers being able to flee as a charge reaction, possibly alongside Feigned Flight, would fit the deceptive and elusive nature of Slaaneshi daemons while also reinforcing their fast cavalry battlefield role with some tactical options that Daemons notably lack.
- The Banner of Acquiescence could probably go down by 5 points so that it becomes viable on non-BSB standard bearers.
- Soporific Musk targeting units instead of individual models would bring it more in line with Enchanting Aura from Warriors of Chaos. Alternatively, halving enemy WS and Initiative like it did in 6th Edition could also work really well.
- Soul Hunger and Spell Breaker from 6th Edition would be amazing to see return.
- Temptator and Spirit Swallower from 7th Edition could also come back.
- Aetherblade could perhaps return to 45 points, as it was in 6th Edition when it was still called the Blade of Aether.
- Many-Armed Monstrosity could probably go down to 40 points to align with the Warriors of Chaos equivalent.
- It would be amazing if mono-god armies received a meaningful army-wide bonus, making mono-Slaanesh not only viable but also mechanically distinct from mixed Daemon armies.
- It would also be nice to see Daemons receive some kind of bonus to casting Assailment spells, considering they are beings of pure magic that fight through supernatural power.
- Furies probably shouldn’t have to pay for Marks. At 12 points base they already feel a bit too expensive for what they do, especially after the Vanguard nerf in the 1.5 FAQ. Or, at least not everyone of them should cost the same (tzeentch furies with + to cast? Seriously? :D )
- It would be nice to be able to pay some hefty amount of points to have your Greater Daemon/Daemon Prince general Exalted much like in some edition of 40k, having a better save, more wounds, better rules depending on its mark etc.
- It would be also nice to have an Hellflayer glow up. T5/S5 and Heavy Chariot status could be a great place for him to be (like it was in 8th, with a points increase), especially since Slaanesh lacks access to high S Attacks (save for the KoS). Soulscent from 8th ed could also make a return. Was an extremely nice and fluffy rule imho.
- Greater Daemons should be probably bumped to 8 wounds, since that's more or less what a 400pts+ character models usually have (with hero mounted dragons obviously having more). 6 woulds with a measly 5++ basically instantly die to stomps/doomdivers/cannons.
Tell me what you think! Also feel free to add more for the other gods!
