We import chips, We export Engineers. I see, India is never going to be a Developed nation anytime in future

When I was searching for opportunities for myself, I saw most of Y combinator startups doing stupid things and getting easily funded by investors.

It's good that many of them, especially recently funded ones, throw enormous amounts for software/IT roles.

But 99% of them are not interested solving problems pertaining to India and her people.

Co-founders proudly mentioning San Francisco and Seattle on their social profile but I found literally no one having Connaught place, New Delhi written on their profile.

I applied for AI Operation associate role. The next day, got interviewed by someone who's in the same batch as that of mine.

She asked me, "how will you manage doing repetitive tasks, that too in night shift?"

Inside I was like "what the bloody..." But then I calmed down myself and replied, "I will just have a sip of coffee & get back to work".

Recently, I have been observing patterns like - some companies ask the applicant to mention a specific word ("Github ID Score" in my case) along with application even to be considered for the role, while some other companies close the the application form as soon as no. of applicants surpasses 25.

My point is that top 1% will remain unaffected by AI & all such sort of things. Because many amongst those are not just engineers but CPTOs, C-suite people who win heart of investors by playing diplomatic games.

On the other hand, We, the freshers, are busy training their AI models to perfection by solving everyday problems using AI, be it Two Sum in LC or Proposal writing for GSoC or building a web app. for hackathons. So on and so forth.

Even though, my specialization is AI/ML & Robotics, but I strictly advise everyone, especially juniors & college generation to avoid usage of AI in their basic projects.

Brain drain is real world world. Solve this before future slips out of fingers.

HR blindly rejected my tech resume, but I am genuinely happier than ever.

"Your resume is too big" - Thats what she said!!

BUT THEN, I TOOK MATTERS INTO MY OWN HANDS.

Made it 1-page; Attached it on my reddit profile & started engaging in tech communities conversations.

Four days later, a senior tech guy directly approached me on reddit:-

  1. Well, I'm a BTech CSE fresher of batch 2022-26. Both of us introduced ourselves. He is a software engineer, working remotely in a US-based tech-heavy startup for years.
  2. Both of us hopped onto a G-meet call where we talked about my technical skills, projects, achievements etc.
  3. To assess my technical skills, practical hands-on experience and creative skills, he sent me an assignment. He told me that I'll need to learn new tech as fast as possible and adapt accordingly.
  4. Since I'm determined to get selected for the opportunity so I duly completed assignment 2-days before the last date. It involved making a complex table in React.js, without using HTML at all. It comprised of multiple columns, fields and entries. It also involved making UI appear even more richer.
  5. I singlehandedly built everything from scratch using TanStack Table Library, and sent him a GDrive link having screenshots, source code and live demo with explanation.

Finally, I got a reply that, within a few hours, he will share my CV (along with my complete assignment) to the founding team.

Fingers crossed!

Making ₹50 Lakhs/year working as a full-time individual contractor in a US based IT firm. My journey is full of adventures.

I have 0 connections on LinkedIn, but I have owned high-end Intel i7 powdered laptop since day 1.

  • While being in my college, I started with just Rs 25,000/month tech-heavy internship that lead to a PPO just after 2 months.

  • Within the next 2 months of daily grinding, architecting web apps and engineering cloud-native platforms, I got a chance to talk 1:1 with the company's CTO on G-meet call.

  • A zeal of applying to early-stage and, sometimes, YC backed startups proved to be a game-changer for me when I realized that I have been absorbed by the company for a full-time Software Engineering Role.

  • Literally saving a lot of tax because there is a special provision of 0% TAX below 25 LPA. Even if I cross the limit a new life saver welcomes, which is 44ADA for upto 75 Lakh limit. Later on, LLP and what not.

  • Flexible timings/non-US shifts, WLB, complete-ownership, upper middle-class living standards, company-gifted setup at home and unprecedented benefit of INR depreciation and bi-weekly payment is a cherry on top.

