Asus Strix G16 or Lenovo Pro 5?

I recently bought an Asus ROG Strix G16 with an ultra 7 255HX and an RTX 5070TI. Obviously vert good specs, but I had a sound issue I could not get fixed even after talking to Asus support. At this point I suspect it is some kind of hardware issue, and am going to return the laptop.

I can either get the same laptop in the hope that it was indeed a hardware issue with my specific model or a Lenovo Legion Pro 5 with an ultra 9 275HX and an RTX 5070TI. Both are at the same price and have 32 GB of RAM but the Asus has 2 TB of storage while the Lenovo has 1 TB.

Would appreciate someone with experience on lenovo laptops, I've only ever owned Asus before and until today I had a good experience with them, but it might be time to give something else a chance. The better processor for the same price is appealing to me, even though it has 1TB of storage less.

I'm mostly interested in cooling and the screen, I heard it is very reflective, but any advice from people with a 2025 legion pro 5 is very welcome!

Audio issues on clean installation of Windows 11

I recently bought a new laptop and did a clean installation of Windows off a bootable drive. Installed all windows updates, nvidia and intel drivers, and all drivers in MyAsus. I was watching Youtube while the updates were installing using a headset I've owned for a long time and know well. Suddenly, the headset was much louder than normal even though the volume did not change. I usually have the volume at 56/100 for normal listening, now I have to set it around 14/100. Setting the volume to 0 still sends sound through the headset. The issue does NOT occur with the laptop's speakers.

I also suspect this is causing an issue with launching Forza Horizon 6. For the brief moment before the issue appeared I was able to launch the game normally, but after the issue started it crashes instantly and does not provide an error code or crash report. I have tried one other game (Cyberpunk 2077) and it works fine. I found out that if the game is not in focus while launching (alt tabbing to a chrome window for example) it is able to launch. I then ran the built in benchmark a few times, closed the game, and when trying to open it again it started crashing even if the game is not in focus.

I installed windows off a bootable drive 3 times already, and every time the sound is fine at first, but after some update (could not figure out exactly which one) the issue appears again.

I have tried:

  1. Running the windows sound troubleshooter.

  2. Reinstalling Realtek drivers.

  3. Rolling back to a previous version of the drivers.

  4. Uninstalling all sound related devices and uninstalling drivers in Device Manager EXCEPT the Nvidia Audio drivers.

Hardware details:

Laptop model: Asus ROG Strix G16 615LR-S5078

Headset: Logitech Pro X2 Lightspeed

Drivers: Realtek Audio Drivers, Intel Smart Sound Technology, Texas Instruments Smart Amplifier Driver for Speakers, Nvidia High Definition Audio, Nvidia Virutal Audio Device
