Wired Cruiser vs Velotric Nomad 2X

I’ve been looking at getting an ebike for a couple of months now and thought I finally settled on getting the Velotric Nomad 2x until I discovered the Wired Cruiser. Now im back to square one and trying to decide between the two of them. I’m 56 years old, 350 pounds, with bad knees and getting an ebike as a tool to get healthy again. For those that bought a Wired Cruiser or Velotric Nomad 2X can you tell me about your experience with the bike and the company? Will bike shops work on Wired bikes if there’s ever an issue? I know my LBS sells and services Velotrics. I don’t really care about going crazy fast but it would be nice if I could charge up the hills in the Albuquerque area. I’d also like to have the ability to go on long rides and explore all the dirt roads near where I live. I’d like to get a good cardio workout but still be able to take a break and let the bike do all the work. I’d like to hear people’s opinions and experiences with the Wired Cruiser and Nomad 2x? I’d like to hear the good and the bad please, and what choice you’d make and why?

Help Choosing a Velotric Bike!

After months of research I’m finally ready to pull the trigger on a Velotric bike in the next week or 2 and I’m so confused! I could really use some guidance. My bike shop still doesn’t have any stock for test rides. I’ve been going back and forth for the last month suffering from severe analysis paralysis! The only firm decision I’ve made is that I don’t think I’m ready for the Discover M not having been on a bike in over 5 years. Here’s where I could really use advice.

I’m currently close to 350 pounds. 5’10 with a 30” inseam. I really like the Discover 3 a lot! I’m just concerned how it would handle my weight riding on hills, and worry about damaging it with my towns roads being in such horrible condition. It’s unreal how many huge cracks every road seems to have! I’d hate to spend 2k only to blow a tire or bend a rim on some crack in the road!

I really like the Nomad 2! It has a high weight tolerance. A little higher torque rating, and fat tires that might handle rough roads better than the D3. Also looks like it would be as close to ride as the D3. My biggest concern here is given my weight and the weight of the bike my range would really be an issue.

Then I’m drawn to the Nomad 2x with its full suspension, high weight tolerance, ability to handle rough roads, and the higher torque. Here my concerns are I don’t really like the color choices. I’d be on the high end for height on the step thru. Also worry with my height and the straighter handle bars it wouldn’t ride as comfortable as the D3 or N2. Here again I’m concerned about the battery range.

Please help me make a decision! Every week I think I’ve made my choice only to flip flop. It has become a vicious cycle! I’m really all over the place! I know for sure I want no other brand but Velotric. I just can’t for the life of me decide which of these 3 models I want!

I was recently totally shocked that for some unknown bogus reason that I was restricted from joining groups or posting in any groups until July 29th. I tried everything possible to get the restrictions lifted but to no avail. Even paid for a month of Meta Verified for an opportunity to talk to a worthless human being only to be told there was nothing that could be done. I eventually just accepted that I was going to have to just serve my time in the Facebook gulag.

This evening as I was scrolling I was blown away by realizing I had been set free from my harsh sentence! I’m suddenly able to join and post in groups! I can’t believe it! I’m free! As anyone that’s served hard time I’m a little nervous and timid. Don’t want to end up in facebook jail again! I’m glad my restrictions have been lifted but I’m worried about posting and getting busted by the overly zealous AI. Is there anyway to post and not get busted again? Anyone else sentenced to serve time until July 29th and suddenly found themselves unexpectedly thrust back into the “ free society “?

I am so upset! I never post except in groups that deal in subjects I’m interested in. Lately all my posts have been about e-bikes. I don’t post often and yesterday I went to make a post and a message popped up saying I’m restricted from joining or posting in groups until July 29th! I am outraged! I’ve done nothing to deserve this! In the past week I’ve made one post asking a question about an ebike! I got a trial subscription to Meta Verified since apparently that’s the only way to actually speak to a person! Went round and round with their terrible customer service, sent screenshots and spent over an hour trying to get this resolved but they did nothing to help me! Said the AI god deemed me a fraud and sentenced me to a 3 month banishment! This is so unfair! 3 months for doing nothing in the slightest bit wrong! Facebook really sucks!!

I can’t believe it! We are supposed to close tomorrow and at 4 pm the black hearted underwriter/undertaker finally gave us the clear to close! It’s been such a horrific ordeal! I almost broke down in tears! I survived the gauntlet! What a long hard road it’s been getting here. Sleepless nights. Hardcore anxiety every day. For the last 2 weeks every single day the underwriter has been sending her list of demands! I feel like a trained circus lion I had to jump through so many hoops!

After I supplied her with lockets of our hair, nail clippings, and spit for her black magic I thought surely her demands would be done! But no! The last one was the hardest! We had to sacrifice a sheep by a bonfire all while chanting some ancient Sumerian magical spell. Speaking in Sumerian was hard enough, but do you know how hard it was to get a full grown sheep in the back of a little Kia Soul!!?? We got that thing in right before the farmer burst through his door with a shotgun! Barely escaped but we did! We did it! We survived the underwriter! We sign the papers and get the keys to our new kingdom tomorrow! Maybe tonight I can finally sleep peacefully!

I’m moving into a new house next month, and once we are moved in and unpacked I am most definitely buying a Velotric bike. I’m drawn to the Discover 3,and I also really like the Summit 2 but question my ability to swing my leg over it. Now to complicate my choice I’ve started taking to look at the Discovery M wondering if it’s worth the extra money. I do wish there was more color choices on the M model since I do love the red Discover 3 but I could grow to like the silver M.

It seems that despite the M motor having 250W less than the 3 it seems to have some of the same capabilities as the 3 as far as speed but with even more torque, hill climbing ability, and range. Is a mid drive motor just more efficient than a hub motor? Is that 250W loss from the D3 really not an issue? Is the extra cost worth it?

I live in a city built on a slope. Very little flat ground. So you’re either going uphill towards the mountains or downhill towards the Rio Grande then uphill again towards the mesa so more hill climbing ability would be a big plus for me. I could also use help deciding on a frame size. I’m 5’10” with a 30” inseam so it seems that either frame could work but wondering if the large might be the better fit. We have a Velotric bike shop but unfortunately they don’t currently have any in stock for me to test drive. Hopefully they will get some in before I’m ready to pull the trigger next month. Is it possible that the DM will have more color choices by then? Right now I think the only bad choice I could possibly make is if I got the Summit 2 and struggled to get my leg over it. I just need help deciding what model Discovery is the smartest one to get and will help me get healthier. Also deciding what size frame to get. I got a whole month to day dream about it and eventually make a well informed decision. Luckily Velotric is the only brand I’m considering now. One less rabbit hole for me to go down!
