Don't you get tired of pre-buffing?

I know there is a mod out there but I think Pillars of Eternity did buffs better. They are only avaliable in combat so you can't stack buffs beforehand and it felt like the game was also balanced around it too. I am not saying that game is better btw just because of this. That approach also takes away from the depth of combat as well. I am just trying to learn how you guys go about buffing. I feel like if I don't stack buffs before every encounter like 2 mins in ch4 and ch5 I am dead in seconds and I feel the game expects me to have like 15 buffs active at a time to keep going and I hate resting in a dungeon for roleplay reasons. Also please don't bring up playing on lower difficulties since the rule book difficulty is core.

Aveline has become one of my GOATs

Playing as a female lawful mage and after I decided to side with the mages in Act 3, Aveline stood by me even though she clearly would have choosen the templars if we were not such good friends. I will always honor her loyalty. She has just joined the list of my favorite companions such as Garl and Midna and a few more.

"This here is worth it."

A difference a single level makes...

(Hard Difficulty - No scaling of any kind) I feel like this game is artificially gatekeeping me from certain areas because of my level. No matter the gear or the people I bring with me, I seem to always do no damage at all on hard difficulty... until I get that one level that magically makes everything is easy. I know how RPGs work, so please don't tell me I need to go level up and what not. I am an old school fan of CRPs. I thought this game was gonna be like BG2 where with enough luck and cunning everything is possible.

Example; there is this quest where you may choose to kill the neighboring house head for the Bardettos and I swear they kicked my ass when I tried to assasinate them right after I got the word from the lady. Being a somewhat sensible person, I quested and got a level and came back after and the fight was over in ten seconds. What am I doing wrong? I thought no matter the level with enough strategy and planing and looting everything is possible but the way it is now is just... heartbreaking to me. Why would I get exited about new gear or why would I read more into spells/classes if all that matters are just plain old levels?

Tell me I am doing something wrong, I am really enjoying my time with this game.

My question is this; Is there a magical threshold you need to pass for you to be able to beat an enemy? (Like the recent AC games and what not)

Amnesia The Bunker is hands down the scariest piece of media I have ever experienced and I loved every second of it.
