It seems like every single one in politics is some sort of crazed, Democrat-hating partisan. And the few that exist on social media are similar. Yet they are a narrow majority.

Are they all really frothing liberal haters who only vote R and hate women and trans people?

Mister we can use a man like Herbert Hoover, Dwight Eisenhower, or Richard Nixon again.

I'm more of an Instagram person than a TikTok person, the stunt with the closure was my straw dealing with that app and I wasn't really active there, but yesterday I read an article which repeatedly mentioned an Instagram mom/disability awareness vlogger multiple times as a TikTok personality even though they barely ever posted there and the article itself shared multiple Instagram posts from said personality. I know journalism is in a rough place and that all vlogging falls under the radar but has it entered the realm of such terms as Xerox and Band Aid?

Being challenged from another sub to ask because I'm a naive American whose understanding boils down to just Solidarity and Lech Walesa because in 1990s America those who fought against the Communists were heroes. How were things really?

A lot to unpack here:

McCain at 72 was seen as too old. Given what happened in OTL, that doesn't seem so bad. Does this get the Gerentocracy Jones out of the US's system?

Does a Hillary loss mean that she's done for on the presidential level? Or does she try to run again?

With the GOP keeping the White House, do the long-term prospects for Democrats improve without their collapse in 2010?

Does GOP fatigue a la GHWB in 1992 sink in and a more experienced Obama runs in 2012 to victory? Does the Tea Party happen but delayed or was the Obama backlash/buyers remorse going to happen anyway?

What becomes of Trump here? Does he still get triggered at a WHCD but in 2014 or 2015? Does he take Obama on in 2016 or wait until 2020? Or does he use Ivanka as a proxy?

How about Bernie? Biden? Kamala? Does 2025 end up with an administration of, say, Charlie Baker/Thom Tillis because 2024 had Dem fatigue?

If paying the daggum teachers matters so much, what was the 2010 electorate thinking when they chose "Screw The Teachers" in that election. Or was the electorate that clueless to how Republicans really are that they didn't know what would happen?

Was Hillary America's last hope?

Kamala wouldn't have hurt kids.

Kamala would have owned up to her misdeeds.

Kamala wouldn't have tanked the economy.

Kamala would have let Iran be and have not fucked up oil production.

How can one be a decent person and not vote for a better world and nation?

Is Linnean Street Lizzie just a convenient scapegoat or were the issues too deep?

A shame Spirit couldn't have given ORH or CEF a shot when they were alive.

I know...blah blah REDMAP...blah blah Art Pope...blah blah Citizens United...blah blah Obama backlash.

I also know that there was an obscene amount of complacency among NC Dems going into 2010 and some scandals for the time which were big deals though compared to the NC GOP now they seem like small potatoes.

However, what really went on that led people to think Republicans were the solution? Especially seeing how deranged and insane Republicans turned out to be. I know the NC GOP had been laying the groundwork for wanting to take the state after the modern NC GOP came to be in the mid 1980s and that circumstances played heavily in their favor in 2010, but what was the electorate thinking then? Were there any warning signs of what the NC GOP would become or was it a "both parties are the same" situation with nobody seeing anything coming? Also, how were the vibes then versus now and why aren't we seeing people thinking "hey, maybe Democrats are the one to fix things?"

While I accept the 1976 Olympic Decathlon winner and Kendall Jenner's gender-determining parent as a woman, I do not accept her poor political choices.

A question for a boring end of week involving the two biggest GenZ mascots/superfans of the MBTA. Who wins?

Miles in Transit, whose blog turned blog is half his own age and now is living his dream of working for the MBTA and has a devoted fanbase and has gotten national press for his travels. Or...

Purple Princess Pari, who has taken an appearance on Love On The Spectrum and has brought MBTA Fandom to new heights and wants everyone to have a T-rific day.