  • Daily Lassi and Mango shakes from a hygienic juice center nearby my house, 17°C ultra cooling AC installed in my bedroom while ceiling fans biting dust in a storeroom, got pure-linen shirts for myself and remaining funds parked safely in mutual funds.

  • Leaving for Himachal this summer for spending rest of my life.

  • Doing exceptionally good, altogether in my life & career ...Sadly, I WOKE UP FROM MY WILDEST DREAM by an intimidating notification only to realize that I've been shortlisted for virtual test Round 1 (in Narayana Murthy's 72-hours work per week company). The test is scheduled on 24th of this month.

Rooting for myself!

[For Hire] Want a free trip to anywhere? Here's the hack

I am a new grad (basically virgin), currently on mission to help all my seniors (developers/senior engineers/CTOs).

Let me tell you what's on the table.

I'll sponsor your full family trip to any place of your choice(btw, not a freezer) or a week full of dinner(zomato/swiggy/Domino's) from my own money. Sounds good, huh?

Here a catch.

You refer me to your company. Anyhow arrange me an interview, and I will handle the rest. Note that interview is important here.

Well, I have won several national level competitions(IIT D), hackathons (IISc B) etc. Built web apps., full stack, cloud-related, ML powered, and fintech scalable projects, Stepped out of my comfort zone early.

So, Once I get an internship/job, I will keep saving a small portion from and give it back to the generous person who referred me.

I aspire to become a software engineer.

I stand by my words so take this post seriously.

Personal Win: I got LinkedIn premium for free during my final-year of graduation.

Basically, I had no idea that LinkedIn offers 30 days trial. I logged in today and see the banner to activate it. So, it's my last year, I am about to graduate in a few days and luckily got this subscription.

I am seeking guidance to utilise this feature to full potential to find opportunities which are relevant as per my BTech CSE course.

Tell me all those hacks & tricks which benefitted you once you were a fresher on mercy of non-technical HRs.

My fours years of perseverance just comes to an end. (Off campus is 1000X hard to clear)

Being a fresher 2026, I got a chance to connect individually with over 10 people serving in IT domain for ages.

  1. Google guy - He told me, "I won't refer you until you get knight status on Leetcode".
  2. Amazon guy - He ghosted me.
  3. Amex global guy - He wanted to refer me but career page has openings only for senior roles.
  4. Apple guy - He recently joined apple. He wanted to refer me but neither him nor I could find anything which is meant for fresher, not even an internship or their early career program in India.
  5. Optum guy - I shall get an opportunity to be interviewed by him, only if my technical biodata surpasses initial stages of screening.
  6. HCL tech guy - I successfully got a job invitation. Guess what? AI developer II. (Directlyyy? and I am just a fresher rn, again low chances).
  7. Accenture guy - He provided me some really great guidance, told -"base location can be changed talking with HR so don't worry initially". Well, I was open for anywhere. So, no problem as such.
  8. Big 5 Consulting firm guy - He put me into general pool.
  9. HP guy - He told me that university hiring is done.
  10. High radius Technolgies guy - he promised me to refer. He might have talked with hiring manger)/HR. But I got to know from him the very next day, "We only hire experienced people, and freshers directly from college).

Also applied to NVIDIA N.e.X.T program previous month - Got referred by some senior person. Got invition for basic test. But couldn't clear it. It was f*king hard.

Right now - unemployed. No hopes from placement cell.

If anyone knows of any opportunity for recent grads/final-yearites do let me know.

Let's create a mega thread of Crowdsourced Job Referrals

Given the current market situation, getting opportunities could be a grim prospect, especially for freshers and recent grads. While referrals don't always work, they are often better than shooting job applications in the dark.

In that respect, let's create a mega thread of referrals. Here is the format you must follow:

  • Company Name
  • Link to job board (in case job board is not public, try to mention some positions your company is actively hiring for).

This would allow others to approach you for referrals. Let's help each other out.

Not all hereos wear cap; some just provide a referral

This post is a token of appreciation for all those 10+ people who saw a burning passion inside me and referred me to their respective companies, without asking anything in return.

I hope for the best,
