I tried a mix of pen and watercolor. Does the end result look flattened?
If it is flat, how do you avoid this? Especially when working with watercolor and pens.
Would you rather live in the past or in the present?
We don't want to live with what makes us unhappy in today's world
Sometimes this sort of thinking gets labelled as nostalgia with rose-tinted glasses, and that's understandable. There are good and bad things in every age. But I believe there's more bad in our age, or at least we're painfully more aware of it. When some people talk like this, they might get asked a question like this:
"Would you rather live in the past or in today's world?"
I'd pick neither. I'd rather live in a better world.
Treating writing like a job.
I'll admit that my problem is so common that making a post about it felt somewhat unnecessary. But I wanted to talk (and maybe complain) about it to real people.
I have two projects, A and B. With A, new ideas flow and I know what I want to do with them.
I'm kind of sick of B at this point. With B, I've got worldbuilding done. I have characters, a title, a short story, and a small collection of scenes. My problem is that I have no idea what I want to do with this stuff I've made. I've tried out at least 5 different story concepts, and none of them are good enough for me.
Now I'd rather be working on A, but I want to figure out B. Should I press on and keep writing B even though I don't like it, as if it were a job I had to do?
