Mic-ing a soccer pitch

I've been watching the World Cup and I'm curious about how they mic the pitch. I see the mics placed around the periphery, but I'm curious if anyone here has any insight on the details of how they capture the kicks and manage the crowd noise and what not.

My board

I just found this sub and thought I'd share my board. I love all of these pedals, but the blue LEDs on the MXR eq are totally blinding. If the eq is on, I can't see anything on the board. I may replace it with a Boss GE-7. The Friedman is only soft-mounted. I'll swap it out for other dirt pedals depending.

Why is the local "news" doing a segment on Amazon Prime Day?

What the fuck? Does Amazon really need help getting their message out? How about the local "news" do some counter programming instead. They could highlight locally-owned small businesses instead of bending over for Jeff. OR they could just stick to news.

The Buroughs - An observation

I really enjoyed Stranger Things. Ok, maybe just the first two or three seasons. I identified with the kids who were maybe a year off from my own timeline. I really enjoyed the authenticity of the sets and props, the soundtrack, and that sweet 733i. I loved that it was sort of an homage to Stephen King.

I just discovered The Buroughs on Netflix. Made by the same creative team behind Stranger Things, it follows a similar formula. But instead of following around a plucky band of teens, it focuses on a plucky band of old folks.

And wouldn't you friggin' know it? I identify with the old folks. What the hell?

Say No to Drugs PSA: Peak 80s Cringe (1988)

This week I discovered that my high school graduation ceremony (Class of '88!) is posted on Youtube. Very cool, as it's the first time I've ever seen any part of my childhood on video. Apparently the video was produced for broadcast on our local public access cable channel, so there's a commercial break in it featuring an anti-drug PSA. Here's the link (https://youtu.be/uwRaPCKbgyU?t=2208).

The Lord of the Flies

I remember reading The Lord of the Flies in eighth or ninth grade. It was the first book I devoured completely. The story really stuck with me, just like it did with so many of us. I’ve seen the original 1963 film and the updated version from 1990. Now, there’s a new take on Netflix, made by the BBC in a limited series. It feels a lot more like the original 63 version, and thankfully it’s not modernized. I just don’t think it would be believable to go missing on an uncharted island today. It’s beautifully shot, with vignetting that gives it an appropriately unsettling and claustrophobic feel.

Have you seen it? What did you think?

Have any of you encountered problems with custom icons?

I have two installations of Logic. One is my official work machine and the other is on my MacBook Pro. Both are running current versions of the MacOS and Logic. For some reason, Logic on my MacBook Pro has ceased to allow me to change the icons on tracks. Yeah I know. It's a small thing, but it's not. Those icons are helpful in terms of session org and workflow.

Are any of you experiencing this?
